I’m a Crafter at Heart {and I’m living my passions}
Happy Friday!
Those of you that follow along on my blog my or may not know that I have a vast professional background. As a little girl I was totally in love with fashion and knew that I wanted to do something in that field as a profession. After winning the title of best dressed in high school and getting a fashion and interior design degree from college I took my first job as a department manager for a regional department store in Seattle. I quickly made my way to the position of assistant buyer where I bought jewelry and fashion accessories.
The bulk of my fashion career was spent at Eddie Bauer. I started as an assistant buyer in women’s and over the course of 11 years I the buyer for various product categories and eventually the general merchandise manager for the non-apparel products for both the catalog and retail division of the company (Gear, Luggage, Footwear, Accessories, Watches, Sunglasses etc).
After leaving Eddie Bauer and moving to Atlanta, I tapped into one of my other loves, interior design. For 8 years I owned and operated my own home decor and gift store and after closing it in 2011, I opened my boutique interior design business which is what I do now. Throughout my retail, fashion and interior design career I’ve also had a side passion that’s kept me busy…Crafting! Just like fashion and design, crafting is part of my DNA and I love to create things. Over the years I’d crafted in every medium you can think of but there is one area that I have a slight obsession with, rubber stamping!
I am an admitted rubber stamp addict {as represented by the more than 1000 rubber stamps I own} and am really excited about a new opportunity that has come my way.
I was recently contacted by a rubber stamp manufacturer here in Georgia to create rubber stamp projects using their stamps. Craffiti Direct is in the initial stage of launching their own rubber stamp line and are building their line-up of stamp artist. One of the missions of the company is to give their customers with creative ideas for using their stamps, beyond scrapbooking and traditional card making. That’s where I come in.
The Floral Background stamp designed by Elena Guzinska
I’ll be creating unique projects for them that show people different ways they can use rubber stamps. It’s such fun to combine gift wrapping, holiday decorating, decor and my love of paper with rubber stamps.
Here’s a look at a few projects I’ve created so far…
A fun holiday ornament
Stamped Ribbon
Cards
And gift tags!
If you like to craft with rubber stamps, I hope I’ll inspire you in new ways. if you’ve never tried stamping before I hope I can encourage you to give it a try. Either way I’ll be sharing the projects I create for Craffiti here on the blog.
I’m so grateful that throughout my life I’ve been able to live my passions and I’m so glad you stop by the blog every day and let me share them with you. Thank You!

A Party: Inspired by GOLD
I love creating party themes and this time around I’m inspired by the color GOLD! What I love about a party theme based on color is there are so many items you can buy to create your look or if you’re the crafty type you can pull out a can of spray paint and the hot-glue gun and go the DIY route.
The ingredients:
Gold Paper Lanterns—Party City DIY version: Spray paint white paper lanterns gold. Gold Flatware—West Elm DIY version: Buy some flatware at the thrift store and paint the handles gold. Here’s a how-to! {tip: a coat of polyurethane will make the silverware suitable for hand washing} Paramount Dinnerware—Z Gallerie DIY version: Spray the underside of clear glass plates to get this look. Gold Chevron Wrapping Paper— (used as a table runner)–Paper Source DIY version: Cover dollar store white shipping paper with Gold Chevron Washi Tape. Gold Stripe Stemware—Bed, Bath & Beyond DIY version: Here’s an easy tutorial on painting stripes on glass. Dollar Store wine goblets of course! Spike Napkin Ring—Z Gallerie DIY version: Cut a small Styrofoam fall in half, insert toothpicks and spray the entire piece gold. Glue to elastic hair bands to create your napkin ring. Gold Mirrored Tray—World Market DIY version: Pick up a plastic tray from the thrift store and spray it gold! Gold Leaf Gift Box—World Market DIY version: Wrap a plain gift box from the Container Store in decorative gold and white wrapping paper. Paper Source has lots of paper options. If you want a super glam look for your party, this project is a fabulous way to create a gold sequin backdrop for your event.
{hint: Gold Labels from Staples would also work}
Don’t wait for a special occasion, any day is a great day to celebrate with gold!
Gift Wrap Inspiration: Easy Monogram Ribbon
I love a gift wrap idea that’s easy to execute and results in a stylish gift. I’ve worked a lot with monograms lately on design projects and in my home, and that got me thinking about an easy and simple way to tie monograms in with gift wrapping. The idea was easy to come up with and the execution is even easier.
If you’ve been in a craft store lately you know that there are all types of alphabet stickers you can choose from. For a kid’s gift use stickers that are colorful like crayons, for a men’s gift go with a more block type front and if your gift is going to a woman go with stickers that are more feminine and scrolled.
I hope this inspires you to take a visit to the craft store and get creative with your gift wrapping using stickers.
Do you love gift wrapping and think you have creative wrapping skills that could win a contest? If so, I want to urge you to enter the 2013 Scotch Most Gifted Wrapper Contest. The grand prize is $10,000 and being a contestant is an experience of a lifetime. I was blessed to have been selected as a finalist in the 2012 contest and came in second place which was a thrill. Besides winning a trip to New York and being treated fabulously by Scotch, I also met some incredible women in my co-contestants and have been inspired by them ever since. Let’s Get Crafty: Marbleized Gift Tags
The other day I was cleaning out under the bathroom sink and realized I had a hoard of nail polish. While I mostly wear red and pink polish I found a couple of unique colors in my stash. Colors that would be perfect for making Marbleized Gift Tags which have been on my crafting to-do list for months.
