I love a beautiful office space like the one above from House of Harper. A space doesn’t have to be big or super fancy to grab my attention, it just has to be efficient and filled with stylish organization and lots of personality.
I have an entire pinterest board dedicated to office, craft and hobby rooms with over 500 images of some of the most beautiful and creative work spaces ever. The common thread within all of the spaces I admire are the style details and organizing ideas.

Here are a few of my favorite spaces and office decor inspiration….
A painted desk is a cost-effective and easy way to add a pop of color to any work space. The Ikea Bjursta table is the perfect candidate if you’re looking for a large work surface and it can easily be updated with a coat or paint. I can’t help but be in love with these grass green lacquered tables below.

Desk top storage is key to an organized office and when its stylish it’s even better. A coat of paint and metallic craft tape and you can turn this storage piece into a chic piece like the gold and white box below.
Chic Storage Caddy
Every creative work space needs a pretty chair so I say go looking for a thrift store bargain and create a style that fits your decor.
I’ve tried several different office chairs hoping to find the right one that makes working long hours comfortable. If you’re feeling any kid of pressure on your neck, back or shoulders you might have the wrong chair. I stumbled across this tip which can come in handy when you’re out chair shopping.
Stylish Office Chair
An organized office is a must for me and pretty storage boxes are always in the equation. I bypass buying expensive storage boxes and buy craft paper and photo boxes at Micheals that can easily be painted or covered in decorative wrapping paper or scrapbook paper. Another bonus of buying boxes at the craft store is most come with a metal label plate already attached AND you can use a coupon for even more savings.
p.s. keep your eyes open because Micheals often has the photos boxes on sale for as little as $1.00 each.
Office Organization
If your creative space is on the small side, consider acrylic storage bins which will keep the space looking airy and uncluttered. The Container Store is always a good source for acrylic boxes and bins and HomeGoods has stepped up their game and you can find lots to choose from there too.
Acrylic Office Organization
I’ve seen lots of people paint and wallpaper metal file cabinets as a way to dress them up but this idea of painting and adding frame and label holder to the front just might be my favorite. You can buy thrift store frames and label holders and without spending a lot of money you can easily UpStyle your file cabinet. Jen at I Heart Organizing has a great round-up of sources for label holders. If you’re looking for a GREAT DEAL, I spotted a set of 27 decorative label holders from Oriental Trading on sale for…wait for it….$2.78! (I may or may not have order multiple sets) 🙂
File Cabinet UpStyle
While you’re shopping Oriental Trading, pick up some personalized pencils for your workspace.
Another item I feel is an essential in any creative space is an inspiration board. I am a firm believer that if you surround yourself with images of things that inspire, motivate and uplift you, it plays a big role in achieving your goals and dreams.
