Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Valentine's Day Gift Guide.002.jpeg.002

Most of the time when I feature a gift guide, especially a Valentine’s Day Gift Guide, I feature gifts for her and gifts for him.  This time around I’m changing things up and doing a gift guide that features gifts for anyone you love, regardless of their gender.

I thought it was going to be challenging to find gifts to fit this feature but once I started checking out my favorite sites I came up with some pretty awesome gift ideas, several of which I snapped up myself.

Happy shopping!

Valentine's Day Gift Guide.001

A little something sweet is always a good thing for Valentine’s Day and this Assorted Cookie Set is just about as sweet as you can get.  And I love that they come in their own gift box so all the work is done for you.
If there’s a music lover in your life I highly recommend the Soundlink Mini II Bluetooth Speaker.  I was gifted one of these for Christmas and it’s amazing.  The sound quality is fantastic and I love that you can move it from room to room without the hassle of cords and plugs.
If a movie night at home is your favorite way to celebrate Valentine’s Day then these Popcorn Bowls will add as special touch to the evening.  This is another item we own and use all the time.  It just makes eating popcorn more fun.
Because everyday should be a celebration, I think these Acrylic Stemless Champagne Flutes (monogrammed of course) are a perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  And when the occasion doesn’t call for champagne, I’d use these glasses for beer or mixed drinks.
This chic Wooden Tape Measure is a fun piece to drop in a handbag or stash in the glove compartment of the car.
I love how unique this Bookbinder’s Wood Journal is and think it’s a great gift to take to the office, keep at home or use on the go to jot down notes and ideas.  Think about pairing this with a nice writing pen for the perfect gift set.
Inspire the ones you love with this awesome book, It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be.  This little gem of a book is filled with bits of wisdom and inspirational quotes and makes a great gift for teenagers as well as adults.  While you’re at it, pick up a copy for yourself too!
We all want our loved ones to stay healthy so give them a Fit Bit Charge to make tracking their activity easy and fun. I love mine and it keeps me motivated to get up from the desk and get my 10,000 steps in.
This Moscow Mule Mug is a more stylish version of the traditional mug and is perfect for that morning cup of coffee, afternoon cup of tea or hot cocoa in the evening.  This is another buy one for them, buy one for you gifts.

Valentine's Day Gift Guide.003

Spoil someone with the adorable Fish Candy Bowl filled with their favorite candy treat.
With lots of cold days ahead, I think a Luxury Plush Robe is the perfect way to say ‘I Love You’ for Valentine’s Day.  And, you can’t beat the sale price.
I’m all about a fondue party and with this Cast Iron Fondue Set you can have a party every night.  This is definitely something kids and adults will love.
I’m a soap and lotion fanatic and this Belgian Linen Soap and Lotion Duo is one of the best around. And it’s on sale.
If I didn’t already own a great water bottle, I’d definitely have either one of these S’well Hydration Bottles on my gift list. The shimmer bottle comes in great colors so you won’t lose track of it and the teak wood  and noir zebra bottles are just plain cool.
Yet another way to pamper someone on Valentine’s Day…Hand Salve Gift Set in 4 fabulous scents.

I hope you enjoyed this Valentine’s Day Gift Guide and find something special for the one’s you love.

I’ll have some fun Valentine’s gift wrap ideas for your next week so stay tuned.

Gifting 101: Just Because Gifts and DIY Gift Wrapping

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a terrific 4th of July.  The weather here in the south was beautiful with very low humidity and somewhat mild temps.  I’m glad I we had a long weekend because this week is going to be jammed pack.  I’m spending Monday completing a few projects before I head off to the Atlanta Gift Mart for the gift and furniture show.  Then I’m spending the end of the week at the Haven Conference and can’t wait.  I so excited to be attending this conference for the first time and to meet new friends and bloggers.

Although my week is going to be crazy I’ve got a full week of blog post scheduled for you.  A little design, a bit of fashion and some crafting–all the things I love.  Today I’ve got some fun and creative gift ideas for you. Enjoy!

Black and White Gift Wrap by ConfettiStyle8

For me, giving gifts doesn’t just have to happen on a birthday, at Christmas or on a special occasion.  I love to give gifts to friends and family, Just Because.

A Just Because Gift can be something small or something a friend may have mentioned that they would love to have.

A Just Because Gift can be something as simple as a journal where dreams can be captured, a piece of my hand-made jewelry or maybe  fun party decor for a friend that likes to entertain.  Just Because!

Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour–The Finale!

Merry and Bright FINAL

Well friends, it’s sad to see the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour come to an end.  Over the last two weeks me and the 8 other bloggers that are a part of the tour have shared our Christmas trees, front doors, holiday tablescapes and much more.  I hope you’ve been inspired  by all the holiday merriment.

If you’re coming over from OMG Lifestyle Blog, welcome.  It’s been so fun to see Elaine’s beautiful holiday decor over the last three weeks.I know you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.

With just 9 days left before Christmas, I can officially say I’m finished decorating!  Today I’m sharing the final holiday touches I added around the house (warning: lots of photos ahead).

BEDROOM DECOR

Christmas Bedroom 2015

One of my favorite rooms to decorate at Christmas is the bedroom.  I love lying in bed at night surrounded by holiday cheer.

I hung a wreath on the headboard and draped the mirrors over the nightstand with holly leaf garland.

Christmas Decor 2015-14

I kept the black and white pillows I had on the bed all summer and added the fur-trimmed tartan pillow from HomeGoods.

One set of standard pillowcases was changed out to red.

Christmas Decor 2015-11

The black and white dot ottoman at the foot of the bed is dressed up with red and green pillows and a red throw.

Christmas Decor 2015-6

I placed the lighted marquee JOY signed I made last year at a Home Depot Do-it-Herself workshop on top of the armoire and draped some garland around it.

