Oh Christmas Tree | Holiday Home Tour 2019

2019 ConfettiStyle Holiday Home Tour

Hi there friends!  In case you’ve been wondering, I’m still alive.  This year has been all kinds of crazy at our house so my blog posts have been sporadic at best.  However, I’m determined to end the year on a high note and am finally sharing my holiday decor with you.

To kick things off, today I’m sharing my Christmas tree decor and tomorrow I’ll be back to share my Christmas tablescape.  The holiday season is my favorite time of the year so I’m thrilled I was able to pull things together and get my home decorated. Yea for taking life one day at a time and getting things done!

If you’ve followed me during the last few holiday seasons, you know that I typically host a holiday blog hop called The Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour.  The tour has been going strong for 5 years but given all the shenanigans life has thrown my way, I decided not to host the tour this year.  Don’t fret, I’m planning to host the tour again in 2020 to bring you lost of holiday decor and magic.

So…with only 7 days until Santa arrives, I’m here to share my holiday home! Enjoy & Merry Christmas!

Gift Wrap Embellishments | Fun, Festive Touches

Gift Wrap Embellishments from ConfettiStyle

Yesterday I shared some tips for creating a holiday gift wrap theme and today I’m back to show you the fun ways I embellished my gifts.

I am always on the hunt for unique pieces to top my gifts with. This year my collection of goodies include vintage jewelry, a cardboard coaster, a tassel and hand-made bows.  Plus my favorite holly leaf craft embellishment, glittered leaves, a small picture frame and honeycomb balls.  All of these pieces I’ve picked up in bargain bins, found at craft stores or scored at Scott’s Antique Market.

I’ve been asked a lot about my process for wrapping gift and it’s pretty straight forward.  First I wrap all the boxes in paper and then comes the ribbon. Some boxes get a single ribbon and with others I layer the ribbon.  The final touch is adding  the perfect embellishment to each box.

Here’s a look at some of my wrapped gifts and the formula for each gift wrap combination.

I bought this silver ribbon from Costco a couple of years ago and just love it.

The mini bottle brush tree came from Target and the pom pom yarn is from Hobby Lobby. Yarn makes a great ribbon substitute.

For the gift below I made a simple paper band and hand-lettered the Mr. Confetti’s name on it.  Then I tucked a sprig of greenery under the band.  This is a simple and elegant way to embellish a gift without spending a lot of money.

The pink pom pom tassel is from Hobby Lobby and it comes in other colors.

I found this beautiful embroidered appliqué at an antique store a few months ago. I’m using it on a gift for my mom.  I attached it to the box top using small pieces of double-sided tape.

You can find this gorgeous floral wrapping paper here on Etsy. And the round gold embossed coasters are from Target.

Mini honeycomb balls can be found here. And I’ve also seen them at Michael’s.  You can make pom pom using this pom pom maker.

Silver glitter leaves are from The Ribbon Roll.

If wrapping boxes isn’t your thing, you can use these same ideas to embellish paper gift bags.  A few inexpensive accessories is all you need to create fun & festive holiday gifts.  Happy wrapping friends!

My Gift Wrap Theme | Christmas 2018

My 2018 Christmas Gift Wrap Theme by ConfettiStyle

Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments on my Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour post yesterday.  I’ve enjoyed sharing my holiday decor and giving your peek inside my home, all decorated for Christmas.

One of the things I love most about creating my Christmas theme is coming up with gift wrap to match my decor. Every year I pick wrapping paper and ribbon to coordinate with my tree, and I find fun embellishments to accent my gifts.  A beautifully wrapped gift is just part of the holiday gift giving process for me.

Several years ago I made a gift wrap crate and love using it during the holidays.  The crate holds all my wrapping supplies and is on wheels so I can roll it wherever I’m wrapping gifts.  I also love that everything is easily accessible for Mr. Confetti so his wrapped gifts don’t stray from my theme.

I use small tension rods to separate the paper rolls and boxes, and another one holds ribbon spools. Plastic cups are attached to each side of the crate and hold tags, embellishment, tape and scissors.  Everything I need to wrap gifts all in one place.

Here’s a look at some of the wrapping paper and ribbon I’m using this year along with a few tips on coordinating your gift wrap elements.

TIPS FOR COORDINATING YOUR HOLIDAY GIFT WRAP

  • Create a color theme for your gift wrap using one or all of the colors in your Christmas tree decor. My tree theme this year was blue and white with pops of green and pink so those are the colors in my wrapping paper.
  • Use a variety of designs and patterns to keep things fun and interesting.  Some years I will use a different paper for each member of the family which makes it easy to know who gets what gifts. It also eliminates the need for gift tags.
  • Don’t limit yourself to just traditional wrapping paper.  Wall paper, scrapbook paper, patterned drawer liners and paper table runners make great gift wrap too!

  • To save money, instead of Christmas themed paper, buy all-occasion patterns that fits your color theme.  Then             use gift tags and embellishments to give the gifts a Christmas touch.
  • Use ribbons in different materials and widths to make each wrapped gift unique.

