All Wrapped Up For Christmas

T-minus 5 days and counting until Christmas.

The Christmas shopping is all done and boxes have been shipped.  Things are starting to settle down around here and that has given me a chance to get most of my holiday gifts wrapped.

I love wrapping gifts and it was so much fun this year to coordinate my gift wrap with my holiday tartan plaid theme.

Here’s a look at my 2014 Holiday Gift Wrap and a few tips that will help you put the finishing touches on your own gifts.

The ribbon I used on my Christmas tree included a tartan plaid with red, green, gold and black in it and a black and white diamond pattern.  I used this color palette for all my holiday wrapping.

When it comes to wrapping paper, I love mix and match the paper I use. The black and white stripe paper came from Michael’s and the tartan plaid is from the Container Store.

I use a combination of ribbons, bows and embellishments when I wrap gifts which create a unique look for each package. Since most stores have their holiday product on sale, it’s a good time to buy ornaments and other items you can use to adorn your gifts.

I also keep a stash of jingle bells on hand and love adding them to the top of a gift in place of a bow.  The holly leaf is a craft embellishment from Hobby Lobby and is one of my favorite all-time holiday accents.  I bought about 12 packs this year to replenish my stash.  You can see how I used them on the handmade gift tags I made in 2011.

Pattern mixing is a great way to create fun gift wrapping.  Polka dots work for every occasion and this year I pair black and white dots with black and white ribbon and red and white striped paper ribbon from PaperJacks

I always keep large scraps of wrapping paper and use them as belly bands around solid colored paper.  The red paper is from Ikea (great source for inexpensive, quality gift wrap) and the black and white ribbon is from my favorite ribbon source, May Arts.

I didn’t use a lot of gold in my wrapping but did mix in this black and gold dot paper that I bought at Michael’s.

This tartan plaid and black and white herringbone ribbon is my favorite combination.  This gorgeous ribbon is from Save On Crafts and is a great buy.

We are planning a quiet night at home tonight and I plan to sit by the tree and take it all in.

They’re all gorgeous. I wouldn’t want to open them. They’re mini works of art. You remind me of my mother. She always beautifully wrapped gifts. Merry Christmas, Shelly!
