Hi there and Happy Monday!
I hope your weekend was a good one. The hubs and I continued our weekend road trips, exploring the cities surrounding Atlanta. On Saturday morning we headed north of Atlanta towards Cumming to check out some antique stores and see the countryside. It’s amazing that how much beautiful land is still untouched just outside Atlanta.
We stopped at a few local antique and thrift stores and found some treasures along the way. I scored on some wonderful ironstone pieces, a large (and heavy) brass pineapple, some milk glass and red tole trays. It was a good antiquing day.
On Sunday I set out to practice my photography and take photos for this weeks class lesson. I wanted to take photos of something unique and different so that first place we headed was Oglethorpe University. If you’ve never been on the school grounds you need to plan a visit and walk around. The architecture is amazing and you feel like you have been thrust into mid-evil times.
Directly behind the campus commons building is this handmade iron globe fire pit that sits in the middle of a ring of chairs. It was fun photographing this piece.
After leaving Oglethorpe we made our way over to Chamblee Antique Row and I found this pretty fountain to photograph. I’m learning how to use all the settings on the camera and was able to capture the water in motion.
Our last stop was at the Chastain Horse Park. I’ve loved horses ever since I was little so taking these photos and petting the horses was a real treat.
This white horse was so sweet and just kept nuzzling me. I think she wanted to come home with me.
There were about 25 horses in the stables and this next one stood because of its eyes. One eye was light and the other was dark.
I could have stayed there all afternoon taking photos of these beautiful animals.
The hubs likes horses as much a I do and after spending the afternoon with these horses, he made the decision to take riding lessons. I’m looking forward to him starting class and creating some great moments for me to capture on film.
I’ve got some great design post planned for this week so I’ll see you back here tomorrow!
