The Magic of Magnolia Market

Like many of you, I too have become a big fan of the HGTV design show Fixer Upper and Chip and Joanna Gaines.  There is just something magical in the way they can transform a worn down house into a charming, personality filled home and make it look as easy as a summer afternoon in the south.

Since the odds of being on Fixer Upper or hanging out with Chip and Joanna are pretty slim, the next best thing for getting a little Magnolia magic is to visit their retail store in Waco, TX.  I was thrilled when I got the chance to do just that at the beginning of the month.

Magnolia Market and the silos is a magical place.  You can feel it the minute you enter the downtown area of Waco and begin to see the traffic building as the silos loom in the near distance.

The silos, an old manufacturing site in Waco is now the home to Magnolia Market and is undoubtedly one of the most popular spots in Waco.

If you imagined that Magnolia would feel like one of the homes that Joanna designs you’re right.  The store is filled with many of the same items she decorates with on the show and the feel and vibe of the store is casual with a rustic flair.

There are two levels to the store, the upper level where you enter and the lower level with more products and local vendors selling items like gourmet popcorn.  The store is pretty big so even with hundreds of people inside, it’s still pretty easy to move around and shop.

I loved the simple displays and vignettes around the store.

Most of the products they sell appeared to be new goods but I did spot some vintage pieces in the store like this old wood bench.

One of my favorite items in the entire store were these hand-drawn magnolia flower images which was drawn by one of the store employees. I can image a series of these framed and hanging on the wall.  I picked up the smaller sizes and plan to get it framed soon.  You can buy one here.

There were lots of containers, glassware, baskets and bins for sale–something Joanna uses in every space she designs.

Faux flowers were everywhere and greeted you at the entrance.

I spotted lots of vintage grain sack style linens.

These Magnolia embroidered labels were really cute and a great marketing piece.

This basket was really nice–great for pillows, throws or toys.

Lots of European soaps.

I saw many of these signs going out the door with customers.

Chip has his own corner of mens items and gadgets.

Once outside the store you’ll find this fun family zone where the kids can play games and the adults can recover from all the money they just spent 🙂

There is also a garden area on the property where the goats live and fresh produce is grown.

And the famous red vintage jeep.

If you’re visiting Waco, you’ll definitely want to add the Silo’s to your list of places to visit.  Even if you don’t do any shopping, it’s a fun shop to check out and will be even better when Magnolia Flour, the soon to open bakery is up and running.  If you can’t make it to the store, you can shop yourself silly at their online store.

I think Magnolia is a pretty magical place and would really love to check it our during the Christmas season.

Love! I didn’t see several items you captured here. Just means I’ll need to make another trip to Magical Magnolia real soon.
