My Christmas Tree–2011

We’ll,  here it is….our Christmas Tree.

Every year I create a different theme for my tree.  No, I don’t go out and buy all new ornaments.  I may take an element from a previous theme and create a new theme around that. And, I always try to hand make a few of my ornaments to give my tree a really personal touch.  Last year my tree was all silver, primarily mercury glass.

This year my theme is vintage inspired with a mix of red, mercury glass, burlap. sheet music and crafted elements.    I love the way it turned out!  Hope you enjoy it.

Sorry for the grainy photo.  The tree sits in front of french doors and the sunlight is killer.

Here’s a upclose detail shot of  a section of the tree.  The burlap ribbon is loosely wound around the tree and my sheet music rolls are tucked all around the tree.

The yarn pom-poms I made are wrapped around the burlap ribbon.  These will be making another appearance in my gift wrapping too!

The dress form I use when I’m making my jewelry is tucked to the side of the tree. I hope one day she’ll be wearing that fur vest that is on my Christmas list.

These are the ornaments that were under construction a few days ago.  I used cardboard coasters, sheet music, saying tags and tinsel string  to create them.  Each one has a jingle bell and twine holder.

I also made these clear glass music ornaments.  I cut some sheet music into thin strips, wound it around a pencil and then inserted the curled paper pieces into clear glass ornaments.  A tiny bell hangs from the top of each ornament.

These sheet music pin wheel ornaments were also handmade.  After creating the pin wheel I placed a decorative paper circle in the center and then layered on a tiny mirror circle for shimmer.

This ornament was purchased and fit in with my theme perfectly.

My tree skirt is a red ruffle edge shawl that I have.  It works like a charm.

p.s.  the circle tag on the gift under the tree was my inspiration for my ornaments.  I purchased it from Pottery Barn.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my Christmas tree and all my handcrafted goodness.  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I’ll be back Monday with all the finishing touches to my decor….front door wreath, gift tags,  Christmas cards and my holiday gift wrapping!

Have a fabulous weekend!
