Gift Wrap Inspiration: Blue, Yellow & Silver Wedding Wrap

Hi friends.  I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend.  I sure did!

I’m back today with another gift wrap inspiration post for you.  Over the years I’ve shared wrapping ideas for birthdays, mother’s day, Valentine’s day and other special occasions but never for a wedding.  Today I’m sharing inspiration for a wedding along with a few wedding specific gift wrapping tips. Enjoy!

Blue & White Wedding Gift Wrap by ConfettiStyle

The past couple of years we have not attended many weddings but this year is different.  We have several weddings between now and August and that means some fun gift wrapping for me.

When I wrap wedding gifts I like to use paper, ribbon and embellishments that coordinate with the colors for the wedding.  It’s such an easy way to make the gift even more special.

Blue & White Wedding Gift Wrap by ConfettiStyle

The hubs and I will be attending a family wedding this weekend where the colors are blue, yellow and silver.   The color combination is perfect for a summer wedding and it provided great inspiration for wrapping our gift.

Wedding Gift Wrap Inspiration:  Blue, Yellow & Silver

Since our gift is in a large box, I used a wrapping paper with a bold pattern.  The blue and white lattice design is perfect for a wedding and the pattern is feminine without being too girly.

tip:  buy wrapping paper that can work for more than one occasion and then use embellishments to make the wrapping formal or casual, depending on the event

Once the box was wrapped, I tried a wide white grosgrain ribbon around it and then layered a navy silk ribbon on top.  I cut the navy ribbon long enough so I could tie multiple bows on top.

To add in the yellow color, I created a flower bouquet for the top of the box using silk flowers I picked up at the Dollar Store.

The final touch was a silver glitter gift tag that I dressed up with yellow and navy fabric flowers from the craft store.

Using different styles of flowers added interest and gave the top of the box a personalized feel.

It’s wedding season so if you’ll be wrapping wedding gifts, keep these tips in mind…

GIFT WRAPPING TIPS FOR WEDDING GIFTS

  1. If you don’t want to coordinate your gift wrap with the wedding colors, it’s always classic to use white or silver wrapping paper.
  2. Always attach a gift tap or card securely to your gift.  Or better yet, place the card inside the box and attach a tag with the couples name on it to the outside of the box.
  3. If you’re planning on giving an envelope containing money or gift cards, put those items in an envelope and wrap a ribbon around it.  A ribbon will signify that the envelope it is a gift so it doesn’t get missed or tossed out.
  4. Embellishments are a fun way to accent your gift wrap and make your gift extra special.  My favorite gift embellishments include silk flowers, oversized monogram letters and crystal beads.

I’m really trying to justify purchasing this gorgeous blue and white ice bucket by Aerin for William Sonoma.  I mean after all it’s more than an ice bucket as demonstrated by Lucy of Craftberry Bush who styled it as a flower vase. #ineed

MOTHER’S DAY GIFT GUIDE–ONLY THE BEST FOR MOM!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and making sure mom feels loved and appreciated on her special day (and everyday) is top of my list.  As I’ve gotten older, I’ve really come to understand the courage, dedication and selflessness that it takes to be a mother.  My mom is one special lady and along with teaching me about life she instilled in me the power to dream big and reach for my goals. Priceless gifts.

To help you celebrate your mom on Mother’s Day I’ve curated a gift guide filled with special pieces from a few of my favorite stores and online shops.

♦ Amara.com is a new online shop I recently discovered and to say I love everything on their site is an understatement.  They sell a wide range of products from over 300 of the leading home decor, gift and fashion brands around.  p.s.  I’ll be sharing more about Amara in a couple of weeks along with a fun collaboration I’m doing with them!

♦  BaubleBar continues to be one of my favorite sources for fashion jewelry.  Not only are their prices good but their tassel earring collection is hard to beat.  I want one of everything.

When we lived in Seattle, Nordstrom was a favorite shopping spot for clothing, handbags and shoes.  And now I love shopping their gift and home departments for unique items.  Mark you calendar for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which will take place July 21-August 6th.

Mark & Graham is my go-to source for high-quality leather goods, entertaining items and accessories for both men and women. And I love that so many of their items can be personalized with a monogram.

Happy weekend friends!

I don’t know about you but I can’t wait for spring to get here.  When I was driving home the other day I noticed that the The weather in my neck of the woods as been all over the place.  One day it’s 40 degrees and the next day it’s 70.  I need mother nature to settle down and bring us some consistent warmth and lots of sunshine.

Until then, enjoy a few of my favorites from the week.

My Valentine’s Day Tablescape

Valentine’s Day Tablescape In My Favorite Colors

Valentine's Tablescape by ConfettiStyle

This year Valentine’s Day was going to be super low-key because my hubby was scheduled to have dental surgery that morning.  Luck was on our side and his dental work was pushed up to this week so now we can plan something a little more special.  We thought about going out to dinner but have decided to stay in, relax and enjoy the evening.

To make the table feel a little special I pulled together this colorful Valentines tablescape using my favorite colors along with a few of my blue & white ceramic pieces.

Valentine's Tablescape by ConfettiStyle

Whenever I’m creating a tablescape, I start with the centerpiece.  I’ve always want to use tissue paper honeycomb balls down the center of the table and this was the perfect occasion.   PaperMart, one of my go-to sources for gift wrap and paper products sells tissue paper honeycomb balls in 2 sizes and 9 great colors.  I used a combination of the 8″ and 10″ balls in red, pink and white.  The smaller white honeycomb balls came from Ikea.

