Since I love gift wrapping so much, I’m always looking for ideas and inspiration to use on my next gift.  Lately I’ve been drawn to beautifully decorated cakes, decorated with flowers and bands of icing.  My creative mind looks beyond the fact that these works of art are cake and focuses on how I can adapt the design into gift wrapping.

When you think about it, a cake is very similar to a wrapped gift because it is usually a square, rectangular or round shaped adorned with embellishments.  Just like a present.

Gift Wrap Inspiration–DIY Flower Bouquet

Hi there! I hope you’re having a good day. The sun is shining again today here in Atlanta and that makes it a great day in my book. As promised,  I’m back today to share an easy Gift Wrap Inspiration for you, perfect for Mother’s Day.

Flower Bouquet 2

I always take extra care when it comes to wrapping a gift for my mom.  She’s one special woman and deserves a special gift wrap.  For her mother’s day gift this year I decided to craft a flower bouquet for the outside of the box.

Here’s how I did it.

Once the box was wrapped in a black and white check paper (from TJMaxx), I added a band of pink striped grosgrain ribbon.

Next I folded the left and right edges of a paper lace dollie towards the center of the dollie to create the shape of a cone.

I taped the dollie on top of the ribbon and paper and used glue dots to attach an assortment of paper flowers.  The pink roses, yellow flowers and pink and yellow tiny flowers came in a cluster on stems so I simply inserted those into the cone and added tape behind to hold them into place.

The last step was a pretty pink bow and a gift tag.

Since I can’t give my mom flowers in person, her flower bouquet wrapped gift will do the trick.

Outside the holiday season, the spring and early summer months are prime gift giving times with graduations, weddings, mother’s day, father’s day and many of my friends and family’s birthdays taking place during these months.  Shopping at the last-minute for gifts is not something I like to do so I tend to keep a stash of essential gifts on hand in my gift closet.  These are items that have universal appeal and items that can easily be paired with another piece if the occasion calls for a little something more.  Here’s a look at the items I like to gift most and always keep in my gift closet.

Eat, Drink and Be Merry Gift Bag

It’s the holiday season and that means gift giving time.  One of my go-to gift wrapping supplies during the busy holiday season is gift bags.  I usually don’t but the pre-decorated bags but instead opt to decorate my own to create something unique and special for my family or friends.

Gift bags + Craffiti Direct Stamps = Stylish Holiday Gift Packaging

To create this gift bag I started with a simply brown Kraft bag.  I love the look of Kraft paper with traditional Christmas colors.

I then used my circle cutter to cut 4″ dia circles from red tartan plaid paper and white card stock.

Next I used one of the Yes Chef stamps designed by Jennifer Garant and stamped the chef on wheels in the center of my white cardstock circle. I then added some color to the design using Prima Markers and hand scripted the Eat, Drink and Be Merry message along the bottom.  A classic red and white diamond print ribbon finishes off the circle.

The last step was layering the plaid and stamped circles onto the front of the gift bag and adding a red pom-pom as my bow.

This fun gift bag is being filled with libations and treats and I know the person receiving this will definitely Eat, Drink & Be Merry!

If  you’re doing any holiday crafting this season, check of the full line of Craffiti Direct Stamps There are so many wonderful designs to choose from and right now they are running a 25% off sale on all stamps.

I’m using one of these stamps to make some of my holiday gift tags and this stamp to make some New Years party invites.  I’ll share those projects with you next week.

I was sent the stamps by Craffiti Direct for use in creating these projects.  All designs were by ConfettiStyle.

Gift Wrap Inspiration: Pinwheel Gift Topper

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I’ve got a quick and simple Gift Wrap Inspiration that is perfect for adding a little fun to mom’s gift!
Slide1 copy
It’s no secret that I love paper products and one of my favorite crafts to make are paper pinwheels.  When thinking about how I wanted to wrap my Mother’s Day gifts,  I thought a Paper Pinwheel Topper would be a fun and whimsical touch.
Here’s how to do it…

Slide1

How to:

Select a decorative paper with a pattern on both sides.  Cut your paper in a perfect square–the bigger your square, the bigger your pinwheel will be.
Draw a light pencil line from corner to corner, intersecting at the middle of the square.
Using scissors, cut along each line towards the center, stopping about 1/4″ from the center point.  You’ll have 4 triangular pieces attached at the center of your square.
Starting with one corner tip, fold it into the center, securing it with a dab of hot glue.
Take the right tip of the next triangle section and fold it to the center and secure with glue.  Do the same with the remaining triangle pieces, creating your pinwheel.

Slide2

Add a decorative button or brad to the center of the pinwheel to finish it off.
After making my pinwheels, I wrapped my boxes in polka dot craft paper.  I added ribbon bands in colors to match my pinwheel and secured my pinwheels as bows on the top of each gift.
