Spring Inspiration–Decorating Ideas and Tips

Spring Flowers
I can’t believe the weather we’ve had the last couple of days here in Atlanta.  Spring is definitely in the air and I’m super excited for its arrival.  The other day I was driving and noticed that a few cherry trees had started to bloom and that daffodils are popping up everywhere.  All these signs of spring have me thinking about decorating for the season which is not typically something I do a lot of.  This year though, I want to add a few more spring touches to my decor and rounded up a few ideas and inspiration that just might inspire you too.

When we lived in Seattle there were tulip fields about 60 miles outside the city.  Every year we’d take a drive to look at the beautiful rows of tulips and buy bundles and bundles of tulips for $5.00 ea. The tulip festival took place around my birthday in April so tulips hold a special place in my heart.

SPRING INSPIRATION

I purchased my first bundle of tulips last week and plan to buy more throughout the season.  I’m inspired by the rustic chic centerpiece and I’m thinking of creating something similar for my dining table.  What makes this look so special is the unique container and a single flower color which gives the arrangement a sophisticated feel.

With such a beautiful flower arrangement, I can’t help be think about creating a beautiful spring table setting to go along with that.  I love these plates and am pondering the idea of DIYing them.

Spring Place Setting

I’m definitely planning on hanging a flower basket on my front door and love the look of these purple flowers.

An easy way to update any room in your home is with spring pillows.  I’m pulling mine out of storage and I’m on the hunt for a few new patterns to add to the mix.

I ‘ve got several cloches and I’m planning on giving them some spring love this year.  I love the simplicity of these flowers under glass but also like the idea of something a bit more

EASY WAYS TO ADD A TOUCH OF SPRING TO YOUR DECOR:

Switch out your heavy, cold-weather throw blankets for lighter weights and lighter colors.

Accessorize with bright colors tabletop books which will add a pop of color to your decor (look under the paper cover to reveal the color of the book).

Burn spring scented candles.  This is one of my favorite spring candles.

Add more flowers and plants into your decor.  I love the light, wispy look of maiden hair ferns for spring.

Move things around.  Try replacing a piece of artwork with a mirror to enhance the  natural light that comes into your home or switch out lamps from one room to another.  A new perspective always feels good.

♦  Change your bed linens.  A simple switch of bed linens to something with color and pattern can give your bedroom and entirely new look for spring.

Lighten the load.  Spring is a great time to purge and clear any clutter you have around your house.  Clean out closets, drawers and give your home a lighter look and feel.