Valentine's Tablescape by ConfettiStyle

I place a red table runner down the center of the table and filled a vintage milk glass vase with faux peonies. I placed two of my vintage (and thrifted) blue and white chinoiserie jars on each side of the flower vase. And the final step was scattering the honeycomb balls down the table, in and round the vase and jars.

As with all the tablescapes I create, this one includes layers of color, texture and pattern.

Once the centerpiece was complete I added my place settings.

I used black and white striped placemats to add a graphic pattern to the table.  Square white dinner plates and the new blue and white floral plates I found at HomeGoods recently finished the place setting.

This is one of the easiest centerpiece I’ve ever pulled together and I love the way it turned out.

I’m going to have fun using these honeycomb balls for all sorts of party and entertaining decor this year. And they have even spurred an idea for my 2017 Christmas decor.

Love is definitely in the air at our house?  How do you plan on celebrating Valentine’s Day?

Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide (aka–things I would want)

Happy day friends!

I’m just dropping in to share one last holiday gift guide with you.  It’s my Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide and it is near and dear to my heart.  All of the items on the list are chic, stylish and something I’d personally love for Santa to deliver to my door.

Have you been looking for a gift for that special someone and haven’t found it yet?  This gift guide is here to help.

Happy shopping!

The Ultimate Holiday Gift Guide

♦  I love everything that Lollia makes including this Lollia Poetic License Diffuser ($48).  Scent diffusers are a great way to add fragrance to a home without burning candles. I especially love to use diffusers in a bathroom or tuck one away in a guest bedroom.

♦  This Gilded Monogram DOF Glass ($18) is a good gift for someone (like me) that loves to entertain. One, two or four make a great hostess gift or family gift.  If you’re celebrating the holidays at a New Year’s Eve party, a set glasses would be ideal to ring in the new year.

♦  A pretty necklace can make an outfit. The Silver Links Statement Necklace ($29.99) is a gift that will be enjoyed long after the holidays are over.

♦ Emerald Green is one of my favorite colors and you can’t beat the price on this Green Pashmina Style Shawl ($5.99)!  It’s the perfect layering piece over a sweater or under a coat. One for them, one for me.√

♦  You’ll wow anyone with a gift of these Silver Mercury Glass Hurricane Candleholder ($11.89-$19.59).  They will look stunning grouped in the center of a table or next to the hearth.  And I’d also use them as vases by dropping a clear glass jar inside to hold flowers.  Check your local Cost Plus because these are selling out quickly online.

♦  Pretty {and functional) gloves are hard to come by but this pair of Echo Touch Zip Boucle’ Tech Gloves ($39) checks both boxes.  You can operate a cell phone with ease and stay warm while doing it.

♦  This L’Objet Malachite Tray ($120) is the most expensive gift in the gift guide but it is a beauty.  Envision this sitting on a side table, night stand or vanity holding pretty perfume bottles.

♦  If you’ve never read any of Steve Harvey’s books, I recommend you do. His books are filled with solid wisdom, advice and lots of laughs too.  I can’t wait to read his newest book, Jump: Take the Leap Of Faith to Achieve Your Life of Abundance ($18.04).

♦  A girl can never have too many handbags.  The Crossbody Bag with Metallic Straps ($39.90) is a great bag for weekend shopping or traveling when you need hands free.

♦ I’m always stuffing my electronic cords in a zippered pouch but they never stay organized.  The idea of something to keep everything neat and tidy is so appealing.  I love this Leather Charger Roll Up ($49) because its compact and comes in fun colors.

♦  Personalized stationery just might be one of best gifts you can give someone. This 7 Tablet Notepad Set with Holder ($41) is a great price and personalization is available in array of colors.

DIY Holly Leaf Swizzle Sticks

DIY Holly Leaf Swizzle Sticks by Confettistyle

I promised I’d give you the low down on how I made these cute Holly Leaf Swizzle Sticks so today I’m sharing the tutorial so you can whip out a few of these for yourself.

img_4969

First let’s talk supplies.

You’ll need wood cocktail stir sticks with a holiday sentiment on them.  I found my cocktail sticks at HomeGoods but found similar ones at TJMaxx and on Etsy.  If you’re shopping HomeGoods/TJMaxx look for the sticks in near the checkout line or back with the gift tags and holiday ribbon.  I spotted them in both spots in my local stores.

tip:  you could also use monogram stir sticks which you can find here.

img_1851

Merry Christmas Stir Sticks via Tulle and Twig on Etsy

Next you’ll need holly leaf embellishments to add to your swizzle sticks.  I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby but these exact ones don’t seem to be available online.  These 3-D holly leaf stickers are similar.  Or you could use these cute gift package stickers for another look.

img_1849

The last thing you’ll need is temporary  glue dots.  If you’re not familiar with glue dots, they are like adhesive tape but come in individual dots instead of one long strip like regular tape.

tip: the best part about using  dots is the fact that they aren’t permanent.  After your holiday party you can remove the holly leaf embellishment and use them again.

Glue Dots

Now the hard work begins.

Step 1:  Hold a swizzle stick in one hand and attach a glue dot to the front of the stick under the circular topper.

Step 2:  Attach a holly leaf embellishment on top of the glue dot to hold it in place. **the holly leaf embellishment I used had a small stem so after I attached it to the glue dot I wrapped the stem around the stick.

Voila!  You’ve got yourself really Christmas Swizzle Sticks in no time flat.

tlcbb

img_4968

img_4969

tip:  Swizzle sticks also make a great hostess gifts add-on with a bottle of wine.

Making these swizzle sticks is hard work so I recommend you sit back and enjoy a holiday cocktail after you make a couple of set.  Enjoy!