Supplies: * fingernail polish – in a mix of colors * metal pie tin (from the dollar store) * old cookie sheet * water * blank gift tags * wood skewer or toothpick *nail polish remover – for clean upWork in a well ventilated area or you’ll be feeling as swirly as your gift tags when you’re done.
Fill the pie pan with 1/4″ to 1/2″ of water.
Begin dropping the polish into the water but work fast as the nail polish tends to solidify rather quickly.
Mix the nail polish colors together using your tooth pick. The mix doesn’t look pretty at this point but the end result will be different.
Instead of swirling the colors together you can also pull the colors in a line pattern to keep the colors a bit more separated.
Once your colors are mixed, lightly place your gift tag on to the surface of the water. Don’t submerge the tag. The polish will adhere to the tag.
Once you’ve dipped your tags lay them flat on your cookie sheet to dry.
You’ll get a different pattern and color combination with every gift tag and the fun will last for hours 🙂
Ta da…
Didn’t I tell you the result would be great?!
I’m headed to store today to pick up some more nail polish to make more of these beautiful tags. I’ll have some for sale in my Ruffles and Remnants Etsy shop soon.
Happy Crafting!
Gift Wrap Inspiration: Red, White and Blue
Happy Monday and happy 4th of July week.
Sorry I was MIA the end of last week. I was a busy bee and blogging just had to take a back seat for a moment. Today I’m back, rested and full of new inspiration!
Since this is a short week and most everyone I know is looking forward to the fun and festivities on the 4th of July, I thought this week on ConfettiStyle would be all about crafting and DIY projects. I’ve been busy painting, decorating and getting crafty so check in daily to see what I’ve been up to.
Today it’s my latest gift wrap inspiration, inspired by the 4th of July.
I love to gift wrap and when glitter and sparkles are involved it’s even more fun. The 4th of July is a big deal for those of us that live here in the US and the symbolic colors of the 4th inspired these fun gifts.
Since the boxes I was wrapping were small, I decided to use 12″ x 12″ scrap-book paper as the wrapping instead of traditional gift wrap. There are so many more design options available in scrapbook paper so finding a fun combination of red, white and blue patterns was easy.
I wrapped each of the boxes in a different paper and used contrasting red, white and blue ribbons on top. I purchased all of my ribbon from Grosgrain Annie’s Ribbon Emporium at the Lakewood 400 Antiques show. Joanne has a great selection of unique ribbons and one of the best velvet ribbon collections I’ve come across.
To give my gifts and little extra something, I layered the ribbons and then added some fun embellishments on top.
Isn’t this red diamond ribbon fun? The diamond pattern reminds me of stars so it worked great with my 4th of July theme. To created the fullness in the bow I cut several strips of ribbon and tied multiple single bows together.
The red shimmer pom poms I had left over from a Christmas project looked great on this package.
The red and white damask paper looked great with this wide ribbon which I wrapped around the box to create a wide band. Then I added a few glitter stars and glued a white button to the center of the red star. Very festive!
For this last gift I wanted to create a DIY sparkler topper. All it took was a few Lollipop sticks and more shimmer pom poms. Layered stars finish off the top of the gift.
Wrapping these gifts have definitely put me in the mood for a hot dogs, fireworks and a fabulous 4th of July!
See you back here tomorrow for more DIY fun.
My 101 Series on Facebook
One the main reasons I started writing my blog was to share my love of “teaching” with others. By teaching I mean sharing my years of experience, the tips, tricks, ideas and inspiration that I come across, surround myself with and use when working with design clients, decorating my home or creating DIY and craft projects. While I have the opportunity to teach design classes here in Atlanta, I can’t always share my ideas with those of you far away….until now. Starting next week on the ConfettiStyle Interiors Facebook Page I’ll be sharing all those tips, tricks, ideas and inspiration in a new Facebook Only series I’m starting called…
Series 101
The series will focus on Interior Design, Entertaining, Fashion and Gifting, all the things I’m passionate about.
Think of this as a big book tips for living a stylish life!

Gift Wrap Inspiration: Pinwheel Gift Topper
Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I’ve got a quick and simple Gift Wrap Inspiration that is perfect for adding a little fun to mom’s gift!
It’s no secret that I love paper products and one of my favorite crafts to make are paper pinwheels. When thinking about how I wanted to wrap my Mother’s Day gifts, I thought a Paper Pinwheel Topper would be a fun and whimsical touch.
Here’s how to do it…
How to:
Select a decorative paper with a pattern on both sides. Cut your paper in a perfect square–the bigger your square, the bigger your pinwheel will be.
Draw a light pencil line from corner to corner, intersecting at the middle of the square.
Using scissors, cut along each line towards the center, stopping about 1/4″ from the center point. You’ll have 4 triangular pieces attached at the center of your square.
Starting with one corner tip, fold it into the center, securing it with a dab of hot glue.
Take the right tip of the next triangle section and fold it to the center and secure with glue. Do the same with the remaining triangle pieces, creating your pinwheel.
Add a decorative button or brad to the center of the pinwheel to finish it off.
After making my pinwheels, I wrapped my boxes in polka dot craft paper. I added ribbon bands in colors to match my pinwheel and secured my pinwheels as bows on the top of each gift.
All in all, it took me about 30 minutes to make my pinwheels and wrap my gifts. Simple, easy and festive, just how I like my gift wrapping!
