Let’s Go Shopping: 12 Must-Have Items From Ikea

I ventured out to Ikea last Friday after having stayed away for several months.

Ikea Shopping Bag

A trip to Ikea is not typically something you just do on the spur of the moment.  There are a couple of things you’ll need to do before heading to Ikea…

 1) You have to think about the day and time to go (in order to maintain your sanity)

and

2) if you’re married, you have to get the hubs on board at least a week in advance so that he can store up some patience for what is sure to be a few hours of browsing, oohing and awing and creative brainstorming. Oh, and you just might have to promise to take him out to lunch and you pay for it…just saying!

With both to-do’s check off my list the hubs and I headed to Ikea.

Surprisingly it wasn’t super crowded and it only took me two hours to get through the store maze.

There is always something I want to buy at Ikea and this trip was no exception.  Because I was shopping for a few specific things for projects, I didn’t spend much but I did make a note of a few pieces I thought were awesome and that everyone in America needs to rush out and buy right now.

So, here are 12 items I think you need to check out…

 gullklocka-cushion-cover__0278691_PE418342_S4

Gullklocka Pillow Cover  $7.00 {also available in grey}

This is chenille like pillow that is just as soft as can be and the yellow-chartruese color works great with vibrant tones, black and white and both silver and gold.

Sillerup Rug  $119.00

Ikea has come out with several really great black and white rugs over the years and the new Sillerup is sure to be a favorite.  I love the bold graphic pattern!

tuvbracka-duvet-cover-and-pillowcases__0285401_PE381733_S4

Tuvbracka Duvet Cover  $29.00-$39.00

This black and white striped bedding caught my eye because of how versatile it can be.  I love to pair this with some bright-colored floral pillows.

 helgonort-cushion-cover__0278684_PE418327_S4

HelGonort Pillow Cover $10.00

If you like decorating with burlap and linen then this pillow is for you.  The cotton/linen fabric is accented with a single black stripe that gives it a slightly edgy feel.  When I saw this pillow I immediately thought about using it for a DIY monogram project with an initial on each side of the stripe.  There are so many other ideas that come to mind too!

nattljus-duvet-cover-and-pillowcase-s-__0285456_PE404234_S4

Nattljus Duvet Cover  $19.00-$24.00

This tan and white diamond print bedding was fun and again I can see it paired with lots of different patterns and colors.

barbar-tray__0276354_PE414793_S4

BarBar Tray $6.99

Here’s a tray that could be used year round–classic black and white stripes.

 vinter--cushion__0279031_PE418789_S4

Vitner Pillow Cushion $16.99

The Vitner cable sweater pillow is a fun accent for the winter season.  It also comes in a square shape.

vintermys-gift-wrap-roll__0287487_PE423657_S4

Vintermys Gift Wrap  $1.99

You know I had to buy some of this wrapping paper.  What caught my eye was the beautiful metallic tones, especially the bronze on the end.  This is great paper for wrapping men’s gifts or to use for fall gift wrapping.

nymo-lamp-shade__0275917_PE414016_S4

nymo-lamp-shade__0275915_PE414019_S4

Nymo Lampshade $34.99

Love, Love, Love this barrel share.  It looks like its made of metal but it’s actually a brushed cotton material lined with copper.  It is really beautiful in person and I can only image how great the light is that it would cast through that pattern.

 nodvandig-bowl__0248994_PE387374_S4

Nodvandig Bowl $12.99

This is the perfect bowl for a fall table and yes, I did snag one of these for myself.

songe-mirror__0107579_PE257251_S4

Songe Mirror $99.99

If you’re in the market for a beautiful dressing mirror, this silver framed mirror is a great deal.  It is oversized and the rounded top gives it lots of style.

 stockholm-mirror__0177101_PE329948_S4

Stockholm Mirror $99.00

And this is my favorite item of the day.  The rim of the Stockholm mirror is graduated so that the lower portion is wider enough to sit something on.  That simple detail really makes this simple round mirror stand out.

That’s what I saw and love from Ikea. I’m already looking forward to my next trip which I hope will be sooner rather than later.

p.s.  which of these is your favorite item?

I love the wrapping paper, the black and white duvet cover, the lampshade and both mirrors. In May we went to visit my best friend that lives about an hour away from IKEA and the Mall of America in Minnesota. We wasted the day at Mall of America (don’t go) and I never did get to go to IKEA. We’ll be buying a house soon and when we do I’m going to Atlanta and spending the day at IKEA. Thanks to you I’ll know to plan my visit. Thank you, Shelly!
