Shopping For Stationery | Chinoiserie Style

Hi friends.  I hope everyone had a great weekend and Easter.  It’s not secret that I love paper products and today I’m sharing one of my favorite paper companies with.

I love beautiful stationery and as a business owner personalized stationery is part of my branding when communicating with clients.

I was on the hunt recently for new notecards and my search led me to WH Hostess Social Stationery.   WH Hostess sells paper goods including stationery, party decor, gift packaging and personalized gifts.  Their designs are fresh and modern and I love the variety of patterns and colors they offer. Chinoiserie inspired designs are one of my favorite and WH Hostess has a great selection of chinoiserie stationery.

GIFT TAGS

If you think gift tags are just for gift  giving, think again.  Personalized gift tags with your business logo and name can be used as a creative alternative to a business card.  I use them to tag fabric sample rings or other design samples.  You can also use personalized stickers in the same way.

I jot down notes and reminders on a daily basis so a pretty notepad is essential to my day.  And love giving personalized notepads as gifts.

Fab Finds From Pier 1–(budget friendly decor)

Budget Friendly Accessories from Pier 1

I received an email the other day from Pier 1 and it prompted me to head over to their website to see what was new.  Pier 1 is one of those stores that has lots of hidden gems amongst the array of pillows, plates and decorative objects.  While surfing their site I discovered quite a few items that hit on all cylinders–style & price.  Check out my favorites pieces available from Pier 1 right now.

Budget Friendly Accessories from Pier1

No. 1 — I don’t often look to Pier 1 for rugs but I love the pattern and colors in this Diamond Scroll Blue Rug.  I can envision it in a living room with a linen sofa and leather chair. Or in a bedroom along side a linen headboard and sleek ceramic lamps.  This rug ranges in price from $110 to $679 and is available in 6 sizes.
No. 2  — I have to tell you this Bayan Ottoman stopped me in my track.  I of course love the faux bamboo frame and the price of $79.98. #yesplease A pair of these at the foot of a bed or nestled under a console table would be great.
No. 3  — Quatrefoil patterns are a classic design element and this Mother of Pearl Quatrefoil Mirror is a beauty.  It would look great in a powder room or over a nightstand in a bedroom. $239.20.
No. 4 — When it comes to Christmas pillows, Pier 1 has a one of the best selections I seen so far.  If you decorate in non-traditional colors or want a subtle Christmas statement, this PomPom Merry Christmas Pillow is perfect. And it’s only $29.95. ***through Nov. 1st you can save an additional 20% on Christmas decor with the code HOLDIT
No. 5 — Copper is a big design trend right now and I think were going to see it being used in holiday decor too.  This Copper Hammered Charger Plate ($14.95) would look really pretty mixed with fall colors as part of a Thanksgiving tablescape.
No. 6 — It’s hard to pass up a Monogram Letter Tray especially when it has a gold rim and it’s only $9.95.

Can you believe that it’s almost November and the unofficial start of the holiday season?  If you’re looking to refresh your home for the holidays now’s the time to jump on these great finds and the extra savings on Christmas decor. Plus there’s free shipping on order over $49!

I love conceptualizing beautiful tablescapes and finding the unique elements that bring my vision to life.

For my fall table this year, I’m dreaming of blue and white decor with pops of orange and accents of wood.  I want the table to have a rustic but elegant feel with a vintage vibe.  Here’s how I see the table coming together…

Creative Gift Giving–Stationery Box

CS Stationery Suite7

If you’ve been reading the blog for a while or follow me on Instagram, you know I love beautiful stationery.  I’m a sucker for the boxed notecards at HomeGoods and I’ve been known to handcraft my own monogram notecards.

As a business owner and lifestyle blogger, I make it a practice to send cards and notes to all my design clients and to new friends that I meet through blogging.  I also love to give beautiful stationery as gifts.

Today I’m sharing a fun and stylish gift idea that’s  easy to pull together, Monogrammed Stationery Suite!

The first thing you’ll need to do to create this stationery set is to compile an assortment of notecards. The perfect stationery suite should include thank you cards, blank note cards, blank or decorative tags and maybe even some decorative or monogrammed stickers.

