What to Put Between The Sheets?

Have I got you wondering?

Well, you can all get your minds out of the gutter because what I’m referring to is a trend that is happening more and more when it comes to decorating guest bedrooms or rooms for the little ones in the house.
“What to put between the sheets” is all about how to furnish and accessorize the space between TWIN BEDS!

Twin beds are such a charming way to decorate a guest bedroom and are a great way to keep a small bedroom from feeling crowded and tight.  In most cases a single night stand placed between the bed serves as the common tabletop surface.  While I like the idea of a single lamp, again helping to keep the space feel uncluttered, I also love the use of two lamps when space allows.

Double lamps give each bed its own source of light for reading and plays up the visual impact in the room.

When it comes to accessorizing the piece of furniture between the beds, use this space to display a few special pieces that your guest will enjoy but also make sure to leave some of the surface area open so guest can place their jewelry, books and personal items there.
I love how the tall slender lamps above create a frame for the nightstand and the wall décor above it.

If the nightstand you use is small, wall mounted swing arm lamps are a great space-saving option.

When it comes to the height of the nightstand, it’s important that the piece does not over-power the beds.  You want the night stand height to be easily accessed from the bed. The table above is a good height and feels proportionate to the height of the headboard.

A taller furniture piece can be used, again keeping in mind the height relationship to the bed.  Because the room above is larger, the larger chest of drawers has more room to float between the beds and the height feels appropriate to the scale of the bed, windows and wainscoting.

I think the blue chest in this image is too tall and makes the beds and the entire room feel a bit crowded.  Plus, the surface area is not accessible when you are in the bed.
Here are a couple of twin bed arrangements that I think have all the right elements.

This canopy drape used in lieu of  a headboard along with the mirror provides a great focal point between the beds.  Both the nightstand and wall lights are functional for guest.

WOW is what this twin bed arrangement says!  Isn’t that single headboard just gorgeous?  What great visual impact and style.

And I love the placement of twin beds placed along a long wall.  This is a great option if the room is wide and narrow.
Twin bed frames are a hot item at thrift store and flea markets so if you want a unique look for your guest bedroom, you might want to give twin beds a try!
