A Pink Rug For The Win! {It’s pretty & budget friendly}

New Dining Room Rug by ConfettiStyle--Dorset Oriental Rug from Wayfair

After hanging our new dining room chandelier, I was on a mission to find a rug to go under the table.  The hubs usually doesn’t have much to say when it comes to our decor but he let me know he wanted a rug with some color in it.

With my marching orders in hand, I set out to find a rug.  I looked at wholesale options, stalked HomeGoods and checked out RugsUSA.com.  Nada! Nothing.  Then one day I decided to look at Wayfair because as the jingle goes…Wayfair you got just what I need!   And they did!

I originally started looking at blue rugs but nothing made my heart flutter.  Next I looked at pink rugs, hot pink to be exact since that’s one of my favorite colors.  Plus there were already touches of pink in our living room so I knew a pink rug would work.  When I typed pink into the search box, lots of pretty rugs came up like this one.  I kept adding rugs I liked to my shopping cart and once I had the choices narrowed down, I reviewed them with the hubby.

We chose the Dorset Oriental Fuchsia Rug and we love it. The rug is the perfect combo of pink and navy with small accents of other colors. And the price was amazing–$ 142.99 for the 8′ x 10′ with free 2-day shipping.

 After ordering it, I was concerned that the pink would be too bright.  It’s actually muted in person (below) and all of the colors are blended nicely within the pattern.

Here’s another look at the rug under our table.  If you’re wondering why I’m not showing you our entire dining space, it’s because I have a fall tablescape in progress. I’ll be sharing the entire space next week as part of a Fall Soiree Progressive Dinner Blog Hop so stay tuned.

If you like the style of the rug but pink isn’t your color, it’s available in three other colors.

Design Idea: Contrasting King & Queen Dining Chairs

Contrasting King & Queen Dining Chairs

Years ago when we bought our first house in Seattle, I wanted a cohesive and consistent look with my decor.  I hadn’t really defined my design style and fell into the trap of buying an entire room grouping from a local furniture store.  I thought the furniture group would give me the consistency I was looking for and I could then use accessories to add the personality.  Over the years my style has evolved, my design skills have been honed and  today I would never think of purchasing a package group of furniture.  It’s also something I steer my design clients away from because there are so many other ways to create a cohesive design statement in your home.

The point I’m trying to make is that your decor should be just as multi-dimensional as you are.  It should be a combination of things that give your home its personality.

There are lots of ways to add unique flair to your decor and one of my favorites is with mixing up your dining room chairs. If your style in eclectic and whimsical you can use a mix of different chairs around the table.  Or you can replace your king & queen chairs with pieces that make a statement.

DESIGN PERSONALITY USING KING & QUEEN DINING CHAIRS

I love the look of this dining room with oversized king & queen chairs in a neutral fabric that works with the wallpaper and other textiles in the room.

Contrasting king & queen chairs are an easy way to introduce bold patternwrok into the dining room.  Using a similar chair shape as the side chairs creates a sense of balance and symmetry around the table.

Upholstered end chairs help to anchor a dining table especially when the table is oversized or the side chairs are sleek and see-thru.

These dining spaces just ooze personality with a mix of chair styles and banquette seating.  If you’re considering switching out your king & queen chairs, upholstered club chairs are always a good choice.

Just like drapes, upholstered end chairs will help to visually soften the hard surfaces within a dining room.
