A couple of days ago I shared a few of my favorite spaces from the One Room Challenge featured bloggers.  Here’s one of my favorite makeovers from a guest participant, Design Enthusiasm.  If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times…the power of paint is amazing when you’re decorating !

FAVORITE PINS

One of my go-to sources for tabletop inspiration is Celebrations At Home.  Chris creates some of the most beautifully style party and entertaining tables.  This blue tablescape she styled for a bridal brunch is just so pretty.

FAVORITE PRODUCTS

I’m really trying to justify purchasing this gorgeous blue and white ice bucket by Aerin for William Sonoma.  I mean after all it’s more than an ice bucket as demonstrated by Lucy of Craftberry Bush who styled it as a flower vase. #ineed

Have you checked out the Zara Home website yet?  So many cute items for home and personal use.  The bright pattern on this floral cosmetic bag caught my eye.

I just noticed that TJ Maxx has started to sell window valances in store and on-line.  They have some nice designs and you can’t beat the price–$16.99.  This Water Medallion Valance from Nicole Miller is one of my faves.

Favorites Of The Week: DIY Transformations

I am sooooooo happy that it’s the weekend.  It’s been an extra busy week running from one appointment to another, working on design projects and battling a sore throat.

I am prone to coming down with a cold whenever there are fluctuations in the weather like we’ve been having.  #ugh!  I doing some shopping with a client tomorrow and then I’m spending the rest of the weekend at home gearing up for another busy week.

Here’s my roundup for favorite posts from the week, all great DIY inspiration.

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!

FIVE Spaces That Took My Breath Away

Have you noticed that surfing Pinterest is kinda like shopping at Costco.  You go in for one thing and come up with a cart full of items that weren’t on your list.  In the case of Pinterest, one beautiful image leads to another and the next thing you know you’ve been sitting in your chair for hours and your ‘pin it’ finger hurts.

My latest foray into the Pinterest black hole uncovered some really stunning spaces–space that took my breath away.

Design Inspiration that will blow your mind!

This post requires that you grab and cup of coffee or tea and plop yourself in a cushy chair because you’re going to want to spend some time checking out every detail of these amazing home tours and photos!   When you’re done, leave me a comment and let me know which was your favorite.

KariAnne shared this home tour on her blog and it stopped me in my tracks.  It just might be one of the most beautiful homes in the history of forever.

Paint Inspiration: The Power of Paint

Paint

The design advice I give most often to clients whether it’s a big project or a small one is all the power of paint.  Paint is the cheapest and easiest way to transform the look, feel and style of a piece of furniture, a room or even and door.

If you want to make a change within your decor but don’t want to spend a lot of money achieving a new look, consider paint.

Painting a piece of furniture can turn a country vibe into a beautiful french inspired look.

Replacing the mirrored back with bead board also adds style as does updated drawers and door pulls.

After Furniture1

A basic unfinished and inexpensive piece of furniture can become a stylish piece with just a quick coat of paint.

If you want to add a bit more drama to your decor, paint can help you do that too!  Black is becoming a classic in furniture and gives a piece of furniture a sophisticated feel.

tidbits and twine

This is one of my favorite before and afters ever.  A cheap wood cabinet looks like something you’d find in a custom home after paint, trim and pulls.

tip:  use wood picture frames as trim instead of custom cutting your own

And even the country’s top designers will tell you that painting kitchen cabinets can give your entire kitchen an updated and new feel.

White cabinets are back in vogue and set against a dramatic wall color AND painted backsplash (yes, paint that too), this kitchen looks fabulous.

Easy decorative updates as just a few strokes away so don’t be afraid to give paint a try when you are ready for a new look at home.

Timeless Trends–Ten Looks That Won’t Go Out Of Style

Remember when this look was in style…..

Retro decor

As a designer, I’m often asked by clients and friends about whether a particular color, fabric or materials is in or out of style.  On the surface that might be a hard question to answer because everything that’s in style will eventually go out of style and then most likely come back in style again.  The image above is from the early 70’s and the fabric and styling of that sofa are in demand today.  And the image below, also from the 70’s, is the tulip table and chairs are just as popular today as they were back then.

While styles and trends come and go, there are some design elements that I think fall into the timeless category and will always provide a classic look when decorating.

Want to know what those timeless trends are?

Well, here’s a look at Ten Trends That Won’t Go Out Of Style…

Have you ever spent time looking through all the amazing recipes on Pinterest.  It’s kinda like walking through Costco on food sample Saturday–it can be dangerous.  I recently came across this recipe and will definitely be making it in the coming days.  It looks so yummy!
