If you love vintage furniture and decor but don’t like sifting through a flea market or thrift store, check out this Etsy shop.

I’m loving this Christmas Tree Tea Towel.  It would be a great way to wrap a cookbook or kitchen accessory. And this plate is pretty cute too.

FIVE Spaces That Took My Breath Away

Have you noticed that surfing Pinterest is kinda like shopping at Costco.  You go in for one thing and come up with a cart full of items that weren’t on your list.  In the case of Pinterest, one beautiful image leads to another and the next thing you know you’ve been sitting in your chair for hours and your ‘pin it’ finger hurts.

My latest foray into the Pinterest black hole uncovered some really stunning spaces–space that took my breath away.

My Latest Flea Market Finds–Road Trip Treasures

Flea Market Finds

Whenever we drive to see my mom in Oklahoma, we plan a few pit stops at flea markets and antique stores along the way.  I typically find an item or two but nothing to brag about.  This trip however was different.  I lucked upon lots of unique pieces at great prices. Most of what I found will go in my Etsy shop but I am keeping a couple of items for myself.

Staffordshire dogs are really popular right now and I found a couple of different dog pieces.  The first was this single dalmatian figurine.  I know these were originally sold in a set as bookends but as a single it makes a great decor pieces for a bookshelf.

Flea Market Finds

The other dog pieces I found was this set of dalmatian bookends.  I’m tempted to keep these but into the Etsy shop they’ll go.

Flea Market Finds

This blue and white lidded jar is so cute.  If it wasn’t for its petite size you’d think it was a garden stool.  I snapped this piece up for $5.00 and I’m going to keep it for myself.

Flea Market Finds

I’m also on the look out for brass trays and this one had beautiful details.  It’s pretty large in size and would make a great bar tray.

Flea Market Finds

I love milk glass and see these bowls quite often but have never purchased one.  The embossed fruit motif on the bottom is so intricate and pretty and the bowl is super heavy.

I don’t know how long the brass pineapple trend is going to last but I keep buying them if I can find them at a good price.  I already own two so I’m going to be listing this lidded piece in the shop after I clean it up a bit.

Flea Market Finds

This pretty brass letter holder has me in a quandary…sell or keep?  The design is really pretty and you can tell its a great quality piece. Since I have good luck selling letter holders in my shop I’ll probably sell this one.

I also found a silver-plated one that needs some TLC.  It was less than $3.00 so if it doesn’t clean up well I’ll just keep it.

Flea Market Finds

My favorite find of the trip was this ceramic elephant stool.  It’s in great condition and I practically stool it from the dealer with the price they had on it.

Don’t you just love my latest flea market finds?

For those of you living in Memphis, you might want to check out the Antique Mall Warehouse.  I found most of the chinoiserie  and brass pieces there.

2016 Fall Tablescape–Autumn Colors With A Twist

est

I’m excited to share my fall tablescape with you today.  If you remember, a few weeks ago I shared the fall inspiration board below.  The vision was a table that included blue and white with pops of orange, white and gold.  Like all inspiration boards, the elements were meant to inspire the pattern, color and style direction I wanted for my table.

Fall Entertaining--Fall Tablescape

Here’s where the inspiration led me…

I had so much fun pulling together this fall tablescape and love the orange and navy color palette even more than I thought I would. In the end I decided to pump up the color impact and use orange and blue in more dominant ways.  I also created a more colorful floral arrangement using sunflowers which are one of my favorite flowers.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that one of the most important elements to a beautiful table setting is the layers.  I went all out with this table and included layers from the linens up.  The plush blue tablecloth was made from a remnant piece of velvet I found at JoAnn fabrics.  The orange runner layered on top (it’s actually a tablecloth folded in thirds) was a $5.00 find at a consignment store.  The subtle plaid pattern adds even more visual interest to the table. The last fabric element I added were orange napkins in a slightly darker hue than the runner. The napkins came from HomeGoods.

In creating the place settings, I knew I wanted to use my wood chargers as the foundation. I layered the dinnerware starting with my vintage Blue Willow plates.  Then I added a small wood cheese board and a small blue and white ironstone plate. The wood charger and cheese board add a rustic touch to the table.

I created my floral arrangement in a gold pedestal bowl I bought at HomeGoods last year.  The texture of the bowl resembles the bark of a tree–another visual detail. Surrounding the floral arrangement are different sizes of faux pumpkins, mostly in white and gold.  One orange velvet pumpkin was added as an unexpected element.  Did you notice the feather stems I mixed in with the flowers?  Feathers are a fun fall accent.

