Here in Atlanta, I think our string of hot days is over and cooler fall weather is here to stay. This has prompted me to get busy and complete my summer to fall closet transition.
Every year as I begin to remove the summer items from my closet, I challenge myself to think about ways I might we able to wear each piece of clothing into the new season so I can maximize my investment. There are some pieces of clothing where the fabric, pattern or color just won’t work in cooler weather but for others there is hope.

I was once a purist when it came to pumpkins and would only decorate with orange ones. Over the last few years I’ve fallen in love with whites and green pumpkins and the sophisticated feel they can add to your decor.
I know like most of America you are probably busy decorating with pumpkins inside your home.

Writing this blog is somewhat like talking a a girlfriend or guy friend on a daily basis and dishing about all the stuff that is going on in my life. It’s my place to share the new shopping spots I’ve found, a great bargain I’ve come across or a new restaurant I want you to try.

So, which of these celebrity spaces is your favorite?
Sometimes an image can stop you in your tracks not because it is a space with lots of design details and color, but because what makes it beautiful are the simple details and simplicity.
Design Tip: Never, Ever, Ever pass up a beautiful picture frame when antiquing or thrifting. There are so many other great ways to use a picture frame beyond framing a photo.
My mother was a school teacher for 27 years and every summer, a couple of weeks before school started, I’d go to the classroom to help her decorate the bulletin boards. I loved going to her classroom and getting it ready for the first day of school and always love to write on the chalkboard and look at the old school map that hung on one wall. The map seemed larger than life and I remember loving how it was hung, from two wood rods and a rope.
The other day I came across a piece of wall art that was hung in a similar way and it brought back memories. I decided I needed my own version of vintage school map style artwork in my home and so I created one. Instead of using an image for my art piece, I decided to create a wall quote instead.
To create this piece I headed to Hobby Lobby and picked up two pieces of their 36″ x 1″ x 1/4″ pine wood pieces and a 11″ x 14″ canvas.
Once home I cut the wood pieces in half so that I’d have four 18″ long pieces and then stained them with Minwax stain sheets.
Next I cut the canvas off of the frame so that I’d have a loose piece of canvas. To create a clean edge, I measured 1/2″ in on each side of my canvas, folded the edge under and secured it with stitch witchery.
Then I got busy hand lettering my quote using a Sharpie…Always Believe That Something Wonderful Is About To Happen!
Once I was done hand-lettering I glued the top and bottom edge of the canvas between two pieces of wood.
The piece now hangs as part of an eclectic gallery wall arrangement.
I love how this project turned out and the memories that it reminds me of.
I read a lot of design blogs and follow many bloggers on instagram and pinterest and I know that all of them, along with me, are in the midst transitioning their home decor from summer to fall.
When it comes to decorating for fall, I often accessorize tabletops and my dining table with natural elements like leaves and pinecones and I usually decorate my front door with a fall arrangement. But, mother nature is not my favorite design element when decorating for fall. It’s faux fur!