Now that you know my insider tips for wrapping beautiful Christmas gifts, here’s a list of my favorite sources for wrapping paper and ribbon.

Oh Christmas Tree–Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour part 1

ConfettiStyle Christmas Tree--2016

I’m back today with another awesome blog hop.  It’s the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour that I host with my blogging buddy Kellie from Design Asylum.  This is the second year for the  tour and we have an amazing line-up of 12 bloggers taking you on a tour of their holiday homes. The Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour takes place over next three weeks with today being the first in the series. We’ll be sharing more holiday cheer on Dec. 7th and Dec. 14th so mark your calendars.

Enough with the details…let’s get this party started!

Today I’m showing you my Christmas tree as well as a couple of sneak peeks at some of the other holiday decor that you’ll see next week.

If you remember a few weeks back I shared the inspiration for my holiday decor.  It was this Poinsettia themed wrapping paper from Paper Mart.

Every year I change my tree decor and this year I decided to go with a theme that is perfect for the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour. The red, pink and green in the paper set the tone for my tree decor with a few additional colors thrown in to spice things up.  I’m calling my tree the Merry & Bright tree.

ConfettiStyle Christmas Tree--2016

During the day the bright colors make me smile and in the evening, all lit up the tree is just as beautiful.

ConfettiStyle Christmas Tree--2016

Since the background of my inspirational wrapping paper is black, I decided to use two different ribbons on the tree.  One is a black and white plaid and the other is a two-sided red and green satin.

ConfettiStyle Christmas Tree--2016

To keep things simple, I used only solid colored ornaments in different colors, sizes and finishes. And I layered the ornaments from the inside out to give the tree a full look.

I’d like to thank Paper Mart who graciously supplied some of the wrapping paper and ribbon featured in this post. As a designer and avid gift wrapper, Paper Mart is one of my go-to source for quality wrap ping paper and paper products. And I love sharing my favorite resources with you.  All images and opinions in this post are mine.

Gift Wrap Inspiration: Flowers and Denim

IMG_0373

Hello friends and Happy Monday!  Sorry for the last blog post today.  I had a morning meeting and then had to get a few things checked off the to-do list so I’m late getting this post out.  Anyway as the saying goes, ‘better late than never” so here I am with some gift wrap inspiration for you.

IMG_0371

Whenever I’m looking for a new idea to inspire a gift wrap project, I usually don’t have to look far.  The inspiration for this wrapping came from some flowers I spotted while on an evening walk recently and a denim shirt I had in my closet. This package is headed to a girlfriend and I just know she’s going to love the wrap.

IMG_0363

The box I used for this package is a two-piece box with separate lid and I wrapped each piece in the beautiful floral paper I picked up in the dollar ($1.50) section at #Michaels.  Then I added a denim heart, also from Michaels and adhered it with tape around the edges so it could serve as a pocket.

{p.s.  my local Michaels just restocked the dollar area and there are lots of really cute fall and Christmas items you should check out
{p.s.s.  the denim hearts are on clearance at 80% off and they have denim pockets too}
IMG_0364

The finishing touches are a pink gift tag with hand lettering and a silk bow and flower that are clipped onto the edge of the heart using a small clothespin.

Wrapping gifts is always fun but when you can create a beautiful box using just a few items and in less than 10 minutes it’s even better.

I hope you give this gift wrap idea a try.  If you can’t find denim pieces at your craft store, you can always cut up old clothing that is slated for the thrift store.

Happy wrapping!

Gift Wrap Inspiration: Washi Tape Ribbon

Washi Tape Gift Wrap by ConfettiStyle5

Over the weekend I shared a photo on Instagram of items I’m sending in a care package to a good friend.  As I do with all the gifts I give, I wanted to created a special wrap for the gift.

I looked through my wrapping paper stash but didn’t see anything I wanted to use so out came the washi tape and in no time flat I had my box wrapped.

I’ve professed my love of washi tape on the blog before but I have to tell you again, it is one of the best crafting supplies you can own.

The beauty of washi tape is that it can be used in so many different ways and it’s perfect for gift wrapping.  To keep things simple, I used the tape instead of ribbon and layered different patterns together to fancy up the box a bit.

I also made a cute gift tag accented with washi tape.  I folded lengths of washi tape together to create flags and then angle cut the ends.  Using double-sided tape, I attached the washi flags to the gift tap and finished it off with a silk flower.

Shelly

p.s.  the white gift box was part of a box set I purchased from Michael’s.  I love that the lids and bottom are separate and that the boxes are thick and sturdy.  There are 4 different size boxes in the set and they are on clearance right now at 70% off, so the set only cost me $2.99, less a 20% coupon I had.

Gift Wrap Inspiration: A New Way to Add Ribbon

 Gift Wrap Inspiration by ConfettiStyle4

It all started with a trip to The Container Store to pick up some shipping boxes…

Everytime I go into The Container Store I have something specific I’m planning to buy.  But that always changes once I’m inside the doors.  I get sucked in by all the beautiful containers, jars, boxes and wrapping, and my imagination starts to go wild.  It never fails that I come home with a few items that weren’t on the shopping list.
