Gift Wrap Inspiration: Floral Paper Wrapped Boxes

img_4361

I’m back with another Gift Wrap Inspiration post and this one is sure to go down as one of the easiest gift wrap ideas ever.

The idea was inspired by a box I spotted at HomeGoods.  It was a simple idea–a paper mache’ kraft box wrapped with pretty paper.  The minute I saw it, I recognized what a great concept it was for people who don’t like to wrap gifts, have a ton of gifts to wrap or need to wrap a gift in a hurry. Or in other words, it’s a wrapping project that anyone can do.

Here’s what you’ll need to recreate these pretty floral wrapped boxes…

1

Paper Mache Kraft Boxes come in a wide range of shapes and sizes and can be purchased at any of the big craft stores.  You’ll find the widest range of shapes from Amazon and they offer the best pricing is you are buying in bulk.  I’ve also spotted these boxes at Goodwill from time to time so be on the look out there too!

2

Next you’ll need wrapping paper.  Since I have somewhat of a paper obsession, I’m always looking for pretty paper when out shopping. The animal print floral and the black and white stripe paper came from Hobby Lobby (currently on sale for $2.00/pk of 6).  This paper is actually decoupage paper but the weight makes it suitable for wrapping gifts.  The other two floral papers are from Papyrus (similar here and here).

tip:  this is a great project to use those wrapping paper scraps you might have lying around

And of course a beautifully wrapped gift wouldn’t be complete without pretty ribbon.  If you’ve read my blog for a while, you know that MayArts is one of my go-to sources for ribbon.  They have hundreds of styles, patterns and materials to choose from so you’ll easily find the perfect ribbon for your gift wrapping projects.

fyi:  MayArts used to be a wholesale supplier only  but now anyone can purchase from their site

4

Now comes the easy part…measure, cut and wrap the bottom of each box with wrapping paper, using double-sided tape to secure the ends and edges.  To create the ribbon ties, tape two pieces of ribbon on opposite sides inside the lid of the box.  Place the lid on the box and tie a bow.

note: You can also cover the lids of the boxes like I did with one of my boxes.

Just think of all the paper and ribbon possibilities you have with this wrapping idea. And with the busy holiday season fast approaching, you’ll want to stock up on paper, ribbon and boxes now so you’ll have everything you’ll need for holiday gift giving.

Gift Wrap Inspiration: Coloring Book Pages

Coloring Book Page Gift Wrap

When it comes to finding unexpected items to wrap gifts with, nothing is off-limits in my book, not even coloring books.

After receiving The Inspired Room Coloring Book a few weeks ago, I knew immediately that I wanted to use some of the images as gift wrap.

The pages I choose had designs which reminded me of beautiful wrapping paper.  Here’s one of the pages before I colored it.

When selecting colors for the pages, I decided to use two of  my favorite color combos–red & hot pink and royal blue & green.  After the pages were colored I used them to wrap small cardboard gift mailers.  Gift mailers are a great alternative to a traditional box for wrapping small items.

And because I’m all about the details, I added small grommets to the egde where the paper overlapped. And then I added some cute tassels.  Aren’t these tassels the cutest things ever?  I followed Amber’s hula tassel tutorial which you can find here.

Hand coloring your gift wrap is definitely more time-consuming than using store bought paper but for  special gifts it’s  worth the time and effort.

Gift Wrap Inspiration: Flowers and Denim

IMG_0373

Hello friends and Happy Monday!  Sorry for the last blog post today.  I had a morning meeting and then had to get a few things checked off the to-do list so I’m late getting this post out.  Anyway as the saying goes, ‘better late than never” so here I am with some gift wrap inspiration for you.

Whenever I’m looking for a new idea to inspire a gift wrap project, I usually don’t have to look far.  The inspiration for this wrapping came from some flowers I spotted while on an evening walk recently and a denim shirt I had in my closet. This package is headed to a girlfriend and I just know she’s going to love the wrap.

The box I used for this package is a two-piece box with separate lid and I wrapped each piece in the beautiful floral paper I picked up in the dollar ($1.50) section at #Michaels.  Then I added a denim heart, also from Michaels and adhered it with tape around the edges so it could serve as a pocket.

{p.s.  my local Michaels just restocked the dollar area and there are lots of really cute fall and Christmas items you should check out
{p.s.s.  the denim hearts are on clearance at 80% off and they have denim pockets too}

The finishing touches are a pink gift tag with hand lettering and a silk bow and flower that are clipped onto the edge of the heart using a small clothespin.

Wrapping gifts is always fun but when you can create a beautiful box using just a few items and in less than 10 minutes it’s even better.

I hope you give this gift wrap idea a try.  If you can’t find denim pieces at your craft store, you can always cut up old clothing that is slated for the thrift store.

Happy wrapping!

Gift Wrap Inspiration: A New Way to Add Ribbon

 Gift Wrap Inspiration by ConfettiStyle4

It all started with a trip to The Container Store to pick up some shipping boxes…

Everytime I go into The Container Store I have something specific I’m planning to buy.  But that always changes once I’m inside the doors.  I get sucked in by all the beautiful containers, jars, boxes and wrapping, and my imagination starts to go wild.  It never fails that I come home with a few items that weren’t on the shopping list.
