The India Hicks Collection {Island Style}

I have long admired India Hicks model, style maven and lifestyle designer.

India first came on my radar with her first book entitled Island Life: Inspirational Interiors which she wrote with her father David Hicks, the famed English interior decorator and designer.

Since that time India has developed a lifestyle brand that has included home decor, bath & body products, accessories and jewelry.  After years of developing products in partnership with other companies, India’s newest business endeavor is a collection of products sold through networks of entrepreneurial women. In India’s words…

“the exclusive collections of well-crafted gifts, beauty and accessories are sold through networks of entrepreneurial women, creating a more meaningful shopping experience”.

Inspired by her British heritage and island life, each product is beautifully crafted with a classic design esthetic that will stand the test of time.

A Cute Clutch Find From An Unexpected Place

Around Christmas I shared the Junk Gypsy Bohemian Geo Cuff Sheet Set that I received from Pottery Barn Teen.  But what I didn’t tell you was this wasn’t the only thing I received from PB.  They also sent me this adorable suede clutch.

Junk Gypsy Wanderer Fringe Pouch from Pottery Barn Teen

The Wanderer Fringe Pouch is also part of the Junky Gypsy collection designed by sisters Amie and Jolie Sikes, affectionately known as the Junk Gypsies.  In true Junk Gypsy style, this pouch has a fun, whimsical and bohemian vibe.

There are so many things I love about this pouch, starting with the super soft 100% suede leather fabric.  It feels like butter to the touch and is a high quality grade of leather. I know a lot about leather products from my years of buying and sourcing for Eddie Bauer.

Junk Gypsy Wanderer Fringe Pouch from Pottery Barn Teen

The other thing I love about this bag is the fringe detail and tassel zipper pull.  How did PB know my love for tassels runs deep?

When it comes to handbags, I always look for special details that give a bag pizzazz and the fringe + tassel do that to this simple clutch.

Junk Gypsy Wanderer Fringe Pouch from Pottery Barn Teen

There are not pockets on the inside of the pouch but that’s ok because it forces me to keep the contents light.

I’ve so enjoyed pairing this bag with jeans and sweaters this winter and it’s going to be the perfect accessory for a cowboy themed birthday party we’re going to in a few weeks.

Junk Gypsy Wanderer Fringe Pouch from Pottery Barn TeenIf you love backpacks, there’s also a Wandered Fringe Backpack  which is the perfect hands free bag for a weekend of shopping.  And both the pouch and backpack are currently on sale!

There are so many great items in the Junk Gypsy for Pottery Barn Teen collection.  You can check out all of the items here.

disclaimer:  Pottery Barn Teen sent me this product in exchange for a review.  Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Teen are two of my go-to sources for stylish and affordable decor and gift items. I am happy to partner with them in sharing some of the products I love. All text, images and opinions are my own.

Summer Must-Haves–My Shopping List

Summertime and the living is easy!

I loving this beautiful weather we’re having.  I trying to soak up every minute of these low humidity days because I know that in no time flat it will be hot, humid and sticky outside.  A couple of weeks ago I purged my closet and organized it for the warmer months.  I’ve also been doing the same with my decor.  After all the organizing was done I made a shopping list for a few new things I needed wanted to help me usher in summer.

Summer Must Haves-2016.001

If you know me, you know I love colorful earrings, especially during the summer.  I’ve got my eyes on these Baha Drop Earrings which happen to have two of my favorite summer colors in them–turquoise and orange.
I’ve had this book, It’s Not How Good You Are on my reading list for a while now and just picked it up to take on the cruise we have planned later this summer.  I always enjoy inspirational reads when we travel because my mind is more relaxed and I can really absorb the content.
My favorite candle scent of all times is gardenia and this Gardenia Scented Candle is what I’m burning right now in my office.  I wish you could scratch your screen and enjoy this amazing scenes with me.
I’ve never met a handbag I didn’t like and this Boho Clutch is not only colorful and cute, it’s only $9.99!  The perfect piece for a weekend or to throw in a larger summer tote like the one below.
Target has some really, really fabulous tote bags right now and this classic Straw Tote with Tassel is perfect of all my summer activities.  Available in 4 colors.
I spotted this Acrylic Monogram Bracelet  when I was shopping for earrings and think it’s perfect for my summer wardrobe.
I started wearing readers a few years ago and have been on the hunt for reader sunglasses.  My favorite reading eyewear company, Peepers has a great selection of sunglasses and great prices and these tortoise Reader Sunglasses are my fave.
I already own 3 pair of Converse sneakers and just ordered these adorable Converse Crochet Sneakers.  They’re also available in navy.
I think I found the perfect dessert spoons for summer,  Floral Dessert Spoons  from One Kings Lane.
I rarely shop at Old Navy but popped in over the Memorial Day weekend because they were having a great sale.  I bought these Stripped Linen Pants ($20) which just scream summer to me.  Also available in a cropped length which would be really cute with your crocheted sneakers.

Favorite Posts, Pins and Products of the week!

