A Round-Up Of Summer Entertaining Ideas

DIY Hexagon Cocktail Tray by ConfettiStyle

Here in Atlanta the season for summer entertaining really begins when the last drop of pollen hits the ground.   Not that we’re into hot weather season and summer is officially here, it’s time for a fresh round of entertaining ideas.

When it come to entertaining, my inspiration comes from lots of places.  In addition to my pinterest boards, I also keep a paper file of inspirational design and entertaining ideas.  There is just something about a beautiful image that I can hold in my hand and analyze every detail up close and personal.   I am constantly tearing pages out of magazines or printing images off the web to add to my file.  My file has really grown over the years and in a future post I’ll share it with you along with why it’s such a valuable tool for me.

Recently I came across some fantastic summer entertaining ideas that I wanted to share with you.

If you’ve read some of my previous entertaining post you know that for me entertaining is about the details.  The details that go into the invitation, the table decor, the food and even the music can create a special setting for your friends and family.

Unexpected details will always get noticed and stand out to your guest.  I love the idea of using hard shell fruit like a pineapple as a vase.  The pineapple texture and color can bring a table to life and just think about the wonderful scent you’ll be adding to your entertaining space.

As a tea drinker, tea cups hold a special place in my heart.  I am always running across unique and inexpensive cups when I’m out thrifting and the idea of using them as personalized flower pots is such a fun idea for spring.  If your party has a design or color theme, you can easily incorporate tea cups that enhance that theme.

tip:  don’t worry about having matching saucers for your teacups, just pair the cups with a white saucer which will help add a sense of uniformity.

And the tea cup theme doesn’t have to stop with flowers.  How great is this idea of using tea cups to serve individual portions of salad or even soup?

Even the simplest bundt cake can be enhanced with fresh (edible) flowers.

One of the best entertaining tips I can give you is to try to create a decorative statement with every element of your decor.  Flower infused ice buckets are an unexpected way to enhance a cocktail bar or beverage station.  How-to instructions can be found here.

One look at my blog name and you know I am in love with all things confetti. I’ve recently developed a crush for confetti poppers and think they would be a fun way to celebrate spring.   You create your own decorative version by adding patterned scrapbook paper to the outside and cutting your own custom mix of confetti.  If you want it all done for you,  I just added a Confetti Poppers kit to my Etsy shop to make it easy for you.

Do you ever come across an image and think ‘that’s brilliant’?  That’s what happened when I saw this toy horse used as a floral centerpiece on a party table. A quick coat of gold spray paint and a ring of flowers were all it took to create this unique centerpiece.

Such a great idea that now I want to head to the toy store and see what other ideas it can offer.
