Last years Round Top Antique Market trip (you can read about it here) included an overnight stay in Austin.  We stayed at a hotel not too far from the capital building and it was a comfortable, pleasant stay.

This year our overnight location was a bit different–a lot more quaint and charming.  Our Saturday night accommodations were in Salado, TX at a bed and breakfast named the Inn On The Creek. We arrived just as the sun was setting so I snapped a few pictures before it got dark.

Salado, Texas is a small town filled with mom and pop shops, antique stores, restaurants and craft galleries.  The Salado is 50 miles north of Austin and the inn sits along the banks of Salado Creek.

There are three buildings the make up with inn and the grounds are lush, green and made for afternoon walks and relaxing.

In one of the photos  below you’ll see Adirondack chairs which were nestled along the creeks edge.  They create the perfect spot for watching the sun set or enjoying an afternoon under the sun.

And once the sun goes down the Inn takes on a whole new feel with deer roaming the property and prancing across the roads.

In talking to the manager of the inn we learned that all three of the Victorian styled homes on the property were moved from small towns around Salado.  After the houses were moved to the property, the original wood details, trim and doors were carefully cleaned and restored. The interiors are exquisitely renovated, with close attention to every detail.

This large bird cage sat just outside the house where my room was and the birds really seemed to love their Victorian style home.

I stayed in the Stewart Room, located in the Holland House which was across the street from the Manor.

The room was decorated in true Victorian style with antique furniture and decor.  The shiplap walls immediately caught my attention as did the rustic painted walls in the bathroom.

Little details like the antique phone and guest book made the room really special.

Sometime during the early morning hours of Sunday it started raining which ushered me into a deeper sleep.  I didn’t even hear the large branch on this tree snap just outside my window.

Sunday morning we headed over to the main house for a yummy breakfast, hot tea and coffee.

We are definitely planning another trip to the Inn On The Creek and I can’t wait to sit in one of those Adirondack chairs with a glass of wine.
