Hard to image that 7 months of the year have flown by and that Christmas is just 4 months away!
I’m excited to welcome August in a new way. A few days ago on Instagram, I shared my plans to create an Inspiration Notebook. My goal for the notebook is to have it serve as a visual diary of things that I’m admiring, projects I’m working on and ideas that have inspired me.
My notebook was inspired by the editor’s page in House Beautiful where Newell Turner, editor-in-chief creates a vision board and shares a personal note about what’s inspiring him along with highlights from the current issue of the magazine.
So as fall approaches and the last bits of summer are enjoyed, I hope you have big plans for August and I hope you enjoy my Inspiration Notebook!

The color you select really will depend on the other elements in the room. Think about your flooring and wall colors and I would recommend a darker wood tone as it works great with grays. As for the shape, depending on the size of the overall room and other elements, I’d look at a square shape. If you have lots of other square/rectangular elements in the room then consider a round shape to help break things up. And lastly, regarding the material–my choice is to go with wood or if an upholstered piece works thats an option. An upholstered piece will allow you to bring in another pattern or color and can add more visual interest than a wood piece. I hope these tips help.
