Unique Christmas Decor Finds To Make Your Decor Extra Special

Happy November friends!  Can you believe that there are only two months left in the year and only 50 days until Christmas?   Boy has this year flown by.  When it comes to Christmas decorating, I know there are two camps–put it up early or wait until after Thanksgiving. No matter where you are with decorating, I wanted to share a few awesome holiday decor items that I’ve come across recently.   From tree decor and gift giving, to entertaining and mantel decor, I’m sure you’ll find and item or you that you’ll love.  And while you’re shopping my picks, have your gift list handy because many of these items make great gifts too!

Favorite Christmas Decor Finds

Monogram Ornaments–I think these monogram ornaments are so darn cute!  I bought a handful to use as gift tags on presents but think they would also be fun napkin rings.  If you like these, you’ll want to get them soon because I think they are going to sell out fast.

Flat Stocking Holder–Finally a stocking holder that won’t compete with your holiday mantel decor.  And if you don’t have a mantel you can use them to hang stockings from a console table or bookshelf.

Buffalo Check Tree Skirt–This black and white check tree skirt is an easy way to add a fun twist to your Christmas decor no matter what your holiday color theme.

Aerin Heart Ornaments–I would buy this set of heart ornaments and break them up into individual gifts for special friends or clients.  The set would also look great in a pretty bowl as everyday decor.

Piles Of Patches Christmas Stocking–This stocking took my breath way.  It’s so pretty and unique!  I love the 3-d elements, fabric mix and the vintage feel that it has.

Ornaments Salad Plates–Every few years I buy a new set of holiday salad plates as an easy way to pair with my classic china. I love the fun vide and colorful pattern on these ornament plates.

Letter To Santa Christmas Mailbox Ornament–Whenever I teach a gift wrap workshop, people ask me for creative wrapping ideas for money gifts.  This mailbox ornament from the Hearth & Hand collection at Target would be great to hold folded up bills or a check.   Just add a gift tag and hang it on the tree and no one will suspect there’s a treasure inside.

Holiday Wreath Christmas Pillow–It’s really had to find a holiday pillow that not all red and green but still feels like Christmas.  I love the embroidered wreath on this velvet pillow.

Joy Napkin Wrap–A few months ago I shared a JOY napkin ring from Frontgate on the blog and so many of you loved it.  Unfortunately it’s no longer available but I found this option that’s just as fun.  It’s available in a gold and silver finish.

Mercury Glass Trees–Just add a string of lights or flameless candles inside these mercury glass trees for an instant centerpiece on a side board or mantel.

Felt Ball Garland–This felt garland would be so cute on a kids tree or draped along a staircase.  I’d also use the garland nestled into a plain glass vase or candle hurricane.

Velvet Ribbon–This velvet ribbon would make great bows to hang on a tree, garland or to use for gift wrapping.

And speaking of ribbon and gift wrap, do you want to take your gift wrap game to the next level this holiday?  If so, I’d love for you to join me for my Creative Gift Wrap Workshop on Dec. 1st, hosted by Steve McKenzie’s and Verde Home.  Full workshop detail below.  Space is limited so get your tickets today on Eventbirte.

Be sure to tune in all week as I’ll be sharing more holiday inspiration and decorating ideas with you.

2017 Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour–Part 1

Welcome to the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour.  I’m so excited for this year’s home tour and all of the fabulous bloggers that are participating. Plus we have two awesome brand sponsors for this year’s tour, Amara and SmithHonig.  I’ll share more about these great brands throughout the home tour series.

p.s. You’ll find links to all of the participating bloggers holiday home tours at the bottom of the blog post.

If you’re coming over from M. Jones Style, welcome!  My friend Marsha is a southern girl at heart so entertaining comes naturally to her.  Her holiday drink station is beautiful and makes me want to sit down and have a hot toddy.  I can’t wait to see more of her holiday decor in the coming weeks.

