When it comes to decorating, there are a lot of decorative elements that I’m obsessed with.
I love bamboo picture frames and brass planters. I have a weakness for decorative boxes and animal print pillows. I rarely ever pass up a piece of milkglass or ironstone when I’m out antiquing. And then there’s my love of decorative knobs. Whenever I’m at Anthropologie or Hobby Lobby, I always visit the knob bins. The bins are like jewelry trays and I just love checking out all the sparkly, colorful knobs and envisioning how I can use them to update a piece of furniture or use them on a diy project.
I recently looked through a basket when I store my knobs and realized I have quite the collection. Some of the knobs I have plans for and others I just loved and couldn’t pass up. Last year I gave our bedroom armoire a makeover and UpStyled it with paint and knobs from Hobby Lobby.
Decorative knobs are one of the most cost-effective decorative elements you can buy, to easily and quickly transform a piece of furniture. But finding the perfect knob can sometimes be a challenge. To help you with the hunt, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite knob sources and what each of them has to offer.
Amazon is the holy grail of shopping and you can find just about anything you want on their site. Their knob selection is extensive and you’ll find a good mix of styles to choose from. If you’re looking for something really unique there are other sources that have more options but for basic knobs Amazon is a great resource.
So who hasn’t been drawn in by the beautiful knobs and pulls at Anthropologie. They have some of the most unique styles and really excel in offering great range of more modern, contemporary and artistic designs. Expect to pay a bit more at Anthropologie but their selection is well worth it.
Knobs for Less is an online resource that has a huge offering of basic and stylized knobs as well as themed knobs and pulls. There are over 500 pages to view just in cabinet knobs alone. I love their selection of cup pulls and bar handles and find that they have good pricing overall.
D. Lawless is another online resource but they have a more limited selection of knobs and pulls. Their selection of antique brass reproduction hardware is nice if you’re looking for something vintage inspired.
My day-in-day out source for decorative knobs is definitely Hobby Lobby. You can’t beat their prices (50% off this week) and they have lots of great styles to choose from. Also, they mark knobs down during their clearance events and you can find knobs as love as .80 cents which I always take advantage of. p.s. I am currently in love with this pull!
School House Electric is my favorite source of sleek, modern styles. They have a small but awesome selection of brass knobs and industrial inspired designs. They are also one of the few resources that offers a card file pull which I love, love, love.
Card File Pull Handle from School House Electric.
Another online resource I like is VanDykes. They have one of the best glass knob and pull selections of all the resources I’ve listed, and just about any style of metal, wood and resin knob you might need. Their glass cup pull (shown below) is stunning!
And finally, Top Knobs. They have a nice selection of both knobs and pulls and they break their knobs into collections–kitchen, bath and closet which can make shopping a bit easier if you’re looking for a particular end use. Another nice things about this site is that you can order up to three samples for free with a single $5.00 shipping charge. When your order arrives you’ll receive a $5.00 coupon to use on any order you place of $50 or more. It’s a great way to check out a speciality knob or pull without investing a lot.
Decorative knobs are definitely one of my top design tips so the next time you’re looking to refresh a piece of furniture consider a quick fix with decorative knobs.

Shelly, you’re a woman after my own heart! We’re going to be moving this year and don’t yet know when. I’ve been collecting different bookmarks for our soon to be house. The knob links are just up my alley. Thank you!
