So, have you heard that Pantone has announced the 2014 color of the year? Coming off a year where the top color, Emerald was such a strong statement in the design and fashion world, I was nervous if the 2014 Pantone color could live up to it predecessor. I’m not sure….
Introducing the 2014 Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid!
To be honest, when I first saw this color, I was a bit disappointed. This version of purple is a really hard color not only to wear but to decorate with and I’m not sure it’s going to translate in the mass market like Emerald did. Pantone on the other hand has described their color choice in such a beautiful way that you can’t help but like it….
“An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”
Since I still have a few more weeks to get use to the color before 2014 officially arrives and since my mind is all about Christmas these days, I thought I share the new color with you through a Christmas filter.
So what do you think? Is Radiant Orchid a color you’re going to embrace or are you like me and still undecided on this color?
Maybe a Radiant Orchid cocktail will help me decide!
Pomegranate Splash 1 oz Pom or pomegranate mixer/juice ½ oz wild blueberry mixer/juice 1 oz vodka ½ oz raspberry Chambord Add ingredients to cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake until cold and frothy. Pour through strainer into chilled glasses. If you need more Radiant Orchid inspiration, check out my Radiant Orchid Pinterest board.

I have to admit that it is a stunning color, but I’m not sure how much I would invest in it….for a long-term purchase.

I have to say I really love this color. I know it can be iffy, but if done right it’s so classic and gorgeous. I may be biased since purple and any shade of it has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember.
