PRETTY IN PINK BEDROOM REFRESH
Whew! Refreshing our bedroom for spring has taken a lot longer than I expected. I was originally waiting for pillow covers to arrive from overseas, then my schedule got super busy and last week I got sick. Despite it all, I’m so glad to have the little project done and so excited to share it with you.
Let’s take a look at where it all started.
I spotted this floral pillow cover on Etsy and immediately fell in love. I don’t decorate with many floral pattens but something about this design and the colors captured my heart.
Once I had the pillows in hand, I created a design board to represent the vision I had for the space. I love our headboard and frame and wanted to stick with a foundation of black and white for the room. I also wanted to add in more gold accents and a pop of green.
As I was planning the space, Christina from MyLoveNotedesigns contacted me and asked if I would be interested in reviewing her custom designed art. I jumped at the opportunity! What timing and just the detail I was looking to add to the room.
Now that the vision was set, it was time to execute (lots of photos to follow)…
SPRING BEDROOM MAKEOVER
The day I finished pulling everything together my husband came home from work, headed to the bedroom and stopped in his tracks. He had no idea a spring refresh was in the works! I of course was right behind him and was excited when he said “wow, I love the room.”
Here’s how the room came together…
I used items I already had in this room along with a few new pieces I purchased and a few pieces that I made. I’ll be sharing the diy projects over the next couple of days so stay tuned.
Pillows are always a key component to any bedroom space and I love lots of pillows on the bed. I flanked the rose pillows with three black and white patterned pillows and a small green accent pillow. A pair of black and white pillowcases are the backdrop.
I kept the white lattice patterned quilt I purchased at HomeGoods and added a black duvet cover with white trim. I knew I wanted a black and white duvet set and not finding what I wanted in stores, I set out to make my own.
On my husband’s side of the bed I kept the wood nightstand and just changed out a few of the accessories.
On my side of the bed, I kept the black skirted table but updated it with a white ribbon trim detail. One of the things I wanted to do with this bedroom refresh was to add more layers and details like ribbon trim do just that.
The chrome lamps with black shades were purchased from HomeGoods a couple of years ago.
The wall next to the skirted table is where I hung the beautiful designs from MyLoveNotedesigns. I’ll be sharing a closer look at the artwork and Christina’s shop tomorrow.
DESIGN IS IN THE DETAILS
The black and white ottoman stayed at the foot of the bed and I placed a gold accent table next to it.
I was going to paint a thrift store table that I purchased but decided I wanted a gold garden stool. A stop by World Market yielded this outdoor stool and with a little spray paint, I turned it into a beautiful gold stool.
Isn’t the cutwork detail on the top just divine?
I have a little reading nook in one corner of the room and didn’t make any major changes other than a switch of pillows and adding my pink throw.
There you have it, our spring bedroom refresh. A mix of gold and silver, bold black and white, pops of color and a comfy spot to relax. As the artwork on the wall says…I LOVE the way the room turned out!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed checking out our refreshed space.

Shelley, you really are amazing, and I love reading your blog. Your bedroom is a dream, and embraces both the masculine and feminine side off life. This has been a challenge for me but thanks to your incredible style and taste, you have taught me to embrace color and texture. The room is absolutely divine, and so are you. Keep up the great work, and blessings to all you do!

Definitely has a beautiful spring feel to it.. It’s amazing how one pillow could inspire such a change. You blended the colors perfectly and yet kept it not too girly .. It’s good when they hubby takes notice and gives accolades.. I love the garden stool. .. Excellent choice

Okay I’m going to be long winded here because I want to express my feelings about several details in this refresh. First and formost I love, love it. The delicate touches of feminine pink like that vase of flowers, the pink pillow and sham. I love how you layered with several black and white patterns. The beautiful dainty tray on your bedside table. That drop dead stool you painted to look like a pricey piece. The mirrors behind the night stands… I’m stealing that idea. I could go on and on but you get my drift. Shelly magnificent refresh. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the wonderful comments Marsha and I’m so glad you loved the space. You can steal any of the ideas in the space and have fun decorating.
P.s. The mirror are from Kirklands and that dainty tray is a DIY using gold circle stickers.
