Gift Wrap Inspiration: Floral Paper Wrapped Boxes

img_4361

I’m back with another Gift Wrap Inspiration post and this one is sure to go down as one of the easiest gift wrap ideas ever.

The idea was inspired by a box I spotted at HomeGoods.  It was a simple idea–a paper mache’ kraft box wrapped with pretty paper.  The minute I saw it, I recognized what a great concept it was for people who don’t like to wrap gifts, have a ton of gifts to wrap or need to wrap a gift in a hurry. Or in other words, it’s a wrapping project that anyone can do.

Here’s what you’ll need to recreate these pretty floral wrapped boxes…

1

Paper Mache Kraft Boxes come in a wide range of shapes and sizes and can be purchased at any of the big craft stores.  You’ll find the widest range of shapes from Amazon and they offer the best pricing is you are buying in bulk.  I’ve also spotted these boxes at Goodwill from time to time so be on the look out there too!

2

Next you’ll need wrapping paper.  Since I have somewhat of a paper obsession, I’m always looking for pretty paper when out shopping. The animal print floral and the black and white stripe paper came from Hobby Lobby (currently on sale for $2.00/pk of 6).  This paper is actually decoupage paper but the weight makes it suitable for wrapping gifts.  The other two floral papers are from Papyrus (similar here and here).

tip:  this is a great project to use those wrapping paper scraps you might have lying around

3

(black and white chevron // fuchsia two-tone //  green textured lines)

And of course a beautifully wrapped gift wouldn’t be complete without pretty ribbon.  If you’ve read my blog for a while, you know that MayArts is one of my go-to sources for ribbon.  They have hundreds of styles, patterns and materials to choose from so you’ll easily find the perfect ribbon for your gift wrapping projects.

fyi:  MayArts used to be a wholesale supplier only  but now anyone can purchase from their site

4

Now comes the easy part…measure, cut and wrap the bottom of each box with wrapping paper, using double-sided tape to secure the ends and edges.  To create the ribbon ties, tape two pieces of ribbon on opposite sides inside the lid of the box.  Place the lid on the box and tie a bow.

note: You can also cover the lids of the boxes like I did with one of my boxes.

9

Just think of all the paper and ribbon possibilities you have with this wrapping idea. And with the busy holiday season fast approaching, you’ll want to stock up on paper, ribbon and boxes now so you’ll have everything you’ll need for holiday gift giving.

Ribbon Tie Boxes

Paper is not always a requirement when it comes to wrapping gifts.  I created these Ribbon Tie Boxes in a flash and boy have they gotten lots of love on Pinterest.  You can find the set of nesting boxes at the Container Store and all of the ribbon came from my favorite ribbon source, May Arts.

Flower Band Gift Wrap

This Flower Band giftwrap project was inspired by a cake design I spotted on Pinterest.  I use a variety of faux flowers and made a beautiful flower wrap for a plain white gift box.  If you’re looking for a creative way to wrap a gift for a wedding or baby shower, this idea is great.

Signature Colors

Way back in 2012 I wrote a blog post about wrapping gifts in my signature colors.  Much like Tiffany & Co. I have a signature wrap.  My go-to colors are red and hot pink and I’m always looking for wrapping paper and ribbon in that color combo. If you spot any, let me know.

Paper Lace Bands

If you’re not a ribbon hoarder collector like I am, my Paper Lace Band project shows you how to make a paper wrap for gifts.  I used the Fiskars Advantedge Paper Punch System and scrapbook paper to make these pretty gold paper bands.

DIY Holiday Wrapping Crate

Last Christmas I made this DIY Holiday Wrapping Crate to hold the papers, ribbons and tags that I used to wrap our gifts.  I embellished the crate with a Merry & Bright decal and added wheels so I could easily move it from room to room. The crate will get a refresh this Christmas and I’ll share it during the 2nd annual Merry & Bright Holiday Home Blog Tour I’m hosting with Kellie from Design Asylum.

