On The Bookshelf: New Design & Entertaining Books

New Design & Entertaining Books by ConfettiStyle

One of my favorite things to do while at the Atlanta Market is shop for design and entertaining books. I could spend hours in the showroom flipping through newly released or soon-to-be released titles.  I go in to the showroom  thinking I’ll order one or two new books and always end up ordering a few more:) Here are some of the new books I’m adding to my bookshelf and a few others I think you’ll love.

Happy reading friends!

New Design & Entertaining Books by ConfettiStyle

The goal is to guide you in creating a beautiful home environment that works for you and your family.

The Patterned Interior  (release date Sept, 2018)–A compilation of spaces designed by interior designer Greg Natale over the course of his career.  Considered a master of pattern mixing, you’ll learn the importance of incorporating patterns into your decor to create both stylish and personalized spaces.

If you love decorating with vintage, antique and thrifted pieces, you’ll love Vintage Living.  With over 40 years of thrifting and collecting, the author shares a collection of historic homes decorated with an array of treasures. The book is a full-service guide for treasure hunting and how to effortlessly incorporate your finds into your decor.

Personal Space (released in Oct of last year) is a collection of West Coast homes decorated by award-winning designer Trip Haenisch. Known for his creativity and creating luxurious yet livable spaces, the homes featured include those of many well-known celebrities.

In Love Affair With Houses  (release day April 16th), designer Bunny William shares the design of 15 homes she has decorated and loved.   Each home profile highlights the style of the space and what drew Bunny to the project.  You’ll also learn her personal secrets for decorating and creating different design schemes.

The book I’m most excited about is Four Seasons Of Entertaining by Shayla Copas (release date April 28th).  I’ve been following Shayla on IG for a while and love her style.  The book shares party and entertaining inspiration for a variety of celebrations through 250 beautifully styled photos.  This book is a must if you love to entertain.

Inspiration Notebook | July 2017–Summertime

Hi friends. I hope everyone had a fantastic 4th and enjoyed the long weekend. I sure did!   You may have noticed I skipped out on blogging last week?  Sorry to leave you hanging but I’m juggling a lot of balls right now  and something had to take a back seat.  This week is going to be busy too but I’m working to get back to a regular blogging schedule.

The Atlanta Gift and Home Furnishings Show starts on Tuesday and so I’ll have lots to share about new furniture and decor in the coming weeks.  On Thursday I’ll be sharing a fun and easy DIY project, perfect for a summer hostess gift.   And my summer tablescape {sneak peek below} will be live tomorrow as part of the Summertime Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by Chloe of Celebrate & Decorate.

Today I’ve got the latest installment of my Inspiration Notebook where I’m sharing the things I love most about summer.  I hope you enjoy and are inspired!

My Round Top Antiques Market Shopping List

Round Top Antiques Market Shopping List by ConfettiStyle

If all goes according to plan I’ll be shopping up at storm at the Round Top Antiques Market in just a few days.

I attended Round Top for the first time last year.  Even though I had an idea of what I hoped to find, the magnitude of the show (and the cold weather) stopped me from doing my best shopping.  This year it’s going to be a different story.  The weather is going to be warm, I’ve been brushing up on my vintage shopping skills and I’ve got a LIST!

Over the years I’ve found that shopping with a list when I go to a flea market or antique store keeps me focused and yields better results. So when I hit Round Top this year not only will I be shopping with a written list but I’ll also have photos to serve as inspiration.  Want a peek at what’s on my shopping list…check it out below.

Since I love all things chinoiserie, I’ll be on the hunt for anything in that genre. I’m hoping to luck upon some Staffordshire dogs in white both for me and my Etsy shop.

I’ll also be looking for vintage fashion books.  I may have mentioned this before but I have a degree in fashion merchandising and spent most of my corporate career as a buyer and merchandising executive.  My love for fashion runs deep!

Right up there with my love of fashion is my love of vintage jewelry.  I love finding pieces that I can use to make my own custom jewelry and anything tassel and bejeweled is what I’m looking for.

One of the things I sell a lot of in my Etsy shop is vintage toast racks.  I show them as a desk accessory holding stationery and notecards which is such a fun way to use these days.  I found a couple last year and Round Top and hope to find some unique pieces this market.

One of things on my personal shopping list is vintage dinnerware.  Even though I can find pieces locally, I hoping to find a few unique designs to add to my collection.

