The rough and refined elegance of Ralph Lauren’s style never goes out of style.
This vignette is one of my favorites with just enough old world charm to give it character and the right amount of refinement to make it elegant!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. While I did manage to get in a little R & R, a majority of my weekend was spent working on client design projects, shopping for chairs for a client, preparing Etsy orders for shipping and getting ready for a busy week ahead!
I thought I’d drop in today and give you a little insight into one of the most noteworthy design trends on store shelves right now… Modern Tribal. While this look isn’t for everyone, the tribal trend is a sure-fire way to punch up a room design or your summer wardrobe for that matter. It’s bold, dynamic, colorful, artistic and organic.
Tribal design influence can encompass an entire room or just be a small statement that makes a big impact.
Here are just a few of my favorite tribal looks!
Such a great way to dress up a simple black maxi dress!

You can never go wrong by adding a black and white touch to a room, especially when it’s a graphic and bold pattern like that blanket.

I love the organic, somewhat abstract design of this tribal inspired wallpaper.

Tribal patterns are often symmetrical in nature, unstructured in design and bold in color.

Rugs are a great way to make an impact with the tribal look. A white background helps keep the pattern from overwhelming!

I’m loving the look of natural bone jewelry… the bolder the better!

Even a tribal designed pillow or two can make a big impact in a space.

Mixed with modern and classic elements, tribal touches make a room feel comfortable and relaxed.

Often times trial design looks best in multiples!
So, with all the design trends out there right now, is Modern Tribal a winner or loser for you?
Today I’m excited to have Jessica from Arcadian Lighting for a guest post. Jessica is sharing some fabulous inspiration on combining silver and gold into your decor. Years ago I was not a big fan of combining these colors/finishes but over the years I’ve come to love and appreciate how the combination of silver and gold can elevate the style and design of a space.
Enjoy!

Hello! I’m Jessica, from Arcadian Lighting, a wonderful online source for beautiful and affordable lighting fixtures in all styles and sizes! I’m delighted to be a guest on Confetti Style today because I’d like to share a collection of inspiring interiors that feature a combination of brilliant silver and gold accents in chandeliers and more.
Thank you for having me as your guest today, Shelly! I hope you enjoy!
The lovely all-white color palette of this bedroom is the perfect canvas for sparkling silver and gold accents. The petite ornaments make such beautiful accents.
The brilliant mix of silver and gold in this dining room creates a wonderful atmosphere for an elegant and exciting diner party. The opulent chandelier is simply stunning.
The geometric metallic silver and gold paint adds a unique, contemporary twist to this dining room. The retro dining table and chairs are a great contrast.
The glittering, reflective surfaces throughout this modern dining room enhance the beauty of so many chic silver and gold accents. I love the simple shape of the golden table lamp.
An eclectic mix of styles and textures make this living room stylish and energetic. Ornate gold and silver accents add a regal touch.
Silver and gold can be used in a more casual style, as in this lovely yellow bedroom. The yellow flowers and contemporary lamp really brighten the metallic accents.
The silvery gold quality of the side table in this entry way show how a beautiful paint color can transform a simple piece of furniture. The silver stenciled wall is beautiful against the gilded mirror.
Rich golden accents against a silvery wallpaper adds a classy touch to this quirky, cozy bedroom. The floral patterned pillows and soft blue color go beautifully with the metallic tones.
Which of these interiors is your favorite?