Favorites Of The Week

Boy has this been a crazy week and to top it all off, I am in a battle with Target trying to get an online order issue resolved.  It is so sad that customer service has just fallen by the wayside and that companies just don’t seem to care.  When I had my store and even now with my design and Etsy business my #1 priority is to provide a great product and great service and to leave my customers satisfied and happy.

Enough about my trials and tribulations…let’s get on the some happy stuff.  I’ve been sharing inspirational photos and links on Saturdays for a while but a couple of weeks ago I reworked the Saturday post to share my favorite Posts, Pins and Products with you.  I really like the format so I’ll be sprinkling more of these post into my lineup going forward.

I hope you find inspiration in what I’m sharing and are enticed to shop some of the great products I come across (No affiliate link involved).  Enjoy!

Two thumbs up for the weekend!

Now that we’ve sprung forward and the first official day of spring is just days away, I feel like its time to make the switch in my closet from my winter wardrobe to my spring wardrobe.  It’s also time to take stock of what I own and head out to buy a few new fashion pieces.  On my shopping list this spring are boho inspired looks.  Boho style is a lot like my design style–eclectic, whimsical and full of personality so it’s no wonder I like this look.

Here are a few pieces I’ve spotted while shopping the web.

Busy as a bee & Mad About Plaid!

Plaid via Midwest Living

midwest living

Hello friends.  You may have noticed that posting on the blog has been sparse this week for several reasons.  I’ve been busy as a bee with work and projects and on top of that I’ve been fighting off a cold and haven’t felt good.  I guess that sudden change in cooler weather caught my system off guard.  Anyway, the combination of buy and sick hasn’t left me with the time or energy to blog.

I did want to pop in today to share one of favorite on-line shops with you, one which I have mentioned quite a bit here on the blog.  Mark & Graham can do not wrong in my book.  I love every one of their items and especially love their totes, cosmetic bags and small travel accessories.  Mark & Graham has been flooding my inbox with their new fall introductions so I thought I’d share a some of my favorite plaid piece with you today.  If you’re not excited for fall yet, these gorgeous plaid items will definitely put you in the mood.

Mad About Plaid.001

I think this Monogrammed Plaid Tote is the perfect fall bag for a day of shopping or taking to the football game. The navy colorway is pretty cute too.

I’m taking the rest of the week off to get well and get caught up on work and projects so I’ll see you back here on Monday!

A Summer Fashion Must–Striped Tote Bag

Summer Tote

There are a list of things I can’t live without in the summer including my white converse, a pair of classic espadrilles, maxi dresses and a striped tote bag.

During the summer I tend to carry move stuff in my handbag and have found that carrying a tote works best for me.  I own several tote bag styles but when it comes to a summer tote, stripes are a favorite.

I’ve done a little shopping for you and rounded up my favorite striped bags of the season.

What makes for a great tote bag:

relaxed but sturdy shape

comfortable carry handles

sturdy bottom–I love tote bags that have a reinforced bottom, leather bottom or one with metal feet

easy to get in and out of

a zip closure is ideal but not a requirement

and of course cute!

With all the space a tote bag has, I know that sometimes the inside can get a little unorganized so here’s a tip that will help you keep the inside of  your bag looking great:

Buy a purse organizer.  Whoever invented this item is a genius.  A purse organizer allows you to corral all your belongs in a neat and compact way and when you want to change handbags, just pull the entire piece out and place it in your new bag.

Summer’s here so grab your tote and enjoy the season.

Let’s Get Crafty: DIY Pom Pom Bag Charm

Pom Pom Bag Charm

Hi there,

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I adore long weekends this time of year because it means road trips, sitting in the sun and sleeping in late.  I’m already looking forward to the next 3-day weekend.

So if you’re wondering why I’m posting so late today it’s because I totally planned to publish this post yesterday (Monday) but with all the relaxing I was doing over the weekend I simply forget to hit the publish button.  And this morning my to-do list got the best of me.  Oh well, better late than never.

Today I’m going to show you an easy craft project to can make.  Ever since I spotted my first handbag charm, I’ve been wanting to make my own.  The first one’s I spotted were from Furbish Studio and they featured little elephants.  Soon after seeing that one I began to see bag charm popping up all over web and Pinterest. Since I’m not into animals or fancy details when it comes to my bags, the simpler bag charms became my favorite.

So the question became,  BUY or DIY?

 I decided to diy!

DIY Pom Pom Bag Charm6

Making your own bag charms is really simple and inexpensive.  You’ll need the following supplies all of which are available at your local craft store:

Slide1

To make your charms, thread a large yarn needle with the yarn color of your choice.

Insert the yarn into one pom pom and then back again leaving a length of yarn hanging.

Thread a large bead onto the yarn and then tie the yard to your hinge hook at the length you want.  You can also thread a bead onto the base of your pom pom like I did with the blue pom pom.

You can tie as many pom poms onto your hook as you want but make sure to stagger them at different lengths so the charms hangs well.

DIY Pom Pom Bag Charm1

It took me about 20 minutes to make my bag charm and I just love the way it turned out.  I’ll definitely be making more of these these.

if you want to make your own pom poms, follow these easy steps

Thanks for stopping by.  See you back here tomorrow.