I’ll have a new gift wrap post for you later this month so stay tuned.

Anyone else share in my love of wrapping gifts?

Things I Love: French Ribbon

Amy Butler for Renaissance Ribbons

Amy Butler

If I won the lottery, one of my splurges would be to buy hundreds and maybe even thousands of dollars of beautiful ribbon.  I adore ribbon especially if it’s intricately designed and beautifully woven.

I have several go-to shopping sources for ribbon including this one and this one , but I am thrilled to have just uncovered what might be the holy grail of beautiful French ribbon.

Renaissance Ribbons was started by Edith Minne whose love affair for French ribbon started over 20 years ago.  She turned her passion into a thriving business and today the company designs, creates and supplies their goods to thousands of wholesale companies worldwide and employs 18 designers who create their patterns.

The collection of styles available from Renaissance is vast, each one just as beautiful as the next.

DIY Holiday Mug Wraps–2015 Edition

Holiday Mug Wraps by ConfettiStyle.001

Last year one of my favorite holiday DIY projects was the mug wraps I created.  It was so simple to make these chic cup coozies with just some plush tartan plaid ribbon and velcro.

I wanted to update the look this year to fit my holiday decor so a new version of my Holiday Mug Wraps was in order.

 2015 Holiday Mug Wraps-2

My 2015 Mug Wraps were made with printed burlap ribbon (from Hobby Lobby)  and instead of velcro, I attached red eyelets to the edges and used red suede cording to lace up the ends of the wrap.

Just like last year, these wraps are easy to remove when I don’t want to use them or want to change the look.

I love this years version of my mug wraps just as much as last years and from the looks of things, mug wraps are going to be a yearly project for me.

Only 3 more days until Christmas, are you doing any last minute holiday crafting?

Since I love to wrap gifts, I thought it would be fun to share my easy formula for creating stylishly wrapped gifts.  Even though it’s a pretty simple formula involving paper, ribbon, tags and a fun accent, it’s what I do with these items that turns my wrapping into an art.

Gift Wrap Inspiration: Flowers and Denim

IMG_0373

Hello friends and Happy Monday!  Sorry for the last blog post today.  I had a morning meeting and then had to get a few things checked off the to-do list so I’m late getting this post out.  Anyway as the saying goes, ‘better late than never” so here I am with some gift wrap inspiration for you.

IMG_0371

Whenever I’m looking for a new idea to inspire a gift wrap project, I usually don’t have to look far.  The inspiration for this wrapping came from some flowers I spotted while on an evening walk recently and a denim shirt I had in my closet. This package is headed to a girlfriend and I just know she’s going to love the wrap.

IMG_0363

The box I used for this package is a two-piece box with separate lid and I wrapped each piece in the beautiful floral paper I picked up in the dollar ($1.50) section at #Michaels.  Then I added a denim heart, also from Michaels and adhered it with tape around the edges so it could serve as a pocket.

{p.s.  my local Michaels just restocked the dollar area and there are lots of really cute fall and Christmas items you should check out
{p.s.s.  the denim hearts are on clearance at 80% off and they have denim pockets too}

The finishing touches are a pink gift tag with hand lettering and a silk bow and flower that are clipped onto the edge of the heart using a small clothespin.

Wrapping gifts is always fun but when you can create a beautiful box using just a few items and in less than 10 minutes it’s even better.

I hope you give this gift wrap idea a try.  If you can’t find denim pieces at your craft store, you can always cut up old clothing that is slated for the thrift store.

Happy wrapping!

Gift Wrap Inspiration: A New Way to Add Ribbon

It all started with a trip to The Container Store to pick up some shipping boxes…

Everytime I go into The Container Store I have something specific I’m planning to buy.  But that always changes once I’m inside the doors.  I get sucked in by all the beautiful containers, jars, boxes and wrapping, and my imagination starts to go wild.  It never fails that I come home with a few items that weren’t on the shopping list.
