When Did Sweatshirts Get So Stylish?

How many of you have a stack of sweatshirts in your closet that you pull on in the evening or maybe wear when running errands on the weekend?  My stack consist of your typical crewneck style with long sleeves.  And I also have a few sweatshirts with my college logo on them just to remind of my wild and crazy college days.

The other day I was walking through Nordstrom and noticed lots of sweatshirts hanging on the racks.  These weren’t your typical athletic sweatshirts.  These sweatshirts had fun fashion details and came in pretty colors.  Every sweatshirt I picked up was cuter than the next and I found myself asking…when did sweatshirts become so stylish?

When athleisure started to grow in popularity, designers began making sweatshirts that had old-school comfort but more fashionable details to meet the trend.  Sweatshirts now have ruffles and bows, bell sleeves and are being made in street wear fabrics.

I for one am thrilled with the fashion sweatshirt trend and have already picked up a couple of styles to add to my weekend wardrobe.

Today I’m sharing 6 stylish sweatshirts perfect for the colder weather ahead.

Fashion Sweatshirts--Fashion Trends for Fall and Winter 2017

one // When your outfit calls for a more sporty look, the Original Funnel Neck Sweatshirt is what you want.  The relaxed turtleneck makes it feel like a mix between a sweatshirt and a sweater.  This is definitely weekend lounging material.

two // I’m all about embellishments when it comes to fashion so the Pleione Tie Back Sweatshirt was a must-have.  I love the tie detail in the back and the slightly billowy sleeve.  It’s adorable and comes in black, burgundy, ivory and navy.

Fashion Sweatshirts--Fashion Trends for Fall and Winter 2017

three //  The ruffle craze has found its way to sweatshirts.  This Ruffle Sleeve Sweatshirt is super cute and I love the pale pink color.  And its 40% off right now which makes it a pretty good deal. Here’s a similar ruffle sleeve sweatshirt for only $16.99 which I snagged at a local store.

four // I love, love, love this Tie Front Sweatshirt. It’s a little dresser than the other styles so you could easily wear it with jeans and boots.  And I would hesitate to pair it with a pair of cropped black pants either.

Fashion Sweatshirts--Fashion Trends for Fall and Winter 2017

five // In case you hadn’t noticed, velvet is a hot fashion trend for fall and winter.  This Velvet Panel Sweatshirt is so adorable and great when you need a more polished look.

six // If a full-blown sweatshirt is not your style, how about this cute sweatshirt bomber jacket?  The pintuck detail dresses it up a bit but it’s still a great piece to lounge around in.

I popped in to TJMaxx and Marshalls the other day and noticed lots of great sweatshirts styles on their racks.  And you can even find some cute styles at JC Penney and Target.  This embroidered sweatshirt at JC Penney is only $22 when you use their sale code (39forYou).

Favorites Of The Week { A Little Of This & That}

Hi friends.  I hope everyone had a great weekend and have fun plans for the long weekend ahead.  Crazy is the only word I can use to describe the last two weeks of my life.  I was ‘crazy busy’ packing for the move to our new house.  And once we got all the boxes and furniture moved in there was craziness with new flooring being installed.  And add in a little ‘kitchen crazy’ since we haven’t been able to use the dishwasher in two weeks and having to cancel our order with Lowes. #servicefail  And did I mention the hubby had to re-wire the dyer with a new electrical cord.

Things are finally settling down and good things are happening. We purchased a new dishwasher from Home Depot and had an awesome buying experience.  It’s being delivered today and I can’t wait.  We’ve unpacked some of our boxes and are finally getting settled into the kitchen and bedroom.  And the best news of all…we are heading to the Caribbean tomorrow for a little rest, relaxation & rejuvenation.

Even though I skipped out on blogging last week, I’ve been working hard to get back on schedule and have a line-up of new blog post to share with you next week.  Until then, enjoy a few favorites from the week and the long weekend ahead.

traditional styles to trendy pieces.  I came across 4 awesome overhead lights while shopping their site recently and wanted to share them with you.

Lamp Plus is the nation’s largest lighting retailer.  They carry a wide range of lighting from all of the top brands in the country.  I love shopping them for chandeliers, table lamps and outdoor lighting.  In addition to lighting, they also sell home decor and  furnishings.

Wayfair carries a large variety of lighting brands with looks to fit every decor style and they have a great selection of outdoor lighting.  I love the look and price of this outdoor wall lantern.

Overstock is one of the best sources for affordable and stylish interior lighting.  And this is a great place to shop If you like crystal lights. This gorgeous chandelier would look awesome in a walk-in closet or over a garden tub.

HomeGoods  has always been a great source for affordable table lamps and the last two years they have really upped their style game. Their assortment is constantly changing so if you see something you love, buy it.

Crate and Barrel is our source for lighting with a modern, contemporary design aesthetic. By hovering over the lighting image on their website, you can also see what the light looks like lit up. This brass desk lamp is one of my all time favorites.

Pottery Barn has a good selection of moderate-priced, transitional lighting that will work with just about any design style     This tapered metal flush mount light is a classic design that would look great in a hallway or mud room.

Rejuvenation has an online store as well as several retail stores across the country.  Their speciality is reproduction antique, Victorian and period-authentic lighting.   The story of how the company was started is pretty interesting–you can read it here.

School House Electric is much more than a lighting company.  Their portfolio of products include furniture, decorative accessories, kitchen & bath products and hardware.  The Satellite Sconce is one of my favorites from their lighting collection.

Target really does have it all when it comes to lighting, from table lamps and floor lamps to outdoor lighting and desk lamps.  In addition to selling their private label Threshold collection, Target also sells popular brands like Uttermost and Safavieh.  tip:  always check their pricing on-line because I’ve noticed several styles that are cheaper on-line than in-store.

Shades of Light is another online source with a vast array of lighting options. Their contemporary collection is my favorites and I’ve got my eye on this light fixture.

Ballard Designs has a nice collection of lights and their price points are very affordable. They have a great selection of glass and ceramic table lamps and  I also like their lantern styles.  Ballard’s is also my source lighting accessories like cord covers and chandelier chain sleeves.

As you think about the lighting in your home, look at it like you do jewelry to an outfit.  Stylish lighting can be the finishing touch to your decor.

Vinyl Tiles I’d Actually Use In My Own Home

One of the areas I’m looking to UpStyle in our new house is the flooring in the basement bathroom. Eventually I want to replace the vinyl floor tiles with ceramic but until that happens I’m considering a quick and easy way to refresh the look.

I recently stumbled across an Etsy shop called Bleucoin that sells premium vinyl tiles that can be used on floors, walls, ceilings and furniture.  What’s so brilliant about these tiles is the easy peel and stick application and the easy removal process when you want to change the look.  Plus the tiles are water and heat-resistant and can be trimmed to fit your specific size needs.

The biggest challenge with Bleucoin tiles is picking one of the over 137 beautiful Mexican and Moroccan designs they have available.

Favorites Of The Week {a little of this & a little of that}

This is going to be an exciting (and stressful) weekend.  My brother is going to be setting up all of our electronic and computer stuff today (which always results in a few new gadgets) and we’ve got a little more packing to do.  And tomorrow the movers come to move all our furniture.  As of Monday we’ll officially be in our new house and the unpacking will begin.

Even though I didn’t manage to do a lot of blogging this week, I did find some down time to round-up my favorites of the week.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!
