I’m back with another installment of Product & Inspiration and this time we’re talking decor for your kitchen.
Do you love the look of open plate racks in the kitchen? I do. I typically like to keep my functional kitchenware behind closed doors but the idea of a plate rack to display beautiful plates and platters is growing on me. On a recent trip to Ikea I spotted the Gamleby Wall Shelf and considered buying it.
To sell myself on purchasing it, I went searching for some inspiration and found lots of it.
I love the look of two wall shelves hung together to give a kitchen wall major impact and create a ‘pretty’ storage display.
You can paint an unfinished shelf like the Gamleby shelf any color but painting it the same color as your cabinets will make it feel like an extension of the kitchen cabinets instead of an add-on.
Open wall shelves don’t have to be used just for plates. I love the look of cutting boards and silver serving trays mixed in with ceramic pieces.
And if the idea of displaying plates in the kitchen is not for you, how about using the wall piece as a children’s bookshelf?
