DIY Clipboard & Calendar

Yesterday I shared tips on decorating and organizing your office space and included the idea of using decorative clipboards to pretty up your walls and help you stay organized. And today I’m showing you just how simple it is to make a decorative clipboard with a super easy DIY project.

Even though I design and sell clipboards in my Etsy shop, it doesn’t stop me from buying clipboards, especially when they are cheap and begging for a facelift.

This project started when I came across this black composite clipboard with a calendar in the dollar spot at Target for $3.00. That darn dollar spot is such a great source of cute seasonal products I can never walk out of the store without picking up an item or two, or three!

p.s.  I think they are also selling a clipboard without the calendar

Once I got the clipboard home, I started thinking about how I wanted to decorate it.  The objective was quick, easy and cheap.

With a little crafting magic this $3.00 clipboard and calendar now look like this…

Since I already own a supply of decorative clipboards, I decided to turn this one into wall decor.  I glued a piece of decorative cardstock onto the surface of the clipboard and framed the top and bottom edge in gold glitter tape.  I made a round sticker using an image I found online and printed it onto white sticker paper.   And since I always embellish my craft projects, I added 3-dimensional flowers (available at any craft store) along the edge of the sticker.

With each of the calendar pages, I added diagonal striped metallic washi tape along  the edge or at the top of the page and then used more 3-d flowers as accents.

This project took less than 30 minutes to complete and I was able to use items I had on hand.  If you have to go out and buy the materials, including the clipboard you’re looking to spend around $12 (less is you use your craft store coupons).

I love how my calendar and clipboard turned out and can’t wait to hang them in my office.

I hope you’re inspired to make some pretty accessories for your own space.

Happy Crafting!
