Since Learning New Things, Being Inspired and Growing my Professional and Personal Self are a few of my goals for 2012, I’ve pulled together a reading list that will help me in all those area. And, new books mean new decorating opportunities.
Here’s what I’ll be reading this year AND some design inspiration for decorating with books.
Vintage Remix–Interiors of Kishani Perera–Available April
Kishani Perera is a designer I’ve recently become familiar with. Her book promises to be “a guided tour through the stages of design, from deciding when to skimp or splurge to adding the finishing touches and unexpected elements of whimsy”, while showcasing her love for all things vintage.
The Joy of Decorating by Phoebe Howard–Available in April
Phoebe Howard is one of my design idols and I can’t believe this is her first book. It promises to be full of design advice and photo inspiration. A great addition to my design library.
Roots of Style–Isabel Toledo–Available March
Ever since Michelle Obama wore that gorgeous Isabel Toledo gown at the presidential inauguration, I’ve been smitten with her. I can’t wait to dive into her life story and learn all about her fashion inspiration.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People–Stephen Covey
Believe it or not, but I’ve never read this book. I know it is a must-read for anyone wanting to be better and do better so I’m definitely going to get to it this year.
A Place of Yes–Bethenny Frankel
I happen to be one of those people who really admire Bethenny and all that she has accomplished. I can’t wait to read more about the lessons she’s learned in life and how she created her success.
The Business of Design–Keith Granet
I’ve read fabulous things about this book and how essential it is for anyone in the design industry. Plus, it was highly recommended by one of my design idols, Tobi Fairley.
Simply Divine: A Guide to Easy, Elegant and Affordable Entertaining–Lisa Vanderpump
Lisa is one of my favorites from RHW of Beverly Hills and I just love her style. I can’t wait to learn all her tips and techniques for creating beautiful events and tablescapes.
The 10X Rule–Grant Cardone
Another recommended read from Tobi Fairley, this book promises to give you the techniques to increase your personal development and achieve ultimate success.
And finally….
The Perfectly Imperfect Home–Deborah Needleman, fouunding editor-in-chief of Domino
This book looks like some much fun and is full of great design advice. Plus, the illustrations are simply gorgeous!
So, what’s on your reading list this year AND, do you have a fun tip for decorating with books?? I’d love to know!
