My favorite chair style at the moment is the Spool Chair. Spool furniture dates back to the 18th century with small tables and stool being the first design crafted in this style. Spool furniture is making comeback today with this iconic chair becoming a in-demand design item.
When it comes to shopping for spool chairs, there are several great sources with pricing ranging from very affordable to pretty expensive. I’ve done some online shopping and rounded up what I think are the best sources for high-quality, affordable Spool Chairs.
SHOPPING FOR SPOOL CHAIRS
♦♦♦
No. 1–Ballard Designs
The Shiloh Spool Chair from Ballard Designs is the most expensive option I’ve found. The upside is that you have lots of fabrics and 5 finish options to select from so you can really customize this chair to fit your design needs. Pricing starts at $1099 and goes up from their based on the fabric and finish your select. And they have free swatches available to order although you will pay a shipping charge.
No. 2–Wayfair
This is a very affordable option produced by Birch Lane. The Henderson Armchair is available in a variety of pattern and solid fabric options and there are two finish colors to choose from–white and walnut. Pricing ranges from $391.99 to around $550 for the most expensive fabric and finish option I found. A big positive is that Wayfair has free fabric swatches available to order so you can see the fabric before your order.
No. 3–Joss & Main
I found another affordable option at Joss and Main. The Balalan Spindle chair is a traditional spool chair design and is priced at just $349.99. This chair is only available in this black/brown espresso color finish and grey fabric as shown.
No.4 –Z Gallerie
If you’re looking for a white finish, Z Gallerie sells a Spool Chair priced at $599. The fabric is a natural colored rayon and linen blend which makes it perfect for cottage, farm-house or beach decor.
No. 5–Pottery Barn
The Loralie Upholstered Armchair is a custom order piece from Pottery Barn so it can take 6 to 8 weeks to receive once order. And the sale is final so there are not returns or exchanges.. Pricing starts at $699 and can go over $1000 based on the fabric you select. The only finish option is a stained walnut which is a classic finish for this chair style. One of my favorite fabric options available form PB is this black and white buffalo check.
When I shared my living room design plan a few weeks ago I had a spool chair as part of my plans. The hubby is not sure about this choice so we’ll hitting up a few stores so he can test our the design. Hopefully he’ll fall in love with this chair design like I have. Stay tuned…