To visually elongate the centerpiece, I placed two blue and white ginger jars on each side of the floral arrangement.  The blue and white  chinoiserie pattern plays off the pattern in the dinner plates.

As with most of the tablescapes I create, this one included items I’ve thrifted or purchased for a bargain.  The wood leaf bowl I scored at a thrift store for $2.00 along with the brass candlesticks which were $6.00 for the pair. The white ceramic squirrels I found in the dollar spot at Target. #score

DIY Blue and White Luggage Tags and Handle Wraps

DIY LUGGAGE TAGS & HANDLE WRAPS

DIY Luggage Tags by ConfettiStyle

When I worked in the corporate world and traveled frequently, I had more luggage tags than I knew what to do with.  Over the years I’ve tossed them or they’ve found their way to the same mysterious location that single socks disappear to.  Since we’ll be traveling later this week and I had some scrap fabric lying around, I decided to craft a few handmade luggage tags and handle wraps.

DIY Luggage Tags and Handle Wraps

This is a really quick and easy project and only requires a few supplies.

Supplies needed:

DIY Luggage Tags and Handle Wraps by ConfettiStyle

Kraft tags
Vinyl Fabric Scrap–an 18″ x 18″ square   **(Fabric.com has a great selection of decorative vinyl)
Fabric Glue
Fabric Mod Podge
Mod Podge Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer
Industrial Strength Velcro–4″ x 1″ (available from Wal-Mart)
Metal Grommets and Grommet Tool
Ball Chain Key Chains

***

How-to DIY Luggage Wraps:

To make the luggage wraps, cut a piece of vinyl into a 5″ x 4 1/2″ rectangle.  Turn each edge under 1/4″ and glue the fold down using fabric glue.  This will create a clean, finished edge on each side of the vinyl.

Next, turn the fabric right side up and attached a piece of velcro on the right side of one edge and the underside of the other.  And your luggage wrap is done.

**I used adhesive velcro but a sew-on velcro would also work.

thumb_IMG_3990_1024

How-to DIY Luggage Tags:

Cut a piece of vinyl large enough to wrap completely around the yardstick tag with an overlap of about 1/2″ on the back side.

Use Mod Podge to glue the vinyl onto the tag.  Once dry, cut away the excess fabric, following the outline of the tag.

Use a hole punch to punch a hole at the top of the tag. (you should be able to feel the original hole in the tag under the vinyl).

Before you attach your grommet, coat both sides of the tag with Mod Podge and then seal the entire tag with a clear acrylic sealer.  This will give you tag a durable finish.

And the final step is to add the grommet and ball chains.

tip:  if you want to include contact info on your tag, hand-write or print your name and phone number on a piece of paper to fit the back of the tag. Seal the contact info to the back of the tag with Mod Podge.

DIY Luggage Wraps & Handle Wraps

I’m thrilled with how cute my tags and handle wraps turned out.  In a sea of black luggage, these blue and white luggage accessories will really stand out.

I love conceptualizing beautiful tablescapes and finding the unique elements that bring my vision to life.

For my fall table this year, I’m dreaming of blue and white decor with pops of orange and accents of wood.  I want the table to have a rustic but elegant feel with a vintage vibe.  Here’s how I see the table coming together…

A Few Of My Favorite Blue & White Vignettes

Blue & White Vignette

♦  My Favorite Blue & White Vignettes  ♦

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of all things blue and white especially blue and white chinoiserie decor.  Although I really started building my blue and white collection, this classic and timeless look is one I’ve always been inspired by. Here’s a look at a few of my all-time favorite blue & white vignettes.

Blue is a color that mixes well with just about other color but one of my favorite color combos is blue and orange.  This vignette is the perfect way to dress up a small foyer and make a statement with just a few dynamic pieces.

Or you can keep the color palette to just blue and white.  Don’t you just love how the lines on the mirror replicate the lines on the console? #detailsmakedesign

I’m a sucker for blue and white ceramic pieces and this vignette was built to showcase each and every decorative piece.

Nothing makes a dynamic tablescape like this collected grouping of objects you see in this vignette.  If you ever come across a blue and white piece missing its lid, keep in mind that it can be used as a flower vase.

What’s not to love about this bar cart vignette?  The blue and blue pieces add personality and relate to that amazing wall decor.

Then there’s the idea of using blue and white to dress up a party table.  So much inspiration in this one beautiful vignette!

A blue and white statement lamp is a great way to add impact and elegance to a bedroom.

If you’re an avid flea market shopper like me,  keep your eyes open for inexpensive blue and white plates.  Hung on a wall, a collection of plates is really dynamic.
