ASO Decorators’ Show House & Gardens

Three cheers for a great weekend!  I hope yours was great too!

Last Thursday I was invited to preview the 44th Annual Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Designers Show House and let me tell you, this is one of the best show houses I’ve seen in Atlanta in many, many years.

Built in the 1920’s, the Palazzo Rose is a beautiful Italian inspired estate that sits on West Paces Ferry Road, one of Atlanta’s most distinguished streets.   This year, over 30 of Atlanta’s top interior designers and design firms were selected to design and decorate the home and every room was breathtaking! If you love touring show homes and live in the Atlanta area,  you should definitely make time to see the Pink Palace. If you can’t make it, here’s your own personal tour of The Pink Place.  Enjoy and be inspired!

The first space I came upon at the house was a stunning loggia designed by the Michael Habachy of Habachy Designs.

IMG_8521

I can’t even begin to tell you how glamorous and chic this space was.  Michael used a mix of black, white, grey and pink with accents of gold which defined the elegance of the room.  This design is totally not what you’d expect in a pool house but that’s what made it stand out.

One of the materials Michael used throughout the space was acrylic.  Isn’t that small acrylic table beautiful?

IMG_8509

And how about these acrylic curtain rods with gold finials!  Yes, please!

IMG_8514

Orbs showed up as an accent on the coffee table and in this stunning light fixture by Apparatus Studio.  And speaking of light fixtures, every piece of lighting in the house was amazing.

IMG_8515

One side of the loggia featured this chic vignette and another stunning acrylic piece.

IMG_8518

The next space I came upon was this elegant blue and white living room designed by Timothy Corrigan. All of the fabrics used in the space were from his fabric line for Schumacher.

IMG_8539

An amazing hand-carved mirror hung over the fireplace and was surround by folds of beautiful fabric.

IMG_8538

The ceiling was covered in a gold wall paper!  Stunning.

IMG_8537

I now want a piece of cobalt blue coral!

IMG_8542

From the living room I moved into the breakfast area.  Designed by McLaurin Interiors this space featured the most beautiful hand-painted fabrics from Clay McLaurin Studio.

Another stunning light fixture.

IMG_8548

Off the breakfast area was the kitchen.  Amazing in every way.  From the  stove and range hood…

IMG_8552

to this hanging lantern light which was designed and customized to hang from a support beam that was built into the kitchen…

IMG_8553

to the cute little pet feeding station…

IMG_8555

to the amazing leather finish counter tops!  Wow!

IMG_8563

And yet another gorge light fixture that hung in the butler’s pantry.

IMG_8556

The hallway next to the kitchen was designed by Anna Abrams and Loren Audrey Taylor. To keep this narrow staircase open and airy the duo painted the ceiling a soft pink and hung beautiful round globe light fixtures from Circa Lighting.

Ok, hold your horses.  This next space was OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD!  The master bathroom designed by Clay Snider Interiors! These photos don’t do this space justice.  Just imagine soft color palette, crystals and glass, brass and antique bronze finishes, a beautiful tub facing a fireplace and a glass surround shower that is the centerpiece of the space.

IMG_8571

How about this gorgeous master bedroom designed by Traci Rhoads Interiors.  I spent a few minutes chatting with Traci and found out that her inspiration for the room started with the Ikat wallpaper by Jim Thompson House.

IMG_8596

The colors of the room were a mix of soft and bold with beautiful accents like this amazing chandelier and rock crystal planter.

Just off the master bedroom was one of my favorite spaces in the entire house.  The master terrace was designed by my friends Lance and David of Parker Kennedy Living.

To make the space more livable, they had a custom cabana built to frame the terrace.  This amazing structure was built in pieces so that it could be moved to the second floor and rebuilt in place.

IMG_8623

The green zebra Scalamandre fabric was the inspiration for this space and they used almost 100% vintage pieces, which they updated, to decorate the terrace.  Lance and David are known for their vintage pieces, bold color, exquisite details and distinct style and their terrace space was signature Parker Kennedy.

I loved the deep green mixed with black, white and gold.

Here’s another guest bedroom designed by The Mercantile.

IMG_8635

This gorgeous crystal wall sconce is original to the house.

IMG_8639

Want to see another bold space?  How about this wow bathroom designed by Bryan Alan Kirkland.  In talking with Bryan, this bathroom originally had a 6′ round sunken tub in the middle of the floor. Bryan had the space gutted and used a magenta wallpaper and Osborne and Little floral drapes to bring the space into 2014.

IMG_8641

The woodwork in this bathroom was amazing and so was this crystal chandelier.

And just when you thought there were no more amazing details to this house…

the dining room designed by Melanie Turner Interiors with the original Venetian mural walls and chandelier…

this fun Solarium Garden space by Lila Pryor Frank Interiors and Allyson Designs…

I’m so in love with this pillow combination

and finally the grand living room with original mural walls which are hand-painted on linen fabric.

So much amazing eye candy right?   To learn more about the ASO Decorators Showhouse and to check out the schedule of special events and book signings here.  The home is open for tours until May 18th.

After touring this home and walking away with a ton of design inspiration, it got me thinking about what a great resource show homes and model homes are for design ideas.  Tomorrow I’m going to share a few more photos from the show house along with a few model  home photos and tell you what type of design tips should look for when tour these types of homes.

Thank you for the mention in the show house. I am the founder and principal of my firm, and work with my mother Carolyn Abrams Taylor. The firm is named in honor of my deceased maternal grandmother at Anna Martha Cleora Martin Abrams, thus Anna Abrams Design.