Every year I start my holiday home tour by sharing the inspiration for my decor.  If you recall, my theme this year was using my favorite colors, pink and red  along with touches of white and green.  I wanted our decor to be classic and playful at the same time and my original vision came to life just as I imagined.

Here’s a look at the inspiration boards I created earlier this year.

And here’s how it all turned out…

My Holiday Home

The foundation of my Christmas decor is always our tree and if I must say so myself, she’s a beauty.

I’ve been so busy these days that when my friend Don offered to help decorate my tree, I squealed with joy.  Don worked for me when I had my store and is one of the most creative people I know.  He came over one afternoon and we got to work adding honeycomb balls, deco mesh and close to 400 ornaments to the tree.

I topped the tree with a big silver star that I purchased over 25 years ago on a buying trip to San Francisco when I worked for Eddie Bauer.

I used a variety of ornaments on the tree including some beautiful blush pink ones from Amara.  Amara is a UK-based home and interiors brand.  The company sells a variety of decor and gift items from over 300 of the world’s more luxurious home fashion brands. And while based in the UK, Amara ships all across the globe making their product available to everyone.

Amara has a great selection of Christmas ornaments and decor and the blush pink set was perfect for my theme.  The set includes 4 styles of round ornaments– shiny solid, solid matt and two glitter styles.  I love the quality of the ornaments, and the variety of styles added to the whimsy of my tree.

My Favorite Colors:  Hot Pink & Red

In addition to ornaments, I used a red and pink striped deco mesh instead of ribbon and love the wow factor it gave the tree.

And for even more WOW, check out these paper honeycomb balls that are nestled at the top and throughout the tree.  How fun!

Now let’s move over to the fireplace. Since we haven’t had our mantel installed yet, I draped my garland around the fireplace using Command Hooks to hold it in place.   I hug a small wreath in the center and added clusters of ornaments to each corner of the garland.  holiday decorating tip:  clustering ornaments in groups of three is a great way to add impact on a tree or garland.

I also embellished the corners with bows made of pink and red ribbon from PaperMart.

I didn’t do much decorating on the bookshelves that flank the fireplace.  I filled a couple of vintage bowls with ornaments and added a small mercury glass tree to one shelf.

I absolutely love my Christmas decor and wish I could keep it up year round. It’s definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas at my house but there’s still more to see.  Come back next Wednesday, 12/6 for part 2 of the Merry & Bright Holiday Home tour.  I’ll be sharing my dining room along with more of my holiday decor throughout the house.

Next on the tour is Love Your Abode.  I had the pleasure of finally meeting Yuni a few weeks ago and she is such a doll.  You all are going to love her holiday home…it so fun and festive.  Hop over to Love Your Abode and show Yuni some love.

Oh Christmas Tree–Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour part 1

ConfettiStyle Christmas Tree--2016

I’m back today with another awesome blog hop.  It’s the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour that I host with my blogging buddy Kellie from Design Asylum.  This is the second year for the  tour and we have an amazing line-up of 12 bloggers taking you on a tour of their holiday homes. If you’re coming over from Meg’s blog Green With Decor, welcome!  I ‘m happy you’re here.

The Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour takes place over next three weeks with today being the first in the series. We’ll be sharing more holiday cheer on Dec. 7th and Dec. 14th so mark your calendars.

Enough with the details…let’s get this party started!

Today I’m showing you my Christmas tree as well as a couple of sneak peeks at some of the other holiday decor that you’ll see next week.

If you remember a few weeks back I shared the inspiration for my holiday decor.  It was this Poinsettia themed wrapping paper from Paper Mart.

2016-confettistyle-christmas-inspiration-001

Every year I change my tree decor and this year I decided to go with a theme that is perfect for the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour. The red, pink and green in the paper set the tone for my tree decor with a few additional colors thrown in to spice things up.  I’m calling my tree the Merry & Bright tree.

ConfettiStyle Christmas Tree--2016

During the day the bright colors make me smile and in the evening, all lit up the tree is just as beautiful.

