This year my holiday gift wrap was all about a classic Christmas colors and fun embellishments. I always add a little something extra to any gift I give but during the holidays I tend to embellish my gifts more.
In my world, giving a gift that is beautifully wrapped is part of the gift giving experience.
I’m having fun with the Pom Pom ties I made
and pulled out my stash of collected holiday embellishments to wrap my other gifts.
Every year I buy a handful of fun ornaments that I plan to use as gift embellishments. After Christmas sales are usually when I pick these up for the next year but this year so many stores are having big sales before Christmas that I scored many of these ornaments at 70% off (Michael’s).
These ceramic stocking ornaments were .38 cents and were fun to decorate with a Sharpie!
I also made some of the gift embellishments like the wood Christmas tree painted in chalkboard paint and the gold wood star below.
When it comes to gift wrapping I also like to use a mix of papers and ribbons that all work together but give each gift its own personality.
Combining ribbons is also a trick I use when wrapping gifts. The red and ivory ribbon below has been twisted together to create a fun rope look.
Holiday Gift Wrapping Tips:
Create a color theme with your paper and ribbons
The more bows the merrier
Use double-sided tape to create crisp, clean seams
Use monogram elements to identify the gift recipient
Use small ball ornaments to add a pop of color to the top of gifts
When you add an ornament embellishment you are not only creating a fun gift topper but the ornament is a little extra gift
Play Christmas music or watch a favorite holiday movie when you’re wrapping because it will make the task more fun
Happy Holidays and Happy Wrapping!