While it’s fun to decorate the main living areas of someones home, I really enjoy decorating those often neglected areas such as bathrooms. I love challenging my creativity to add style and function to a bathroom and most of all I love turning a bathroom into a space with style!
When it comes to decorating a bathroom I use many of the same design techniques as I do with decorating a living room or home office. I use color as the foundation of the space; I accessorize with items that will add personality to the space; I use texture and pattern to add visual interest and I make sure the space has a point of view and design theme.
If you’re challenged with what to do with your bathroom, follow my design tips to get your bathroom looking great!
When it comes to decorating a bathroom vanity, think of it in the same way you would the top of a console table or side table.
Decorate with glass jars and decorative containers that will allow you to keep daily use items close at hand and then arrange them in a stylish way. A beautiful tray in silver or glass is ideal for holding glass jar, perfume or pill boxes.
Use jars in different heights to add visual interest and add a plant or small floral arrangement for softness.
Also, make sure to use hand soap that comes in a pretty bottle or transfer it to a decorative dispenser which you can find at HomeGoods, TJMaxx or Marshals.
Little things like decorative soaps, a crystal chandelier, flowers or hand towels are all a great way to add style to your bathroom.
A majority of bathrooms lack adequate storage space. Look around your bathroom and see where you can add open shelving that allows you to display pretties and functional items.
Paint the shelves to add a little color and use decorative brackets for added style.
I love using baskets for storage in the bathroom, both wire and wicker.
This image is a great example of how storage and accessories can be added to a bathroom. The space over the toilet is often left empty and is ideal for open shelving.
Use your open shelving to display artwork in addition to bathroom essentials.
Nine times out of ten, the back of the commode is left unattended. Adding a decorative touch to this area goes a long way in adding style to your bathroom.
Use a tray to hold toiletries, extra tissue rolls or room spray and make sure to add rubber bumpers to the bottom of the tray so it won’t slide around.
Decorative shower curtains are a quick and easy way to style your bathroom.
I love this look where two panels are used instead of a single, creating a frame for the tub.
If you can’t find a shower curtain you love, use drapery panels instead.
A clear liner can be added behind the panels to keep them dry and just like curtains in your home, hang your shower curtain as high as possible to give the bathroom visual height.
Here’s a great tutorial from SAS Interiors on turning a curtain panel into a shower curtain.
Don’t forget the tub surround.
The ledge of the tub is a great place to display decorative elements that will enhance your bathing experience and add ambience to your bathroom.
Paint is always the easiest and cheapest way to change the look and feel of a space, even bathrooms.
Add color to your walls….
or be bold and add color to your floors!
Rugs are necessary in a bathroom so why not use one that is decorative and exciting
Opt for one larger rug if possible instead of a bunch of smaller rugs scattered around the room.
If space allows, go bold and add a piece of furniture to your bathroom space. Painted furniture will hold up fine in most bathrooms but if your bathroom doesn’t have a great exhaust system, use outdoor paint which will hold up to in humidity and moisture.
Nothing drowns out the style of a bathroom more than a standard grade bathroom fixture. Opt for a crystal chandelier or something with color and whimsy to bring your bathroom to life.
Bathrooms are a great place to be a bit adventurous.
Use hooks in a creative way, up cycle vintage pieces and make your storage a central part of your bathroom decor.
I love this application of baskets hung on metal towel rods!

When it comes to decorating and spending money to do so, there is one furniture piece that I think is worth its weight in gold….The Stool.
Stools or Footstools can be used in so many ways….
An accent piece of furniture
A side table alternative
A great filler under console tables
An unexpected book shelf
Coffee Table Substitute
A unique buffet serving piece

Come in so many styles….
And is the perfect piece when your room needs that finishing touch!
Now that I’ve got you rethinking the many uses of stools, here are a few of my favorite stools of the moment!

Footstools….the 8th wonder of the world???
There’s a COLOR TREND I’m seeing more and more of around blogland and in magazines and although it is not something I think I’d incorporate into my home, I’m finding the trend of BLACK WALLS to be quite stunning and stylish!
I love the look of black on a wall with lots of trim detail. So regal!
The thick white moldings and ceiling alcove offset against these black walls is so dramatic. Only in rooms with super high ceilings and abundant light does a black ceiling work.
I’m really digging the bold furniture against these black walls. The color keeps the room for feeling like a cave.
High gloss black walls surround white built-ins…So chic!
If you can’t take the leap to black walls, think about black crown and floor molding. Black high and low really frames this space and adds dramatic design detail. And, the black mirror is the perfect element to tie it all together.
Love black around the window, especially in rooms with lots of white!
Another great example of how black can be use to enhance the structural details of a space and help define the style esthetic of a home!
So, what do you think of the idea of black walls? Yeah or Nay?
