Fall Is In The Air

Fall Vignette By ConfettiStyle10

Hello there!  Today’s post is late because I’ve been a busy bee all morning.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  We had beautiful weather over the weekend, here in Atlanta and I was excited because that meant I was able to get lots of painting done and several projects completed and checked off the to-do list.  I also started adding a few fall touches in my home and the first was a quick console table vignette.

This vignette was really quick and simple to put together.  I pulled my large chalkboard out of the garage and propped it on a console table I have in the living room. I choose not to write anything on the chalkboard and instead hung a fall wreath in the center using some wide green satin ribbon.

On the top shelf of the table I scattered a few pumpkins at the base of the chalkboard and placed the concrete bust I bought over the summer on a stack of books.  I place some feathers in the bust head for height and added texture.

The wood book display to the left is a project I completed over the weekend and I’ll have the full tutorial for you on Thursday.  It so was easy to make.

It’s amazing how little changes to your decor can make the season come alive.  Next up my fall dining table centerpiece which I’ll show you later this week.

Do something magical this week!

Design tip:  Bringing the outdoors in is a quick and easy way to add a touch of fall to your decor. Pull  branches from the trees and place them in pretty containers, place outdoor mums along a console table or fireplace mantel and layer your furnishings with plaid throws.

Fall is in the air and I’m excited for what the season holds.

Be inspired and have a fabulous weekend!

Faux Fur for Fall–Decorating for the Senses

faux fur pillow stack

I read a lot of design blogs and follow many bloggers on instagram and pinterest and I know that all of them, along with me,  are in the midst transitioning their home decor from summer to fall.

When it comes to decorating for fall, I often accessorize tabletops and my dining table with natural elements like leaves and pinecones and I usually decorate my front door with a fall arrangement.  But, mother nature is not my favorite design element when decorating for fall.  It’s faux fur!

When it comes to fashion, fall has to be my favorite time of year.  Unlike any other season, fall fashion in general is more timeless and classic which means your wardrobe does not have to go through a major overall from year to year.  I love classic pieces like cable knit sweaters, cashmere cardigans and leather ankle boot.  Even with all the classic elements, as someone who loves fashion, I always look to incorporate a trend or two into my seasonal wardrobe.  This year it seems that leopard prints will continue to reign as one of fall’s hottest trends so I’m on the hunt for a few pieces to add to my closet.

You can never go wrong with a pencil skirt and this piece is a great way to add this style trend into your wardrobe without investing a lot of money– Pencil Skirt  $24.95

I adore this  Short Sleeve Blouse $34.95 and think the leather sleeves make it a home run for fall

Scarves are one of the easiest ways to add a fashion trend into your wardrobe and leopards prints are a great option because the pattern works with solids, plaids and stripes–Leopard Print Scarf$18.00

I typically don’t buy handbags with i n light leather color but the leopard accent and cognac leather bottom on this tote really make it stand out–Leopard Print Tote $88.00

My narrow foot makes finding and wearing flats a real challenge but I want to give these a try because they are adorable and they are priced right– Leopard Print Flat $49.95

And for all of us that tend to wear a lot of black during the fall and winter months, I think a leopard print belt is the perfect accent to jazz up an outfit– Animal Print Belt $39.00

So, have you started shopping for fall yet?  If you come across any cute leopard print pieces drop me an email and let me know.

Christmas in July–FIVE Holiday Trends for 2014

One of the fun things about having the Gift Mart here in Atlanta is that any time I need a Christmas fix I can head down there and tour showroom after showroom of Christmas decor.

When I had my retail store, I loved planning for a buying Christmas product.  I typically has 6 to 8 Christmas trees in the store, each with its own unique theme.  Every January I would head to the mart to see what the latest trends were and plan my themes for that year.  It might sound crazy but most retail stores purchase their Christmas product in January of each year when all the manufacturers make their new product introductions.  So, the themes for 2014 were set over a year ago and were officially introduced this past January.

The Perfect Summer Picnic Blanket

Outside of the Christmas season, summertime has to be my favorite time of the year. Despite how blazing hot and humid it can get here in Atlanta, I love being in the sun and enjoying all the splendid things about summer like fresh corn, sweet cherries and watermelon.

One of the other things I like to do in the summer (which has yet to happen) is to head to the park and enjoy the day relaxing on a soft blanket.  This adorable and so budget-friendly bandana blanket would make the perfect companion in the park.  A new project just added to my project list.

It would also make a pretty cute picnic tablecloth too!
