Ever since Nate came out with gold paperclips I’ve been obsessed.  They do the same thing as silver paperclips but they’re just so much more chic. Available from InkKit.

Whenever I share an inspirational room photo here on the blog my intent is for you to walk away with one or two ideas that you might want to try in your own home.

The image I’m sharing with you above is filled with so many great ideas…

the power of wallpaper
the beauty of lucite
how a pop of color can make an impact
proof that every room needs a touch of black
and
design details matter!

There is so much more amazing inspiration in this office space, so head over to Waiting on Martha to see the entire room!

Design tip:  Infusing your personality into your decor is just as important as the items you have on display.  Use colors you love, display objects you adore and  create a home that is a reflection of you!

Planning For The New Year In Style

I usually wait until October or November to share my favorite calendars for the new year but this year it couldn’t wait.  I wanted to make sure you’ve all seen what I am now claiming as my new favorite-all-time-planner!

Even though I’ve read about this planner on other blogs and I know lots of fellow designers and bloggers are already using it, it wasn’t until I took a serious look at it for myself that I fell in love with it.

Rooms Inspired by HomeGoods–Blue and White Lamps

Happy Hump Day!  I hope your week is going swell and that you are doing great things!

Today I wanted to share with you a  few room designs I created, inspired by HomeGoods.

Every time I walk through HomeGoods, I find myself snapping pictures and envisioning how I’d use a particular item in a room.  Instead of keeping my imagination to myself, I’ve decided to share my vision with you in a new series that will be popping up on the blog from time to time.  It’s called Rooms Inspired by HomeGoods.  Sometimes I’ll be sharing room designs, sometimes it might be an entertaining tablescape or it might be a vision I have for chic bathroom.  The rooms and spaces I feature will vary, but the inspiration will all come from something I’ve spotted at HomeGoods.

DIY Business Card File

I have tried several methods for storing all the business cards I get from clients, bloggers,  trade shows and businesses I frequent and some have been more successful than others.  My latest storage option has been to file my cards by alphabet in a Rolodex business card binder.  The notebook format has worked great and I like that it can be stored on a bookshelf or in a file drawer, plus the cards have stayed neat and organized.  That is until I ran out of room.

Once all the slots for a particular letter were filled up, I began placing the extra cards toward the back of the book, in no particular order.  You can image that this makes it difficult to find a card in a hurry.  I’ve reached the point where  my file runneth over.  I needed a new solution.

5 Things

Happy Thursday!  It’s almost the weekend and I couldn’t be more excited.  The week after a vacation can be crazy and I am in need of a little extra sleep this weekend.

Have seen those post around blogland that highlight 5 things going on in the bloggers life at the moment?  I always enjoy reading them and decided to do my version from time to time here on ConfettiStyle.  It’s just a fun way of letting you take a peek into my life.

MAKING:  my project list is long and the first thing I’m tackling is a DIY stationery caddy inspired by this.

EATING:  There are so many reasons to love summer but eating cherries on a daily basis is one of the best parts of the season.  This easy cherry tart has become by favorite summer treat.

READING: I am finally breaking down and ordering a subscription to this magazine because it is always filled with great business advise and inspiration.

PLANNING:  I’m excited to be attending the Haven Conference for the first time and I’m starting to get prepared for it.  I ordered this cute jumpsuit to wear and these business cards (at 50% off) which couldn’t be more perfect for ConfettiStyle!

ENJOYING:  Sometimes your best creative ideas come when you are alone and this video makes me smile every time I look at it.   Brilliant!

So what’s been going on in your life?

p.s.  it’s gift giving season in my world and I’ve got some fun gift wrap inspiration post to share with you next week

Living Large in a Small Space

Happy Monday!  I’m wishing everyone a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow on this beautiful St. Patrick’s Day.

The post I shared last week about Nate Berkus and his skill of decorating small spaces couldn’t have been timed any better.  I’ve got a real life small space challenge on my mind.

Do you remember when you went off to college and stepped into your dorm room for the first time?  All I could think was how small the space was and how in the world was I ever going to fit all my clothes into that closet. My dorm room looked a little like this.

Living in a  dorm room was my first experience with small space living.  My roommate Kathy and I decorated our dorm room as best we could–hung posters, rearranged furniture and added a rug.  It was a pretty space but no where close to how dorm rooms are looking these days.
