I don’t send out Valentines cards every year, but this year I decided to get crafty and make a card that’s actually a usable gift.
Because I’m sending these gifts to a few of my special girlfriends, I wanted it to be something that was personal and could be used in different ways. After coming across a piece of leather I had stashed away I decide to make a keepsake heart charm.
I crafted the charms by cutting a heart shape out of leather. The leather’s original color was a creamy tan so I used some brown shoe polish to darken it a bit. I glue a wood initial on the front of each charm to personalize it and for an extra touch I added a petite tassel.
My gal pals can hang the tag on a handbag (like I’m going to do with the one I made for myself) or use it as a key chain.
Each of the charms will be packaged in a silver tin with a simple Valentines note.
Because I’m mailing most of the tins, I used decorative tape to seal the opening and will use a heart shaped address label on the top.
This was a super easy project and I love the way they turned out.
Valentine’s Day is all about letting the people you love know it and I can’t wait for my friends to get their gifts and know how much they mean to me.
