During the workshop you’ll learn all my tips and tricks for wrapping gifts with style & flair. From adding embellishments to using uncommon wrapping supplies, I’ll teach you everything you need to know to make your holiday gift wrap extra special. And we’ll also be making beautiful ribbon bows that you can take home and use on a special package.

My 2018 Christmas Theme | Chinoiserie Inspired

Happy, Happy Friday! Today’s blog post is one of my favorites to share each year. It’s my annual Christmas theme post where I show you my decorating plans for the holidays. If you’re a new follower, let me fill you in on my obsession with Christmas decorating.

Ever since I was little, I’ve loved decorating Christmas trees, hanging stockings and wrapping gifts. I remember making ornaments with my dad and sitting in front of the silver tinsel tree in awe. Once I graduated from college and got my first apartment, I couldn’t wait to put up my own tree. And when I got married I started creating a theme for my decor and 27 years later, the tradition continues.

Last year I shared the details on exactly how I develop my holiday decorating theme. And if you missed it, you can see how I decorated using my favorite colors in 2017 and how my 2016 Christmas theme was inspired by wrapping paper.

This year my holiday theme is inspired by my love for blue and white and my collection of ginger jars. I’m calling my theme…

DIY No Carve Halloween Ribbon Pumpkins

Hi friends. The last week and a half have been really busy and I haven’t been able to blog like I planned. The craziness has slowed down a bit so I’m finally getting a chance to pop in and share a fun Halloween craft project with you.

A few weeks ago I told you that I’m part of the design team for The Ribbon Roll, one of the leading ribbon companies in the US. Each quarter I’ll be creating projects for them using their amazing ribbons. Since Halloween is just around the corner, I decided to craft some easy ribbon pumpkins. This project took about 25 minutes to complete so if you love a quick DIY, this ones for you.

Even though I used black and orange ribbon, you could use any color combo to work with your fall or Halloween decor.

Supply List:

Assorted Halloween themed ribbons in widths ranging from 5/8″ to 1 1/2″ w. Click here for a list of the ribbons I used for this project.

Craft pumpkins in different sizes–I purchased mine at Michaels

Paper Mache Witches Hat

Black Acrylic Craft Paint ( and a paint brush of course)

Ad Tech Removeable Glue Tape {affiliate link}

Starting with my largest pumpkin, I cut 18 pieces of ribbon at different lengths with the longest piece about 1 1/2″ from the bottom of the pumpkin. I cut 16 pieces of ribbon for the smaller pumpkins and layered some of the ribbon pieces for added dimension. Then I attached the ribbon to each pumpkin, at the base of the stem.

To add a little something extra, I made small bows and attached them to the stems of the smaller pumpkins. And for the larger pumpkin, I painted the witches hat black and added ribbon around the brim.

These cute pumpkins are perfect to accessorize a console table or use as a centerpiece on your dining table.

This cute black and white table runner was on $5.99 from Ikea. Buy two and sew them together if you need a longer length.

Weekend Wrap-Up | Fall Favorites & What I Bought

Happy Saturday! I woke up this morning, stepped outside and got a whiff of fall. It was cool outside and I noticed that the leaves are slowly starting to change on the trees. Unfortunately the cool temps won’t last because its supposed to be in the 90’s today. With temps like that I’m planning to stay close to home this weekend, get through my magazine stack and do a little work. Wherever you are, I hope your weekend is great.

Flavors Of Fall | Virtual Progressive Dinner Blog Hop

There are a few more days until we can officially ring in the fall season, but I’m joining some blog friends to jumpstart the season with a fall blog hop. Now that you’ve indulged in a cocktail (or two) and enjoyed a delicious appetizer, it’s time to sit down at the table for the main course. I was in charge of creating a fall inspired tablescape and I’m pretty jazzed with how it turned out.

The inspiration and focal point of my fall table was this beautiful pumpkin and ribbon centerpiece that I created. I gathered some faux pumpkins, made ribbon pics using ribbon from The Ribbon Roll and assembled all the elements on a wood tray.

Using the colors in my centerpiece as inspiration, I built the place settings around brown and ivory. I used my brown and white English transferware plates and placed them on top of brown faux crocodile chargers The linen colored leaf placemats were a great find at Bed Bath Beyond–just .85 cents ea. The striped napkins are from HomeGoods.