The JOY sign is on a timer and I go to sleep each night with the soft glow of the lights.

Christmas Decor 2015-12

I wanted to address garland to my dress form last year but never got around to it.  This year I made it happen.

Instead of fresh greenery, I used artificial greenery sprays and hung them from a belt that is wrapped at the waist.

Christmas Decor 2015-7

Christmas Decor 2015-9

LITTLE TOUCHES IN THE KITCHEN

Nothing major in the kitchen except this corner vignette with a mix of vintage, new and handcrafted items.

Christmas Decor 2015-3

MY WORKSPACE

I replaced the inspiration board that normally hangs over my desk with this chalkboard and added a small Christmas tree in a brass urn next to the lamp.

Christmas Decor 2015-22

MY HOLIDAY GIFT WRAP

After making my mobile giftwrap crate, I got busy wrapping gifts.

In addition to wrapping gifts with paper, I placed some gifts in decorative boxes I picked up at Target and Container Store.  The solid colored boxes mixed great with my wrapping paper designs so I’ve got a fun mix of packages under the tree.

SPECIAL TOUCHES

I framed my childhood stocking after seeing client do this with hers and hung it on my bedroom door.

Christmas Decor 2015-5

I found an oversized brass scales of justice at a thrift store and placed it on the table near the tree.  I set small gifts inside the tray.

The fur-trimmed stockings I made last year are hung and ready to be filled with goodies.

After Christmas Sales: FIVE Things You Should Shop For

What To Shop For During After Christmas Sales by ConfettiStyle

On the day after Christmas I’m usually up and out the door headed to after-Christmas sales.  It’s actually one of the things I look forward to  after the hustle and bustle of the days leading up to Christmas.

In addition to holiday decor being discounted, stores will also have big discounts on winter clothing and there will be lots of everyday items on clearance too.  The week after Christmas is really a great time to shop if you love a deal and want to get a jump-start on next Christmas.

In today’s post, I’ve outlined the FIVE items that should be at the top of your shopping list in the days after Christmas.

Wrapping Paper

What To Shop For During After Christmas Sales by ConfettiStyle

After-Christmas is the best time to buy wrapping paper, gift bags and decorative boxes. It’s also a good time to replenish gift tags, tape and other gift wrap supplies. Along with holiday themed wrapping paper, be on the look out for deals on generic gift wrap designs that you can use throughout the year.  A red and pink striped paper can be used for Valentine’s Day and solid colors can be use for any gift occasion.

I’ll be stopping by Hobby Lobby to stock up on tissue paper and gift card boxes and will also be looking for holiday embellishments I can use to wrap gifts.  This gold and white striped wrapping paper is a great deal and usable year round.

My Favorite Stores To Shop For Wrapping Paper:

HomeGoods // Container Store // Target // Ikea

***

Holiday Tabletop

What To Shop For During After Christmas Sales by ConfettiStyle

For those of you that love to entertain, after-Christmas sales are the perfect time to buy holiday dinnerware and table linens.  Shop early for the best choice but be open to mixing and matching tabletop patterns if you can’t find enough pieces in a design you love.  An eclectic holiday table can be really fun to pull together.

It’s also a great time to shop for holiday paper goods that you can use for casual parties. Create and Barrel is one of my favorite stores to shop for tabletop items.  I just bought these adorable holiday cocktails napkins which will also make a great hostess gift.

tip: did you know you can make a Christmas pillow from a holiday themed placemat?  My friend Meg has a great tutorial that shows you how easy it is to make.  Keep this tip in mind when your shopping for discounted linens.

My Favorite Stores To Shop For Tabletop Items:

HomeGoods and Marshalls // Williams Sonoma // Pier 1 // Pottery Barn

***

Holiday Gift Baskets {and gift sets}

What To Shop For During After Christmas Sales by ConfettiStyle

Gift baskets might not be the first thing you think about when you’re shopping after Christmas but they should be.  Instead of using the basket as it is, pull the items out and create a new basket or use the items as individual gifts.

I like to buy beauty, food or entertaining themed baskets because many of the items and the container are aren’t season specific and can be used for other gift occasions.

tip:  when you’re shopping, think about birthdays, weddings and other events you have coming up during the new year.  You just might find the perfect components for a great gift.

My Favorite Stores To Shop For Gift Baskets:

World Market // HomeGoods // Target // Bath & Body Works // Bed Bath Beyond

***

Candles

What To Shop For During After Christmas Sales by ConfettiStyle

Shop after Christmas sales for winter scents like pine or cinnamon.  These fragrances are classified as Christmas but they are wonderful to burn throughout the cold winter months.  You can also buy a few candles to stash in your gift closet for gift-giving next year.

tip:  many candles on the market have removable paper labels so the look of the jar becomes universal.  Remove the label and create your own decorative wrap to fit any gift occasion.

My Favorite Stores To Shop For Candles:

Bath & Body Works // Local Boutiques //  TJ Maxx and HomeGoods // William Sonoma

***

Winter Accessories

What To Shop For During After Christmas Sales by ConfettiStyle

Retailers will be marking down cold-weather accessories to make room for warm-weather fashions that will begin hitting stores in just a few weeks.  Now is a great time to buy gloves, knit hats and scarves and find amazing deals on cashmere accessories.

The Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sales is going on thru January 2nd and there are some fabulous items on sale.  I just ordered the leopard print shawl above (under $20) and this cute knit hat with fur Pom Pom (under $12).

tip: before you gift your bargain accessories next year, take them to a monogram shop to have them personalized with a monogram.  A simple monogram will give your clearance find a designer look.

My Favorite Stores To Shop For Winter Accessories:

Nordstroms // Macy’s // Mark & Graham // Dillards