Here are the items I included in my set:

CS Stationery Suite2

DIY Monogram Notecard // Personalized Notepad // Monogram Stickers // Personalized Thank You Cards // Gift Tags (similar)

CS Stationery Suite6

CS Stationery Suite4

DIY Monogram Notecards // Personalized Notepad // Monogram Stickers // Personalized Thank You Cards // Gift Tags (similar)

tip: You may also want to include a pretty pen in the stationery suite so the gift recipient has everything they need to send notes.

Next, head to the store and pick up a small acrylic drawer unit.  I purchased this one from HomeGoods for less than $8 but I also love this one from the Container Store.

Acrylic Box

Once all the items are pulled together, arrange them in each drawer so all the cards and stickers can be seen.

To personalize the top of the box, use these embroidered iron-on letters and simply glue them onto the top of the box.

tip:  the initials are white when you purchased them but you can easily use a Sharpie to change the color like I did.  I used this same technique when I made my DIY monogram straw hat.

DIY Monogram Straw Hat

Monogram Hat Cover.001

In a couple of months we’ll be setting sail on our 8th cruise to the Caribbean.  This time around out ports of call will be Aruba, Bonaire, the Dominican Republic and Grand Turks.  #soexcited

I’ve already started picking up a few new items for the trip, one of which was a new sun hat for me.  A plain straw hat would have worked fine but I had to give my hat a little extra something-something.

DIY MONOGRAM STRAW HAT

Monogram Straw Hat

Here’s how the project started…

I bought this basic wide brim hat from Wal-Mart for under $5.00 ($3.35 to be exact).  You can see that it has a thin brown cord as a decorative touch but the brown wasn’t working for me.  Neither was the plain brim.

So I replaced the cord with a black and white striped ribbon and added my monogram to the back of the brim.  Instant style!

Mongram Straw Hat2

All it took to replace the cording was a few snips with the scissors and some fabric glue to attach the new ribbon.

To create my monogram, I purchased some white iron-on letters from Hobby Lobby.  These are the same brand of letters I used to make my monogram napkins.

What I love about these letters is they allow you to create a true three-letter monogram.

Joy Monogram Letters

The only downside is the letters only come in white so your design options are limited.

I came up with an easier solution and all it took was a Sharpie.  To get the black letters I wanted, I used a Permanent Sharpie Marker and colored over each letter.

All that was left to do was to position my monogram onto the back of the hat and iron it in place.

(before ironing, cover the letters with a piece of fabric so you don’t get ink on your iron or burn your letters)

This was such an easy update and now my hat that looks like it was made for a Mediterrian cruise.

The hat is available in four other colors so take your pick and make your own chic summer sun hat.

One of my favorite online stores is Zazzle.  I discovered them a few years ago when I was looking for business cards.  Boy was I amazed at the enormous offering of card designs and how great the prices were.  Since then I’ve bought a variety of paper products from Zazzle including address labels and wrapping paper.

Most recently I ordered some monogram stickers so I could make my own monogram notecards.

Who else if happy that we’ll be springing forward tonight with the time change?  I love the extra daylight this time of year and the added energy I get when springtime arrives.  The only downside is the nasty pollen and my allergies.   Before I head out to enjoy the weekend, I wanted to drop in and share a few things that caught my attend this week.  Enjoy your weekend and my favorite post, pictures and pins!

The Look For Less–Monogram Christmas Ornament

Alaphbet Ornament Tree

Alaphabet Tree2
via

It’s beginning to look a bit like Christmas around my house.  I’ve pulled the Christmas pillows out, started decorating here and there and will get my tree set up and decorated this weekend.  If you’ve read my blog for a while you know that I change my tree theme each year.  A majority of the decorations are pieces that I already own but a few new pieces get added each year.

Two of the key components on my tree will be monogrammed ornaments and lots of red which was partly inspired by the tree decor above.

Last year I purchased a few of these beautiful blown glass alphabet ornaments from Pottery Barn at $7.50 each and had plans to add a few more to my collection.

glass-alphabet-ornaments-c

But yesterday I stumbled across the almost identical monogram ornament at JoAnn’s on sale for $3.99.  While the details aren’t exactly the same, these ornaments will still give me the look and feel I want the tree to have.

I’ll be sharing my completed Christmas tree decor with you on Dec. 2nd as part of a blogger holiday home tour I’m participating in so stayed turned.
