Whenever I’m designing a space, my goal is always to enhance or create a focal point within the room.  Often times that is done by making one wall stand out from the rest. There are lots of ways to make an impact in design but when it come to making a statement on a wall, these are the best ways to make an impact!

1.  WITH WOOD

If a rustic look is your thing, using reclaimed wood to create a statement wall is ideal.

2.  WITH PAINT

The cheapest and easiest way to create a focal wall in your home is with paint.  Pull the color from a dominant pattern within the room to connect the dots.

3.  WITH STENCILS OR DECALS

For a more artistic approach, stencils or wall decals will do the trick.  With more intricate patterns you can just accent one wall or be bold and paint the entire space.

4.  WITH CURTAINS

One of the best ways to soften a large space or one with lots of angles and wall is with curtain panels.  Use them to frame a piece of furniture or hide a vast expanse of windows.

I love the soft sheer drapes scalloped along this large wall.  Not only do they add softness but they fill this large wall which would be hard to do with art or other wall decor.

5.  WITH BOOKSHELVES

There is nothing more that I love than a wall of bookcases.  I love the personality they add to a space in addition to the organization and structure they bring to a room.
