Today I wanted to share with you a few room designs I created, inspired by HomeGoods.

Every time I walk through HomeGoods, I find myself snapping pictures and envisioning how I’d use a particular item in a room. Instead of keeping my imagination to myself, I’ve decided to share my vision with you in a new series that will be popping up on the blog from time to time. It’s called Rooms Inspired by HomeGoods. Sometimes I’ll be sharing room designs, sometimes it might be an entertaining tablescape or it might be a vision I have for chic bathroom. Accent Walls: Then and Now

Today I’m talking about a design trend that I’m sure most of us have tried at one time or another when decorating and that trend is Accent Walls. I remember the first time I saw a room with a painted accent wall . It seemed kinda odd that someone would paint just one wall. Then I remember seeing a painted ceiling for the first time and I thought that was even odder. Today, I think paint and decorative wall treatments are one of the easiest and more affordable ways you can create drama for a room.

It’s Back to School Time–The Grown Up Edition

Am I the only one that gets excited when back to school time hits? Even though I’ve been out of school for a long, long time, I just love when the school supplies, school bags, locker accessories and all cute clothes hit the racks and shelves of stores. You see, I have reason why I love back to school time so much. My mom was a teacher for 27 years and every year I’d spend time helping her cut designs out of construction paper and then we’d decorate her classroom bulletin boards and get her books ready.

Most of the time when we leave the house, we make sure to present ourselves in a way that just in case we run into someone or meet someone new, we make a good first impression. That same thinking should go into the design of your home, especially your entrance area. The space doesn’t have to be big to make an impact, it just has to have a point of view and a personality.

Design tip: Paint the piece of furniture you place in your foyer to create energy and set the tone for what the rest of the house feels like. Add a natural element to give the space a personal touch and a starburst mirror is always good because the spokes draw your eye around the space and into the connecting rooms.

Summer Entertaining: Picnic Baskets Essentials

What’s you favorite thing to do during the summer. Is it heading to the beach to romp through the sand? Maybe you like to take afternoon drives through the countryside? Or maybe your ideal summer day it hanging our around a pool?

Yes, I love to hang out at the beach but since the closet real beach in 5+ hours away I can’t do that on a regular basis. I also like to take drives through the countryside but living in Atlanta, getting to the country takes a drive too. And since I don’t have a swimming pool, that’s not an option. What’s left–a day in the park.
