Fashion Focus: Creating a Signature Style

I like to think that over the years I’ve developed somewhat of a signature fashion style–a fashion sense that speaks to who I am and what I’m about.  My signature style revolves around the silhouettes, style details and colors that I like to wear and that make me feel good, comfortable and my best self. My signature style conveys a lot about my personality and influences the way that I carry myself and interact to others.

Several times I year I take stock of my signature style.  With so much fashion noise out there one can easily get caught up in trends and looks they see on the pages of magazines.  And sometimes those looks aren’t the best for us and cause us to stray from our signature style.

Analyzing my signature style involves clearing out my closet, trying on all my clothes and reconnecting with the pieces and looks that give me a sense of confidence and make me feel good in every way.

I answer these questions when I’m evaluating my signature style:

You’re probably asking yourself where I’m going with this post.  We’ll it has to do with the events I’ll be attending this week.

Whenever I attend trade shows, events or conferences I like to make sure my signature style is intact.  I like to pull out my clothes and accessories a few days early and plan my outfits so I can be at my best and feel at my best.  Planning allows me to try things on and ensure I have the right shoes (comfortable and cute), the right bags ( big enough to carry stuff but not too large) and the right accessories (makes a statement and compliments the styles I’m wearing)  to go with each look.

The foundation of my personal style statement revolves around color.  Although I wear a lot of black, I feel happiest and at my best when I wear bright and bold colors. Bright, happy colors are a direct reflection of  my personality and that I make it a daily practice to choose happy.

My signature accessory look is big and bold.  I love statement jewelry and a great pair of earrings or a fun necklace are usually part of my signature style.

And when it come to footwear, comfort is key but I love footwear that has personality.

So, when I set off this week to attend the Atlanta Gift and Home Furnishings show and the Haven blog conference, here are a few outfits I’ll be wearing…

I just purchased this Calvin Klein dress and love the color and stripes.  This CWonder clutch adds an additional pop of my favorite color, red!

I can’t wait to sport my new black jumpsuit paired with a bold yellow cardi and fun accessories.

Other than red, magenta or hot pink is another of my favorite colors.  I love pairing magenta with turquoise and animal print.

One of the color trends for summer is bright yellow and it’s one trend I’ll be sporting along with striped cropped pants and cute wedges.

If you haven’t  identified your signature style, this quiz will help you do that.

And if you’ll be attending the Atlanta market or Haven I hope to meet you.  Look for me, I’ll be wearing something bright and happy!