Instead of place cards at each placesetting, I printed out the menu, placed it to a small clip board and set it on top of each plate. It’s an easy and inexpensive way to add an unexpected touch to the table. The natural color of the clipboards worked great with my decor but you could paint or decorate them to fit any party theme.

DINNER PARTY TIPS:

Create a color theme for your party decor so all the elements work together.

Keep the centerpiece low so your guests can see and converse across the table with ease.

Incorporate unscented candles into your table decor for ambience. I mean everyone looks great by candlelight, right!

Layers are key to a beautiful table so add them into your place setting, centerpiece and table linens.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match metal finishes when you’re setting a table. I used silver flatware alongside brass candleholders. The two tones work great with the colors in my centerpiece and add visual contrast to the arrangement.

Aren’t these fringe napkins rings just adorable? They were so easy to make and added a fun touch to my table. I’ll be sharing how to make these on the blog tomorrow.

I had lots fun creating this tablescape and even though fall might not be here just yet, I’m ready to entertain!

My Latest Thrifting Finds | New Dinnerware

Well friends, I think my latest thrifting finds make it official…I’m a dinnerware collector. I can’t help myself but I love buying beautiful china that I can mix and match with other pieces and patterns I own.

A couple of weekends ago, I popped into one of my favorite thrifting spots and found two new collections. The first was this set of eight floral salad plates. The plates have a gold rim and the most beautiful floral pattern around the edge. My original thought was to pair these with black and white plates but once I got home I realized they also look great with other plates I own.

The black and white combo will be fun for late spring and summer, and I can envision the floral plates with orange Fiestaware for a fall tablescape.

My second find was a set of 5 Lou Rota double handle tea cups. I was sad that there were only 5 so now I’m on the hunt for a 6th cup. Let me know if you spot them anywhere.

When I first laid eyes on these cups, I thought they were soup bowls. Once I got home and did a little research I found out that they are actually tea cups. I also learned about the designer, Lou Rota. Lou is a London-based artist with a background in Entomology. Many of her designs feature whimsical birds, bugs and flowers like this flamingo design which is part of her Nature Table collection. I just love the traditional but artistic design and of course the blue, white and red color combo. FYI…the cups are no longer available, but you can still buy the plates at Anthropologie.

tip: if you love the plates, you’ll want to snap them up from Anthro. Site like Replacements.com and Ebay are selling them for double and triple the price.

I’m loving my new finds and now the only question is where and I going to store these beauties. I’m running out of space!

Backyard Bash | Summer Soiree Blog Hop

Summer is here and that can only mean one thing…it’s time to do some outdoor entertaining! Today I’m joining 5 of my blogging buddies for a Summer Soiree Backyard Bask and you’re invited to the party. We had a blast with the Spring Soiree virtual progressive dinner, we decided a summer blog hop was in order.

Entertaining during the summer can be so much fun and a progressive dinner makes it even better because the meal prep is spread across all the party hosts. As you party hop, not only do you get to enjoy everyone’s decor but you also enjoy a different menu at each house. Nothing like delicious food + stylish decor to create the perfect party atmosphere.

The menu below shows the courses and the hosts for our Summer Soiree Backyard Bash so sit back as we get this party started.

Summer Soiree Virtual Progressive Dinner Party

The first stop for our progressive dinner kicks off with cocktails at my house. When it comes to summer cocktails, I enjoy a drink that is light, refreshing and a little fruity. Today I’m serving up a Strawberry Lemon Mojito which checks all the boxes.

So that everyone can mix and mingle in the comfort of air conditioning, I set up my cocktail bar indoors. I created a little “make and shake station” on my sideboard and used my tiered bar table to hold my blue & white ice bucket, other beverage options and glassware.

To play off the color and pattern used in the invitation, I dressed my sideboard with a blue plaid runner and yellow decor and flowers as an accent color. I used mostly white serving pieces for a crisp pop of color and a few wicker elements to create that summer vibe.

Now that I have my bar set, I want to share a few tips to help you with your party next party…

Cocktail Party Tips:

Use the colors and theme of the party invitation as inspiration for your decor.
Break traditional cocktail rules and Mix and match your glassware to give your party an eclectic feel.
Include a few nibbles on the bar and around the room so guests have something to snack on and to ensure no one is drinking on an empty stomach.
Use decorative bowls to hold drink garnish and add style to your bar.
Frame the drink recipe so guests know what ingredients are in the signature cocktail.
Have non-alcoholic beverages available for those guests that don’t drink alcohol.