Two items that I think I might not have luck finding are vintage wallpaper rolls and Asian art brushes.  I don’t often see these items when out shopping but I’m hoping that Round Top will deliver.

Also on the chinoiserie list is a monkey bowl and a pair of bamboo stools.  I lucked upon a blue and white monkey last year and posted a photo on Instagram.  One of my followers wanted to purchase it so I sold it to her.  Now I’m on the hunt for another one which I will be keeping.

Bamboo stools….wish me luck!

So there you have it, a look at my Round Top shopping list.  And in case you were wondering, I’ll have my eyes open for other items as well like ironstone, blue and white pottery and brass pieces.

You can check out last years trip to Round Top here.

p.s.  In route to Round Top we’ll be stopping in Jackson, Mississippi so if there are any great antique stores or flea markets in that area leave me a comment and let me know.

Happy Monday & my latest vintage finds!

Hey there friends.  I hope the day started off great for you.  Between Day Light Savings Time and insomnia, I woke up feeling gloomy.  After getting dressed, I did some mediation followed by a cup of tea and those two things helped me refocus and re-energize.

I’ve meditated on and off over the years but after getting away from it I’m trying hard to make it a daily practice.  It really does make a difference in how I manage my day and most importantly how I feel. If you’ve never tried mediation, here’s a great article that outlines 8 Way Meditation Can Improve Your Life.

Now on to the fun stuff…

Over the weekend I did sneak in some time to hit up one of my favorite antique stores.  I haven’t had time to go antique shopping lately so I took my time walking the aisles of the store.   Here are a few things I found.

The last few months, I’ve  been selling lots of Ironstone in my Etsy shop so I’m on the hunt for some new pieces.  This sugar jar was a great find and I love the design.

I already own one of these mini blue and white garden stools so this one will go in my shop.  It would look great on bookshelf as a bookend.

The pattern on this creamer grabbed my attention and I love the design of the handle.

Vintage Blue and White Creamer

This large blue and white floral pitcher was just sitting in the corner waiting for me.  Sell or not to sell…that is the question?

I purchased a similar elephant the last time I was in Oklahoma for my Etsy shop so I didn’t hesitate when I saw this one.  I’m going to keep it and use it as a perch to hold a plant or stack of books.

Did anyone else go thrifting over the weekend and if so, what did you find?

Favorites Of The Week {a random mix of great stuff}

Whew! What a week it has been.  I’ve been running in 50 different directions sourcing products, working on projects and trying to wrangle the paperwork on my desk.

I wish I could say this was going to be a low-key weekend but it’s not.  I’m spending all day tomorrow in meeting with the non-profit agency I work with then I’m doing some major house cleaning.  We do have a fun outing planned for Sunday morning but the rest of the day will be spent working and preparing for the busy week ahead.  Oh, I am planning to shut things down so I can watch the Oscars!

I hope you can find some downtime to enjoy a few of my favorites from the week.

FAVORITE PRODUCTS:

These pastel teaspoons are perfect for spring.

Loving this market tote!  It’s on sale and I also spotted a similar design in stores on clearance for $17.99.

If you’re looking for a stylish rug in a neutral color, check out the Farrah rug.

Loving this emerald green soap dispenser from H and M Home. This glass cup and this glass jar are also part of the collection.

For all you fashionistas out there, there’s a postage stamp made just for you!

Speaking of fashion, I’m totally in smitten with the pom pom sneaker trim.  These are the cheapest I’ve seen so far but this brand does not fit my foot. I’m thinking a DIY might be in order. You can buy shoe clips here and a pom pom making tool here. {affiliate links}

Enjoy your weekend!

Inspiration Notebook: February 2017 (the year is blooming)

INSPIRATION NOTEBOOK–FEBRUARY 2017

Did everyone have a great weekend?  I was a busy bee but did make time to watch the Super Bowl last night.  That game just about killed me.  Talk about suspense and sitting on the edge of your seat.  Of course I was pulling for Atlanta to win and hate that it came down to the last seconds of the game, but they gave it a good fight.  I’m sure the players woke up this morning sad but motivated because there’s nothing like a defeat that will motivate you to push harder to reach your goals.

Speaking of motivation, todays post is all about what’s inspiring and motivating me this month. It’s a little of this and a little of that but I’m excited to make the most of everyday and reach for the stars.
