Creative Ways to Decorate with Decanters

I’ve collected decanters for a while and love them as part of a bar vignette, serving up liquor for a classic cocktail.

But, I also love the idea of using decanters as part of your homes decor.  I am a big proponent of using items in unexpected ways and decanters fall into that group for me.  If you’ve never thought of decanters beyond liquor, I’ve rounded up some inspiring ideas on creative ways to use and decorate with decanters. I hope you’re inspired.

 Enjoy!

Put your decanters to work serving different flavors of lemonade at your next outdoor party!  I especially love this idea for a stylish wedding or baby shower!

Looking for a unique pendant light?  Have one or several decanters transformed into light fixtures.  A grouping of these would be great in a wine cellar or ever over a breakfast bar.

One of the home decor catalogs I worked for sold an enormous amount of small decanters like this, just for this purpose….to hold mouth wash. What a chic way to display an item you use everyday.

Decanters can be a beautiful addition to your decor so look for pieces with unique shapes and details.

One of my go-to sources for unusual decanters is Etsy.  Here are a few of my faves.

I come across vintage decanters missing their lids all the time when shopping flea markets and thrift stores.  These make the perfect little flower vase to decorate with.

And, this use of decanters has to be one of my all time favorites!  At your next breakfast or brunch gathering serve flavored syrups in beautiful petite decanters.

Finally, a couple of other creative ideas to leave you with…

*  Use a decanter to hold bath salts next to the tub

*  Add a little style to your kitchen by placing liquid dish soap in a decanter (this is something I do)

*  Retro fit a decanter with a pour spout (available from any kitchen store) and use several to hold olive oil and vinegar in the kitchen.

Do you collect decanters?  If not, are you inspired to add a few to your decor?
