Holiday Decorating Ideas From The Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour

Christmas Tree Setting--2015

Whew! The Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour is a wrap! I’ve loved getting to snoop around the holiday homes of my talented blogging friends and hope you all have too. Not only was the decor inspiring but I picked up several new holiday decorating ideas and tips along the way. I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorites with you!

I love this simple yet bold mantel decor from Yuni @ LoveYourAbode.  The large hand scripted sign really makes a statement and the black and white color theme is so refreshing.

Kellie  from Design Asylum really showed me how beautiful pattern mixing can be in a tablescape.  I love the tartan plaid mixed with a traditional scroll pattern and those malachite print napkins.  Now I’m on the hunt for plaid plate and next year I’m definitely going to go all out with the pattern mixing on my table.

I’ve always loved decorating with fresh greens and Elaine from OMG Lifestyle showed me how beautiful natural greens can look in a vase.  A great alternative to fresh flowers.

I have a lot of glass cloches but have never showcased ornaments in them.  After seeing this (and others) from Kate @ Chic On A Shoestring Decorating, I’ll definitely be stealing this idea in the future. Such an easy way to create a holiday vignette.

Tamyra from Positively Southern provided lots of inspiration on how to dress the newel post at the end of the staircase with this beautiful ornament cluster.  Definitely another inspiring idea.

Even little touches like these lamp ties can make a big impact when decorating.  I’m inspired to drape all the lamps in my house thanks to Marsha at M.Jones Style.

Debbie from Refresh ReStyle has so many beautiful holiday touches thought here home but her front porch urns were really impressive. An all it took was a few clippings from mother nature and an artful arrangement.

And Amy from Amy Howard Social showed us all how to create a fun and whimsical holiday tablescape for the big and little kids in the family.

An in case you’re wondering what the favorite part of my holiday home is, it has to be my tree because of the family photos.

Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour–The Finale!

Merry and Bright FINAL

Well friends, it’s sad to see the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour come to an end.  Over the last two weeks me and the 8 other bloggers that are a part of the tour have shared our Christmas trees, front doors, holiday tablescapes and much more.  I hope you’ve been inspired  by all the holiday merriment.

If you’re coming over from OMG Lifestyle Blog, welcome.  It’s been so fun to see Elaine’s beautiful holiday decor over the last three weeks.I know you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.

With just 9 days left before Christmas, I can officially say I’m finished decorating!  Today I’m sharing the final holiday touches I added around the house (warning: lots of photos ahead).

BEDROOM DECOR

Christmas Bedroom 2015

One of my favorite rooms to decorate at Christmas is the bedroom.  I love lying in bed at night surrounded by holiday cheer.

I hung a wreath on the headboard and draped the mirrors over the nightstand with holly leaf garland.

Christmas Decor 2015-14

I kept the black and white pillows I had on the bed all summer and added the fur-trimmed tartan pillow from HomeGoods.

One set of standard pillowcases was changed out to red.

Christmas Decor 2015-11

The black and white dot ottoman at the foot of the bed is dressed up with red and green pillows and a red throw.

Christmas Decor 2015-6

I placed the lighted marquee JOY signed I made last year at a Home Depot Do-it-Herself workshop on top of the armoire and draped some garland around it.

The JOY sign is on a timer and I go to sleep each night with the soft glow of the lights.

Christmas Decor 2015-12

I wanted to address garland to my dress form last year but never got around to it.  This year I made it happen.

Instead of fresh greenery, I used artificial greenery sprays and hung them from a belt that is wrapped at the waist.

LITTLE TOUCHES IN THE KITCHEN

Nothing major in the kitchen except this corner vignette with a mix of vintage, new and handcrafted items.

MY WORKSPACE

I replaced the inspiration board that normally hangs over my desk with this chalkboard and added a small Christmas tree in a brass urn next to the lamp.

MY HOLIDAY GIFT WRAP

After making my mobile giftwrap crate, I got busy wrapping gifts.

In addition to wrapping gifts with paper, I placed some gifts in decorative boxes I picked up at Target and Container Store.  The solid colored boxes mixed great with my wrapping paper designs so I’ve got a fun mix of packages under the tree.

SPECIAL TOUCHES

I framed my childhood stocking after seeing client do this with hers and hung it on my bedroom door.

Christmas Decor 2015-5

I found an oversized brass scales of justice at a thrift store and placed it on the table near the tree.  I set small gifts inside the tray.

The fur-trimmed stockings I made last year are hung and ready to be filled with goodies.
