Marriage Tips–25 Years in The Making!

Today is a really special day in my life because the hubby and I are celebrating a major milestone.   It’s our 25th wedding anniversary!

25 years ago I walked down the aisle to my love and best friend and said I do.  As I look back on the last 25 years I am grateful that we’ve been blessed with a marriage that has grown in strength and love.  Marriage is not always easy but with dedication, respect and love it can be great.

25 marriage tipsI swear by

True love blossoms when you care about another person more than you care about yourself.

♦♦

Communicating is far more about listening and understanding than it is about talking.

♦♦

Always give a hug or kiss before leaving the house.  This might seem like a little thing in a marriage but often times it’s the little gestures that can have the biggest impact over time.  Even today when my husband leaves for work at 6:15 in the morning, he comes and gives me a kiss on the forehead.  I may not always feel the kiss on my forehead but I feel it in my heart.

♦♦

Marriage Quote2♦♦

Go out of your way to do things that make each other happy.

♦♦

Don’t say things you’ll regret! If I had to pick one thing about my marriage that I am most proud of, it would be that in our 25 years of marriage we have never used profanity towards each other, screamed at each other or called each other names.  We respect our marriage and each other enough not to use words that are demeaning, disrespectful or belittling.

♦♦

Respect each other with both your words and your actions.

♦♦

Marriage Quote6

♦♦

Don’t sweat the small stuff!  My parents were married for 27 years before my dad passed away and this is one of the pieces of wisdom she shared with me before I got married.

♦♦

Create a clear vision of your shared future together. Sit down, listen to each other and write out how you want your future as a couple to look.

♦♦

Marriage Quote

♦♦

Don’t go to bed angry!

♦♦

Don’t keep score! Trying to make your relationship fifty-fifty proposition will cause a lot of unnecessary tension and you don’t need that. So unless your spouse is a total slacker,  recognize that in a happy marriage both partners try to help their mate carry the load.

♦♦

Love is as much about saying I love you as it is about showing the other person you love them.

♦♦

Marriage Quote3

♦♦

Never lose the art of dating.  Select an activity where the two of you can interact, talk, and just be together enjoying each other’s company.

♦♦

To have a really happy marriage, you need to work at it. As the saying goes, the only place you find success before work is in the dictionary.

♦♦

Marriage Quote8

♦♦

Take time to have some fun together every day!

♦♦

The best way to strengthen a marriage is to support and assist each other in being the best you can be. A strong marriage is one in which both people understand that the other person needs to have outside interests and activities which help them to feel happy and fulfilled.

♦♦

A strong marriage is one where both people understand that it is more important to be happy than it is to be right.

♦♦

Marriage Quote7

♦♦

Never stop growing together. Atrophy is the natural process when you stop working a muscle, just as it is if you stop working on your relationship. Find common goals, dreams and visions to work towards.

♦♦

Marriage Quote5

♦♦

And above all, thank God everyday for your marriage and your mate.

Here’s to another 25 years of love and happiness!

Printable Art–My Love Note Designs

Thank you for all the wonderful comments on our spring bedroom refresh.

Today I wanted to share a little more about the beautiful prints I used in the bedroom.  I knew I wanted to place a grouping of images on the wall next to the window and closet to my side of the bed.  You see that wall when you enter the room so I wanted to make an impact.  I also knew that whatever I hung I that wall would be hung in gold frames.

Since one of the goals for the refresh was to add more accents of gold into the space, frames were an obvious and easy solution.

All four of the prints I used are from an awesome Etsy shop called MyLoveNotedesigns.  The shop is run by Christina who personally designs all of the printable art, many which contain inspirational words and positive messages.  Christina opened her Etsy shop in 2014 after starting a family and leaving an accounting career and the corporate world behind.  Christina said she started designing her prints as a way to inspire and remind herself of what is meaningful in life and to personally connect with others.

The collection of prints I choose to use were perfect for a bedroom space and also allowed me to add a touch of personalization into the room.  The LOVE print is one of my favorite designs and gold foil is so pretty once printed.  The HEART of flowers couldn’t have been more perfect for our room with a black background and pink flowers.  I also choose a monogram print and love how Christina has added flowers to give the design a special touch.  The last design in the group reads All Of Me Loves All Of You and I love both the message and the delicate details of the design.

Once printed, I placed each image in a Ikea frame which I spray painted gold using Rustoleum Bright Coat Spray Paint (which happens to be my favorite gold spray paint)

I’ve purchased several printable images from Etsy in the past and I must say that the collection of designs that MyLoveNotedesigns offers is one of the best.  There are over 450 designs to choose from including gold foil, nursery designs, calendars, meal planners, expense trackers and weekly planners and most of the designs are $5.00 or less.  And, Christina also offers custom orders if you have a specific design in mind.

Because there are so many great prints, picking your favorites will be tough but you can use my list of top 10 to help you shop…

Valentine’s Bucket of Love

Happy Friday.  I’ve got a fun little Valentine’s craft for you today.

My sweetie loves to snack and his snack of choice is anything in the NUT family.  My friend Robyne knows his obsession because anytime she makes a batch of her delicious cookies for us she has to make some special for the Mr. with nuts in them.

This year one of the gifts I’ll be giving my guy of 22 years is a handcrafted Bucket of Love, filled with nuts!

This was a super easy and quick project and would work as a great Valentine’s gift container for anyone on your love list.