ConfettiStyle Christmas Tree--2016

Since the background of my inspirational wrapping paper is black, I decided to use two different ribbons on the tree.  One is a black and white plaid and the other is a two-sided red and green satin.

ConfettiStyle Christmas Tree--2016

To keep things simple, I used only solid colored ornaments in different colors, sizes and finishes. And I layered the ornaments from the inside out to give the tree a full look.

Handcrafted Home–A Creative DIY Blog Hop

a-crafty-diy-blog-hop

Today I’m joining a few bloggers for the Handcrafted Home DIY Blog Hop hosted by Jamala from Viva LaVintage For Your Home. And because this is a creative + diy themed blog hop, Jamala tasked each of us to transform an item using gold leaf.

Well, what’s a girl to do when the only craft projects on my mind are holiday related?  Transform Christmas ornaments of course.

I dove into my holiday stash and found these two unfinished wood ornaments that I purchased from Hobby Lobby last year. They were the perfect candidates for a little DIY UpStyle.

img_4374

After applying my gold leaf and adding a few vintage ornaments to the top of each wood piece, my ornaments went from plain to pizzazz!

This was a quick an easy DIY project and I love the way my ornaments turned out.

Tips for working with Gold Leaf:

  1. Gold Leaf is easier to work with on surfaced that don’t have a lot of nooks and crannies.  If you’re working with ornaments similar to mine, you’ll have to spend a little time smoothing the gold leaf on all the edges.
  2. Wear latex gloves or put a few drops of talcum powder on your hands to make handling the gold leaf easier. This stuff is really clingy.
  3. Use a soft bristle brush to smooth the gold leaf down.  Smooth bristle will ensure you don’t tear the gold leaf.
  4. Buy a high quality gold leaf paper and adhesive.  I used the Gold Leaf Kit below (affiliate link) and think its one of the best out there.

Now it’s time to see the other fabulous DIY projects. Hop over and see how creative they got with their Gold Leaf.

Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour–Part 1

Christmas 2015-10

Hello everyone!   Today is the first day of the Merry & Bright Holiday Home Tour that I’m participating in.  I want to give a big virtual hug and shout out to Kellie from Design Asylum  who spearheaded the idea for this tour and created our fabulous graphic.

Now on to the tour! If you are coming from Marsha’s home at M. Jones Style, welcome! Wasn’t Marsha’s decor just beautiful.

I’m super excited to reveal my tree and front door decor with you today and even more Christmas decor over the next two weeks.

Way back in August I shared my Christmas decor theme with you. The theme for my tree was built on a foundation of red ornaments with accents of white and personal touches like picture frames and monogrammed ornaments.  I also wanted to add in a few touches of animal print to keep the look interesting.

Despite a few deviations from the original plan, I love the way my tree turned out.  I decorated it with a mix of red ornaments, red glitter ball garland (an easy DIY that I’ll share on Friday), red and white tinsel filled ornaments (which I shared yesterday) and assorted white ceramic ornaments.  A big red star tops off the tree.

Christmas in July–FIVE Holiday Trends for 2014

One of the fun things about having the Gift Mart here in Atlanta is that any time I need a Christmas fix I can head down there and tour showroom after showroom of Christmas decor.

Rustic Christmas2

When I had my retail store, I loved planning for a buying Christmas product.  I typically has 6 to 8 Christmas trees in the store, each with its own unique theme.  Every January I would head to the mart to see what the latest trends were and plan my themes for that year.  It might sound crazy but most retail stores purchase their Christmas product in January of each year when all the manufacturers make their new product introductions.  So, the themes for 2014 were set over a year ago and were officially introduced this past January.

Holiday Gift Wrap–Design is in the Details

Christmas 2013-22

This year my holiday gift wrap was all about a classic Christmas colors and fun embellishments. I always add a little something extra to any gift I give but during the holidays I tend to embellish my gifts more.

In my world, giving a gift that is beautifully wrapped is part of the gift giving experience.
