Creative Ways to Accent Your Dining Table with Napkins

When it comes to setting your table for a special occasion or holiday celebration, it’s the little touches that you do with your tablescape that really make it stand out.

Little touches like incorporating your dinner napkins into your tablescape in an unexpected and unique way….

I love the idea of placing the dinner napkins on the backs of the chairs.  Monogrammed or embroidered dinner napkins are perfect for this and will add an element of style to the tablescape.

A colorful dinner napkin is all it takes to make a table come to life.  When using clear plates, a dinner napkin place under the plates will provide the perfect visual impact.

I love the triangular tail of this dinner napkin over the plate.  The point breaks provides contrast to all the circular elements on the table.

A bow tie fold is such a fun look for a ladies lunch, bridal shower or elegant dinner party.  You can accent the center of the napkin with just about anything depending on your party theme.

Let your napkins do double duty by creating a pocket in the fold and tucking the menu card inside.  A simple iron on number transfer serves as the place marker.

This is one of my favorite looks and is the perfect accent to square dinner plates.  Layering is the key to a dynamic table and the napkin enhances it all.

And if you’re into napkin folding, how about a whimsical touch for a spring brunch or easter dinner!

I’m in the midst of pulling together my fall tablescape and I’m inspired to try something new with my dinner napkins.  Stay tuned for the results!

What is on your LOVE LIST these days?

On the Hunt for Stylish Bookends!

Have you ever though that stylish bookends are hard to find?  Well, I’ve rounded up a few great choices that just might change your mind.

I love this Crystal Finial/Bookend from Restyled Creations via Etsy.  Not only would that make a stylish bookend but it’s also a great tabletop accent!

A fun take on an animal themed bookend.  These Orange Lion Bookends would look great on a white bookcase!

These Retro Owl Bookends had me at hello.  I’m going through a bit of an OWL obsession at the moment so I couldn’t overlook these.

I love an easy upcycled vintage project.  Not only are these Old School Metal Bookends practical, they just became stylish with a coat of paint and a stenciled number.

This is one of the most innovative bookends I’ve come across.  The Wood Alphabet Bookend and a statement piece and a work of art.

If you’re looking for something a bit more unexpected, how about these Linen Bookends/Shelf Pillows with a silhouette image.  Fun and chic!

These High Five Bookends are great for a mans office or boys room. They’d also be pretty cool if you happen to have a where you make things by hand!

A nod to Parisian style.  These SpiSani Poodle Bookends are pretty stylish with their acrylic base and posh puppy!

One of my personal favorites.. LOVE Bookends!

And for a bit of a whimsical touch, how about these Bracket Bookends.  Love the color and love that they truly are unique!

Now that you have some great bookend options, how about a little inspiration on how to use bookends and other decorative pieces in your bookcase displays!

Inspiration from a Design and Fashion Idol

While I’ve spent a little time recouping from my surgery, I’ve had a chance to watch all the shows I had recorded on my DVR.  Amongst the long list of Oprah shows, Dance Moms (guilty pleasure) and Housewives of NYC were all the episodes of Sarah’s House with none other than on of my design idols Sarah Richardson.  I don’t know if you had a chance to watch but this series was noting short of fabulous.  Sarah and her charming side kick Tommy design the most stunning and livable rooms ever.  I love Sarah’s esthetic, her use of color and how she

Here are my favorite looks from this season of Sarah’s House.

The softness of this room gives off such a relaxing feel.  Although it’s a tad on the formal side it looks very approachable.

Great pattern mixing! And that coffee table looks like a fun DIY project.

This cute little work space has lots of character!

The black cabinet really helps to add depth to this space and the artwork collage helps the TV to blend in.

The white wall ( created with moulding and paint) is a brilliant way to create a focal point and frame out the bed/headboard.

This kitchen and eating area is just amazing. And check out the stained table base with the painted wood top and painted chairs.  So fresh!

Every kitchen need a mini frig/wine cooler.  Love the tiered layout of the island, making each work are distinct.

 Pretty and quaint!

This is an awesome craft space!  Love the paint treatment on the ceiling and all the organizational elements from IKEA!

My next sofa purchase will be grey!  I so love this color palette!

Room of The Week: Eclectic Style

Pinned Image

Definition of ECLECTIC

1: selecting what appears to be best in various doctrines, methods, or styles
2 : composed of elements drawn from various sources; also : heterogeneous

My personal style is eclectic and I love nothing more than mixing styles, finishes, colors and textures to create a space that feels as if it came from the soul versus from an established design style.
This bedroom is a perfect example of eclectic style with its mixed wood finishes, all relatable but yet unique and independent.
The mix of old world styling, classic details and traditional touches help to create a space that feels collected and curated.

Spaces that feel personal and effortless like this one, are what I love most!

Split Personality

I’ve written about my love of chairs on many occasions and think every home needs a “happy” chair, one that if playful and distinct in its style, one with a bit of a split personality.

One of my favorite ways to achieve a “happy chair” look is with pattern mixing.  I love the look for chairs that have one pattern on the front and a different pattern on the sides or back.  The more pattern mixing the better!

 Here are few inspiring looks…

I love these wingback chairs and the playful mix of fabrics used to give them their distinct style.

When pattern mixing don’t be afraid to mix leather with cotton fabrics….the contrast can be stunning.

If you’ve got painting skills, try hand painting a design onto your chair.

Obsession: TASSELS

My love affair with tassels has gone on for years.  I started collecting and decorating with tassels about 12 years ago, I named my home decor store The Scarlet Tassel and I’m in the process of creating a tassel collection to carry in my Etsy shop.

Tassels are a beautiful thing!
