Oh Christmas Tree | Holiday Home Tour 2019

2019 ConfettiStyle Holiday Home Tour

Hi there friends!  In case you’ve been wondering, I’m still alive.  This year has been all kinds of crazy at our house so my blog posts have been sporadic at best.  However, I’m determined to end the year on a high note and am finally sharing my holiday decor with you.

To kick things off, today I’m sharing my Christmas tree decor and tomorrow I’ll be back to share my Christmas tablescape.  The holiday season is my favorite time of the year so I’m thrilled I was able to pull things together and get my home decorated. Yea for taking life one day at a time and getting things done!

If you’ve followed me during the last few holiday seasons, you know that I typically host a holiday blog hop called The Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour.  The tour has been going strong for 5 years but given all the shenanigans life has thrown my way, I decided not to host the tour this year.  Don’t fret, I’m planning to host the tour again in 2020 to bring you lost of holiday decor and magic.

So…with only 7 days until Santa arrives, I’m here to share my holiday home! Enjoy & Merry Christmas!

Before we jump into all the pretty pictures, I want to remind you of the holiday inspiration board I created early this year.  Every year I develop an inspiration board to outline the vision I have for my decor.   This year I wanted to decorate with my favorite color combo, red and pink along with a accents of burgundy.  Here’s a look at the inspiration board I created…

And here’s my Christmas tree brought to life…

It’s Beginning To Look A lot Like Christmas!

I kept my tree decor pretty simple this year and used only ornaments and ribbon to decorate it. We ended up buying a new tree this year that had 800 lights on it but I added three strands of twinkle lights for even more sparkle.  Christmas is just not Christmas without twinkle lights!

Most of the ornaments are ball shaped with a few paper teardrop and stars added for variety.  I hung red and pink ornaments in different sizes, finishes and textures which gave our tree lots of dimension.  Plus I sprinkled a few white ornaments around the tree as a pop against all the saturated color.

When it comes to decorating a Christmas tree, ribbon is a must in my book.  I used two different styles or ribbon, a 4″ wide burgundy satin and a narrower red lace.  The  wide ribbon is tucked throughout the tree and I cut the  lace ribbon into pieces and let it hang in spirals.

Here’s a detail shot of my tree without the lights on.  You can really see the different shades of red and pink ornaments and ribbon details in this photo.

Simple & Elegant Gift Wrap

Just like the inspiration photo, I went pretty plain and simple with my gift wrap.  If you know anything about me, you know that simple gift wrap is a stretch for me. I love to add embellishments and mix and match paper patterns but I absolutely love the simplicity of my boxes this year. fyi–If you want to check out more of my gift wrapping, check out my ConfettiStyle Gift Wrap Pinterest board

All of my boxes are wrapped in a solid red paper I found at HomeGoods.  It wasn’t until I opened the first roll of paper that I realized it had a shimmery finish that sparkles.  I tied a classic bow around each box using satin ribbon in my color palette and a couple of boxes got dressed up with handmade Starburst Ribbon Ornaments.  You can find the tutorial here.

Fireplace Decor

Keeping on the ‘less is more train’,  I swaged garland around the fireplace and curled red ribbon along the front of it.  I placed a cluster of silk flowers and satin bows at the center point to accent the garland.

The finishing touch were the red and white stocking that I hung off to one side. And of course my wood reindeer all dressed up for the season.
