Gift Wrap Inspiration: Valentine’s Day Hearts & Arrows

Valentine's Day Gift Wrap.001

If I had the time I would find an excuse to wrap gifts everyday.  I just love a beautifully wrapped gift and always want my gift wrapping to be part of the gift giving experience.

With Valentine’s Day just a few days away, I had the perfect opportunity to get creative and wrap gifts for the favorite people in my life.  I decided to keep things simple and use embellishments to add the wow factor to my gifts.

My hoard of wrapping paper included the perfect designs for Valentine gift giving and a few minutes of crafting resulted in some easy and fun gift toppers.

The details are not the details, they make the design.

Valentines Gift wrap9The idea for the first topper came to me a couple of weeks ago when I picked up a bag of felt sticker hearts at Michaels.  I used them to create these simple heart arrows by first wrapping short wood skewers with pink washi tape and then attaching hearts to each end of the skewer.  I layered a smaller heart over the larger one to give the arrows dimension.

Using more felt hearts, I wrapped the next gift in pink curling ribbon, creating several layers of curls.  I attached small felt hearts to the ends of the ribbon to play off the gold hearts on the paper and create a whimsical bow-like accent.

You might remember that during Christmas I turned some red and white coasters that I picked up on clearance at Crate and Barrel into ornaments.  I purchased the coasters back in 2014 and in addition to words like Jolly, Noel and Fa La La, I also bought several sets with words like Love and Cheers.  I used one of the LOVE coasters as a package topper by simply punching a hole on two sides of the coaster and threading red and white twine though the holes. The twine is tied in a small bow on the underside of the box.

And this gift is for the chocolate lover in my life (my hubby).  I was at Fresh Market one day and spotted chocolate hearts on a stick (aka, a heart lollipop) and knew  they would make a great gift wrap embellishment.  After wrapping the box in the cutest arrow paper I ever did see, I attached large felt hearts to the end of the candy stick and then tied the chocolate heart into the bow.    I also added a couple of felt hearts to the top of the wrapper because it needed a little extra something. Valentines Giftwrap6

If someone asked me what my signature detail is when it comes to gift wrapping I’d definitely say package embellishments.

If you’re wrapping gifts for Valentine’s Day, remember that a simple embellishment will make you gift extra special.
